Beastly.

A chill hung in the air, the dark of night broken by only the sparkling of stars in the sky. Standing outside on the balcony looking over the courtyard of his humble home, Michael sighed. His lonliness was beginning to ware on him. It had been many years since his accident, and he still hadn't felt comfortable sharing his home with someone else.

The home was on the outskirts of the kingdom, nice a removed from any untimely visitors. Very few of the citizens even knew someone still lived out there, most assuming the place was abandoned. Michael liked it that way, it made it less likely that he'd end up hurting someone.

Charlotte was on her way in a carriage when a group of wolves attacked her carriage and men. She was able to run and get away but not before one scratched her deep, running in the opposite direction. “Where I am?” She asked herself when she stopped as she looked around. She then spotted a house and decided to see if any one was home. She went to the door and nervously knocked.

Michael heard the frantic knocking on his door. He sighed softly, he hadn't been expecting a visitor this evening. He moved downstairs slowly, half praying that whoever it was would give up and go away.

Once at the front door, he opened it, surprised to see a blonde woman standing there. She was well dressed, in fancy clothes. "What is going on Ma'am?" he asked softly.

Charlotte waited patiently for someone to answer. “Hello sir. I don’t mean to bother you but my carriage was attacked by wolves and I need help” she said as she held on to her side where there was a deep scratch. “Can you please help me” she begged.

Michael looked her over, only now noticing how dishelved she was. He nodded, "Of course, come on in," he said lightly. He stepped back from the door, opening it wider for her.

His home was fairly large, and dispite the exterior look, being that of an unkempt, abandoned building. The interior was immaculate, and very finely furnished.

Charlotte walked in and looked around. Her hand on on her side where there was a huge blood stain. “Thank you for helping me” she said softly as she looked over at him.

Micheal nodded, "of course, my lady," he commented. He led her further into this home, "I have a medical kit around here somewhere," he said softly.

He was still trying to work out, how she'd found this place, where she'd been travelling to, to end up here. "My name is Micheal," he said gently.

Charlotte followed him as she looked around. It was beautiful and he seemed to live alone. “My name is Charlotte” she said softly. She felt bad about intruding on him.

Micheal looked at her, "so Charlotte, what brought you to my neck of town?" he asked curious. He never had visitors, but luckily tonight wasn't going to be a bad night, so he had a little time to spare this poor woman.

He lead her into the kitchen, "I have a medkit in here somewhere," he said lightly.

Charlotte followed him to the kitchen. “I was traveling to a near by village when I was attacked” she said softly, looking down. She was still pretty scared as well as in pain.

Micheal nodded softly, "well, you are safe here, with me," he said lightly. He found his medkit, and pulled it out. He moved over to her, "here, let me clean those scratches," he said softly.

He gently pulled out sterile alcohol, and dipped the cloth in it. He slowly worked away cleaning her wounds. "So will anyone come looking for you, when you don't show up?" he asked.

Charlotte tried to relax as he cleaned the wound. She bit her lip, trying not to cry out in pain or move. “I’m not sure to be honest. My mother died when I was young and my father is very sick” she said. She wasn’t sure if she should tell him that she was a princess or not. He seemed gentle and kind but she knew not everyone liked royalty.

Micheal nodded gently, "well you are welcome to stay here, as long as you need," he said gently. He wanted to help her, and for a moment he felt normal, and managed to forget what a horrible monster he really was.
He finished patching her up, and stepped back, "there you go, Miss Charlotte," he said.

Charlotte smiled softly when he invited her to stay. “I appreciate that so much. Thank you” she said softly. She looked down at her arm that was now bandaged up. “Is there anything I can do to repay you? Maybe I could bake something for you?” she asked. It was unusual for a princess to know how to bake but she asked to learn, growing up in the kitchen. She wasn’t a normal princess.

Micheal looked at her, and shook his head, "No that's perfectly fine," he said softly. He moved to pack away his medical kit, "Come on, I'll find you somewhere to stay while we organise a way to get you home safe," he said softly.

Charlotte nodded. “Alright” she said as she got up and followed him. Her eyes wandered around the beautiful home. She was feeling a little fatigue from the walk, it was about mile from the wreckage. “Maybe I could find some other way to thank you? Let me do something. This is too kind” she said as she walked.

Micheal smiled softly, "well we can pick up the conversation in the morning, once you're rested," he said softly. He led her towards one of the spare rooms. He opened the door, "here, this should be comfortable for the night," he said lightly.

Charlotte smiled, following him to the spare bedroom. "It is a gorgeous room thank you so much for your hospitality" she said sweetly before walking in. She was lucky that Thomas was a very sweet man and didn't try to take advantage of her.

Thomas nodded softly, "Of course, I do hope that it's comfortable, until we can get you home," he said lightly. He pointed to a side door, "there is a bathroom through there, I'll check on you in the morning," he said softly before walking off down the hall.

Thomas was a little worried about having someone staying with him, but he knew that it should be at least a week before things would get complicated. If he managed to get her out of his home by then, there would be no problems.
