Emilia walked down the streets. It was close to curfew and she was cutting it close, dragging it out, the time she had away from her family. It wasn't that they where bad just annoying. She wasn't one that had strong beliefs, she saw each side to an argument and felt for each side. Maybe she just hadn't found something to believe in. She hoped one day she would find something to believe in so strongly. Emilia watched the light posts turn on as she walked closer to the big golden gate that surrounded her home. She passed trailing her fingers over the fence making a light clanging sound like chimes. She smiled at the sound. She truly wished that her family would stop pushing her to believe in their beliefs. She knew they had set up another dinner party to introduce her to more suitable candidates. She was pretty sure they where going to make a decision for her soon because she was refusing to choose those suitors that had the same beliefs as her family. Her family was one of the most influential in the town, part of the small handful that where on the council that advised in all things security against the wolves. Emilia didn't want to be a piece of arm candy to someone that wanted an influential seat on that council just as much as she didn't want to be a part of that council herself. She really thought they all where a bunch of murderous conquistadors. Though she had never met a wolf to solidify that belief.
Emilia walked into the kitchen of her house trying to avoid her mother greeting Ms. Buns the chief. Margaret looked her over. "Oh child you are filthy!" Ms.Buns laughed and went over to her. "You better go and wash and get dressed before your mother catches you. Your guests will be here soon." Margaret said touching one of her golden curls that hung loosely over her shoulder. "I can not save you from her. She is in a mood today my sweet child." Emilia chuckled at Ms. Buns. "Thank you. I will try to avoid her." she said and then looked up as her mother came swooping into the kitchen. "Ms. Buns!" Her mother shouted then trailed off looking at her daughter. "Emilia Lilly Dupont!" Her mother shouted again and Emilia flinched. "Yes mother. I am just headed up to dress." she said and her mother huffed in frustration. "Yes you had better be and quickly our guests will be here shortly and I expect you there to great them but you better be presentable or not there until you are!" she said and shooed her away. Emilia looked apolvogelicly at Ms. Buns before skirting out of the kitchen and away from her mother.
Emilia looked into the mirror as she finished zipping up her pink gown. Her hair in tight bouncy golden girls and her blue eyes highlighted in a smokey eye. She put a couple pins in her hair so her curls shaped her face then slipped into her shoes and headed down stairs to meet their guests. Emilia stood at the dinning room entrance while her father brought in Sir Quinn. He was a tall blonde with brooding brown eyes that managed to look dark and intimidating even with that brilliant smile that never reached his eyes. The scruff on his well trimmed jaw only added to the edgy dangerous vibe Emilia felt swelling off of him. Of course Emilia had met him before, how could she forget the man who's essence screamed soldier? They had danced at a ball and her parents have had him and his family over for dinner before but tonight it was just him. Third meeting, this was no coincidence. Her parents had chosen and she knew tonight they would tell her. Emilia swallowed and treated him appropriately. "Sir Quinn." she said and he grinned down at her. "Please just Quinn." he said and she smiled though she didn't feel much like it. They where seated and dinner began.
Emilia was right. At the end of the night her parents had told her as they sat around the table as the staff cleared the table. Quinn smiled at her like a predator ready to clasp a baby lamb in his jaws. That gaze in that moment was more scary to her than meeting yellow eyes in the woods after curfew. "Quinn is a dedicated officer in our regiment. He is on patrol later but took the time to come to be here for this joyous announcement Emilia." Her father said and Emilia's stomach tightened into a trillion knots as her mind scrambled for things to say. "Oh my how thoughtful." she said. Her mother glared at her but the room was turning fuzzy as she tried to smile wider. Her father grinned. "Well Quinn please come and share a congratulatory drink with me before you head off." he said and they stood and left. He mother was chastising her but Emilia could hear none of it. "Yes mother. I think I will retire for the night." she said. She rose and headed from the room feeling like she was going to vomit but swallowed it back.
Before Emilia registered it she was running down the empty street her feet bare her shoes in her hand in a simple blue dress. She was running towards the forest and was more afraid of turning back than going forward. She stopped at the tree line and looked back before slipping into the forest. She ran through the trees ignoring the pine needles and sticks underfoot as she ran. She had no idea where she was headed to and was thankful it was warm tonight but she had to get away, she didn't know for how long or how far she needed to go but she was following that instinct inside of her telling her to keep going and to run from that man. A wolf in sheep clothing.
Trevor paced through the village. His family was all here, every wolf and cub connected by the wolf gene. That was something that those humans didn't understand. Their community was so much more than just wolves. They where a family connected but he same struggles and the same outcast from their human counterparts. Yes some of them had been turned but some of them had just been born too. Honestly he had never had problems with humans before but recently they had been getting more brazen. They came into wolf territory in the woods pushing them back with threats of violence and his brother insisted upon not defending their turf. He had up to this point just kept the peace. All of this pushing was forcing them off their territory and onto other pack territories to find hunting ground to feed their people.
Trevor was nearly at his wits end and was thinking he might need to take a break away from the pack and the humans all together. It was more dangerous to be a lone wolf in general but more so now with the humans and their beliefs that they where wild animals that shifted uncontrollably at the full moon. Sure that might be true at puberty but the adult wolves had much more control over their wolf, usually. Many things played into the shifting and the amount of control the wolf had over the man inside. Emotions played a large part in it which was why puberty was such a problem but he was not a pup anymore and it was time to figure out if he was going to submit to his brothers alpha or branch off.
Trevor asked someone in the pack where Grayson was. "Off for a night run." she said and Trevor nodded. He really should stay here until he returns but Trevor was really thinking he also needed a walk to clear his own head. All this lack of action was making him restless and he needed to burn off some energy before he did something he regretted. He wasn't always so hot, often he was level headed but there were moments he was not level at all and that was dangerous. It was always dangerous to be a wolf but a hotheaded, even occasionally, was more dangerous as a wolf.
Trevor tore off and decided even just walking around the camp would be better off for him. He kind of wanted to see the lake though. It bordered the boundary and was dangerous but water had a way of calming his soul and it might just be worth it to get some water and maybe go for a little swim. Trevor headed off into the night to let his emotions lead him for just a moment so that he could be cool when he returned to camp.
