Always Watching You

Nova could tell that all of her questions and badgering were frustrating Brian and he was trying to remain calm. She ran a hand through her hair before nodding when he asked her to be patient and do what he asked. If only they had been smart the first time around, things could have been so much simpler.

Before Nova had a chance to respond, Brian gripped her hair and kissed her. She hated every time he kissed her. It seemed like every time their lips met, Nova could feel herself slowly giving in to him. As civil as they could be, Nova hadn’t forgiven him yet. She quickly broke the kiss, “Brian, we’re not doing this.” She needed to get space from him before she cracked under the pressure.

The fact that Joelle hadn’t immediately pushed him away was enough to give Zacky hope. It was part of the reason he couldn’t help laughing as she glared at him. Even when she was angry Zacky thought she looked adorable.

“You go ahead and think that, but it took you a minute to shove me away. It won’t be that long,” Zacky laughed. He went to the fridge and grabbed a beer, “It’s only a matter of time.” He winked at her as he opened the beer and took a sip.

Joelle glared at Zacky, "If I knew you were going to kiss me, I would have slapped you, but since you took me by surprise, my reaction delayed." She said trying to convince, but it sounded like she was trying to convince herself instead. Hearing him laugh at her still, Joelle took her unopened water bottle and chucked it at him. She smiled when it hit him in the stomach before going back to making her sandwich, not caring if she pissed him off. Joelle didn't believe he had the right to be pissed or angry at her anyway.

Brian only smirked at her. "You might be saying that, but your body is saying something different." He chuckled and pulled her back in for another kiss, this time having a tighter hold on her so she couldn't escape. "You would enjoy this if you would stop fighting this." He said into the kiss. Soon Brian broke the kiss and looked into Cora's eyes. "You still want me. Your feelings for me may be faint, but they are there." He told her.

Nova pushed her hands against Brian’s chest, trying to get even the slightest bit of space between them. When he finally let her go, she stood up from the couch, “That’s the thing, they are faint. I’ll always have some sort of feelings for you, mostly because we have Emmett.” She knew admitting that there was even the smallest chance would be enough for Brian to keep trying. There was no point in lying to him, but Nova was going to do everything in her power to make it difficult for him.

Zacky groaned as the water bottle hit him in the stomach, “Fuck.” He doubled over in pain for a moment before catching his breath and standing up straight. “You can fight me all you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that you’re going to get sick of fighting me and give in,” Zacky smirked, grabbing his beer and kissing her cheek as he walked past her, going back to the living room. He was going to give her a little more time, but he was starting to get sick of her game already.

"You must not know me enough to know that I can and will keep rejecting and fighting you until you finally get the hint that I dont want you." She snapped back, wanting to kick him when he kissed her cheek. Hearing him laugh at her mockingly, Joelle grumbled under hear breath and took the sandwich she made and her water bottle and walked to the room that she and Aaron were staying, locking the door so that Zacky couldn't bother them.

Brian smirked. "Baby girl. You can keep telling yourself that, but we both know that you I'm the only man that make you feel higher than you ever been. We are made for each other." He told her with a soft chuckle. "Eventually you'll get tired of pushing your feelings for me away. But just know I'll be ready when it does."

Nova rolled her eyes, she couldn’t stand how cocky Brian was being. “I hope your patient, because nothing’s changing anytime soon.” She needed space from him, at least for a little while. Nova got up from the couch and walked upstairs. She wasn’t going to wake Emmett up so she couldn’t go to the guest room. Instead, Nova opened the door to the bedroom she used to share with Brian. Looking around as she walked in, nothing had changed. Noticing a few photos missing, Nova suddenly remembered the night she left. She had smashed the frames and thrown them in the trash. That night, Nova had promised herself she would never come back and yet, here she was.

“I know you better than you think,” Zacky said as he watched her go up the stairs. He sighed, hearing the door close and lock. He never wanted things to be this bad between them. As much as Zacky loved Joelle and wanted her to be happy, he was never going to be able to let her go. The fact that they had Aaron just solidified them being together as a family in Zacky’s mind. So, he was going to let Joelle ride out her little tantrum and let her come to terms with everything on her own time.

Joelle slid down to the floor, with her back now resting against the door. She was fighting hard to not let her tears of frustration fall. She hated that Zacky was getting to her, making her look and feel weak. She didn't want to show her son that she was weak. Joelle wanted to show Aaron, that she was strong and that she wasn't going to allow anyone, including Zacky, make her seem weak. Hearing her son coo, Joelle got up from the floor, to his crib to see that he was now awake and happy to see her. She picked up Aaron, and sat on the edge of her bed while holding him. "I hope you're not mad at me, my sweet boy. I want to hate your father so badly and prove to him that we don't need him, but he does things and make me feel week. Just know that I have your back, baby boy and I will make sure if anything, I will be your protector." She said to him, knowing that he didn't understand a word she said, but just laughed when he kept cooing.

Brian just chuckled, "Babe, if anything you're the impatient one. Besides, we both know, that you will crack soon. I'm just waiting until you do, because things will go a lot smoother and perhaps faster, if you got over yourself and realize that you need me. Besides, we have a son together, that we need to protect. We can't protect him, if we're not on the same page." He explained, before getting up and grabbing his keys. "I'm going out to take care of some things. Do not leave this house for anything, I will know if you do or not." He said and then kissed her forehead before leaving the house.

Nova rolled her eyes as Brian walked out the door. Everything about him made her so angry. She wanted to test him, leave the house and see what he would really do. Nova also knew there could be other people that would hurt her or worse Emmett to get back at Brian and she wasn’t about to risk that. A sigh left her lips as she sat down and listened for Emmett to wake up.

Zacky made his way up the stairs and knocked at the door, “I’m going out, won’t be too long. Don’t leave the house, I will know if you did.” He really didn’t feel like fighting with Joelle, but he wasn’t going to be an absent father now that he knew about Aaron. Zacky walked away from the door and down the stairs as he grabbed his keys. There was a part of him that was just hoping Joelle would be glad to be back home. He knew that wasn’t likely as he grabbed his keys and left, locking the door behind him.

"Whatever Zacky." Joelle said back to him. She already knew the rules and as much she wanted to break them just to piss him off, Joelle didnt want to cause harm to her or Aaron. Once she heard him leave the house, Joelle picked up Aaron and carried him out to the living room after grabbing his bottle from the fridge. She sat down in the living room and began feeding him while watching tv.

Brian went to the gang's headquarters to meet up with the others. Now that he and Zacky were back in the picture, they needed to come up with a plan to get back at the enemy but also protect the girls and now kids.

Nova was relieved when she finally heard Emmett stirring on the baby monitor. She got up from the couch and made her way up the stairs. A smile crossed her lips as she walked in the room and Emmett grinned at her. Nova lead him back downstairs, “Are you hungry?” Emmett nodded, “Uh huh.” Nova put on a cartoon and gave him a few of his toys before going into the kitchen to male him a snack.

Zacky didn’t like leaving Joelle at the house, but he didn’t think she would test him and leave. Once he reached their headquarters, Zacky got out and walked inside. He knew they had to get revenge, but he didn’t want any blow back to harm Joelle or Aaron.

After feeding Aaron and burping him, Joelle changed his diaper before putting him in his crib. She kissed his forehead a couple times before getting the baby monitor to bring with her to the living room. Joelle continued to watch tv out of boredom until she fell asleep on the couch.

"Why are we here? I had to leave Nova and Emmett at home by themselves for this." Brian growled. He didnt like that he had to leave them home without him, even with the protection he has set up in the house. He just got his girl back and now that he has a kid, he didnt want to lose his family again.

It had only been five minutes when Nova came back into the living room and gave Emmett his snack and a drink. She sat down on the couch and watched as he ate and looked at his show. Nova hated to admit that she felt comfortable being back in the house. It had been her perfect home before everything happened and she still had that feeling.

“I have to agree with Brian, I didn’t want to leave the house either. Joelle’s slowly starting to cave,” Zacky said, turning his attention to Matt. He knew they needed to keep up appearances and all, but that was the last thing on his mind.

Matt looked at the rest of the guys, “Look, we’ve kept everything going while you two were away. I know shit is different now, with the kids and all, but we’ve got to keep up with business as usual and make sure you two are caught up.”
