Meredith nodded and linked her arm with his as he led her outside, resting her head against his shoulder as she looked out over the city. "Can.. Can we fly somewhere? I want to see somewhere else.. I still want to meet Artemis and your brother and Emberly, but.. but I don't really want to be here right now...." She admitted softly, looking at him worriedly. "We could go to the meadow? Or whenever you want.. just not right here."

Jasper hadn't quite returned from speaking with his parents when Emberly returned, but it wasn't long before he came into the room, looking rather angry. The talk with his parents hadn't gone over well, and he wasn't happy with how they'd spoken about his future bride, despite him making it very clear that that's what she was. He relaxed a bit when he saw her though, noticing the necklace that she now wore around her neck and offering him a little smile. "Artemis make that for you?"

Leo looked over at her as she suggested they fly away and he frowned a moment considering the dangers but then nodded realizing her emotions where as dangerous as the risk of flying with two people on one wing set. He kissed her sweetly. "Hold onto me. The meadow might be to far and puts us at too much risk to be seen by humans but I will take you somewhere beautiful." he said. He scooped her into his arms and when she clung to him bent his knees and bolted off the ground flying her through the air hoping she wouldn't get airsick on her first trip. He took her to a little serene place he thought she would enjoy. He landed on a patch of moss and set her down gently. "Take it slow I don't want you to get air sick. Flying for the first time can make you sick." he said and soothed her hair back.

Emberly was impatient. When he didn't answer she had tested the door and grinned as it opened. She had never been in his room before. She walked in looking around and touching his bedspread before turning and looking at a few things that seemed to be set up as sentimental items. She took an orb off its stand and held it watching t begin to glow and she realized it was the moon. "Aim for the moon and even if you fall you will still land among the stars." she said grinning as she looked at the details. She jumped hearing Jasper and turned holding the moon to her. She chuckled and then set it down. Her fingers fluttered over the pendent and she nodded. "It's suppose to help me not lose control again." she said and looked up at him as she stepped closer. "But she being amazing also made it stunning." she said and then reached up running a finger over the crease in his temple. "The meeting did not go well huh?" she asked. "Was it me coming to court or your intent on marrying me that they disagreed with more?" she asked and stepped forward her hands pressing to his chest. "Either way both things will happen at one time or another. But I am going to court tomorrow even if it is improper. I want every royal in the kingdom to know I am here and I am not going to cower." she said and the pendent glowed a moment and she bit her lip. "Oh sure determination too huh?" she stepped back and the glowing stopped. She sighed. "Magic pours out of me Jasper. I was meant to be here." she said and took his hand her's warm but not hot. She grinned softly at him hoping to sooth his worry.

Meredith nodded a little as he told her to hold onto him, wrapping his arms around his neck tightly as she clung to him, burying her face in his neck as he took off flying. The experience was amazing, and she hoped that eventually she'd come to enjoy flying, but for now she was terrified. Once he landed it took her a few moments before she released him and opened her eyes, looking around in awe. "Wow... It's beautiful, Leo.." She murmured, touching the moss underneath her gently.

Jasper chuckled a little as he saw her standing in his room, moving over to wrap her in his arms, resting his head on top of hers. "They're fine with you presenting yourself at court, although I think that's just because they expect you to fail. But they're not thrilled about me marrying you, at all, even if we get engaged soon." He explained with a sigh, tugging her closer. He chuckled a little as she spoke about her necklace, tucking her hair behind her ear as he pressed a kiss to her forehead, smirking a little when he noticed her necklace glowing. "You're very powerful, Emberly, you'll learn to control it soon enough."

Leo grinned as she looked around and touched the moss. He smirked. "I thought this one would be a good start to opening you up to the world at a much smaller size." he said and grinned as he pulled off his shoes and rolled up his pants moving over to the edge to dip his feet in the water. He leaned back on his arms and closed his eyes just letting the sun and water absorb into his being.

"How much have you told them about me?" she asked him. Emberly knew she needed to talk to someone about the ediquits of court but she was sure otherwise she was going to kill this first meeting. It would be easy to wow a crowd now. She had better control than she did but still a long way to go so she didn't ever unintentionally hurt someone.Emberly felt him not let her go and snuggled into him knowing the necklace was a good idea now so Jasper could see it too. What she didn't know is that the stone change color before it glowed as a warning to others that she was warming up. He complimented her and she nodded snuggling her nose into his chest. "Thank you Jasper." she said and looked up at him. "They will never be truly happy that you are marrying me. I will always fall short of their expectations." she blushed. All this talk of marriage was a lot. Emberly sighed. "Come on let's take that walk and finish our conversation." she said and looked up at him.

Meredith smiled a little as she watched him move over to the water, scooting over to sit next to him, linking her arm with one of his before leaning in to press a kiss to his cheek. "Thank you for bringing me here, Leo.. I know you didn't have to." She murmured, smiling over at him. "I love you."

Jasper kept her close, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "I haven't told them much, just little things here and there. I haven't wanted them to have too much of an opinion of you beforehand." He sighed, hugging her close as he nuzzled his nose into her hair. He chuckled a little when she pulled away and asked to go take their walk, nodding as he stepped away and offered her his arm. "Alright, let's go."

Leo grinned and kissed her temple after she kissed his cheek. "I would do anything I can to make you happy Meredith." he said and ran his finger over the mark on her wrist. "I love you too." he said grateful that she was his and he had truly meant it when he said he would do anything in his power to make her happy.

Emberly nodded and she grateful when he agreed to the walk. She let him lead her through the castle to the little place h head in mind. "We have talked about what we need a little but I want to talk about how we communicate. We will not always agree and if we are going to be partners we need to check in with one another but also not belittle the other or their decision in public. It is better to later look merciful than to look like we don't agree." she said looking up at him. "We need a silent or quiet way that we can disagree in public that will leave to a later conversation and another one for an emergency meeting between us." She looked up at him wondering if he would think this a good idea.

The next day everyone in court was excited to finally see the human that Jasper had brought back to the tree, looking forward to seeing whatever it was the prince and her had planned. The King and Queen had already met Leo's bond, and a few members of court had caught a glimpse of the former human and her beautiful wings, and everyone seemed reasonably impressed with her manners, and even though she was still an outsider, at least she seemed to be adjusting to court life, whereas no one had seen Emberly since her arrival, despite how hard people were trying to get a glimpse of her.

Meredith kept her arm linked with Leo's as they walked through the throne room while waiting for Jasper and Emberly's arrival, sticking at his side as he introduced her to various members of court. The accents on her dress went well with the mark on her arm and the engagement ring on her finger, and the dress overall matched the outfit that Leo had worn. "Do you think things will go well for Emberly?" she asked softly when they had a moment alone, looking up at him.

Meanwhile, Jasper was in Emberly's room waiting for her to finish dressing, fidgeting nervously with his jacket buttons. He believed in her, of course, but he still worried that things would somehow go wrong, mostly due to his parents saying or doing something to mess with her. "Almost ready? they'll be expecting us soon." He called from where he stood out on the balcony, giving her some privacy while she dressed.

Leo looked down at Meredith when she was worried about Emberly. "I do. She has been working very hard and though she doesn't know much court etiquettecy she has a natural air of authority and though she can be warm people will naturally want to respect her and her authority." he whispered to her. "That is what I beleive of her anyways." he said though he knew that once the awe of her wore off then the hard work would start for her. "How are you doing?" he asked her and kissed her temple. He was very proud of her. She was doing so well with everyone her introduced her too.

Emberly finished adjusting the dress around her wings. She then put her hair up. She looked in the mirror and signed. "I can do this." she whispered and placed the jeweled hair comb in her hair. She came out just as he asked if she was ready and she came around him smoothing out his jacket. She finished his buttons for him her hands steady. "If you have let me arrive in surprise like I had intended to instead of telling everyone I was coming we wouldn't be running on a schedule." she looked up at him and smiled softly. "Okay we are ready. Remind me again when I get to show off my magic?" she asked him and started to head out of the room her arm in his. She had her necklace on but she had already spoken the words. She was to reactivate it right after her display of magic. It wouldn't take much to reactivate it so she could do it in public. She looked elegant as her dress swept over the floor her wings fluttering slightly over her dress. She was more nervous about the people and how to behave in court than her display of magic. They were nearly there now and royal guards stood at the doors on either side that would let them in and she looked up at Jasper. "Thank you for being here with me." she said softly.

Meredith nodded a little, giving his hand a squeeze. The two former humans hadn't gotten a chance to speak to one another yet, but Meredith still worried about Emberly, even if the other girl didn't worry about her. She looked up at Leo when he kissed her temple, offering him a little smile. "I'm doing alright. There's a lot of people to talk to, and some seem nicer than others, but overall it's not too bad." She murmured, pressing a kiss to his cheek. "I wished the younger women would stop trying to flirt with you, though." It made her uneasy, even though every time Leo politely told them he wasn't interested, she still worried that someone would come along that he couldn't turn away from.

Jasper smiled down at her as she came around to smooth out his jacket, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear and pressing a kiss to her forehead. "I've found it's a better strategy to not surprise people suddenly with fire magic. They just think I'm presenting you to my parents, they don't know about the magic show, although at least they might expect something." He explained, beginning to lead her down the hall toward the throne room. "You can show off your magic after I've presented you to my parents, and after they have given you permission. My mother can be a bit... Prickly, so it's likely that she'll try to say something to get under your skin. Don't let your emotions get the best of you, especially not before you practice your magic." He explained, pausing outside of the throne room to look at her and press a quick kiss to her lips. "You'll do wonderfully, Emberly. Are you ready?"

Jasper looked at Meredith as she said girls were flirting with him and he raised a brown. "They are?" he asked his finger brushing her mark again. He hadn't even realized he was beating them off with sticks. He had simply been completely consumed in Meredith and everything he did reflected his love and devotion to her. It was natural, she was his bond. Bonds didn't happen often anymore and no one really understood it all anymore. "I'm not interested in anyone other than you, ever." he whispered and kissed her head. When there was a hush in the crowd he smiled. "That must be them." he said softly and held Meredith to his side. He stroked her arm as they waited and he smiled seeing Emberly dressed like royalty. He wondered if she had picked it all herself. If she had she had done well to bring the right attention to the right places. Her wings where magnificent and leaving her arms bare would make the magic appear to roll out of her like nature itself.

Emberly sighed and nodded. "I guess you are right but I hate being expected to do something." she said and leane dup on her toes more to kiss him deeper needing the extra confidence as he kissed her. She squeezed his hand and then gave one nod coming down on her feet again and turned to see the guards looking at her in wonder and she smiled. A good start was to make the guards lose their cool exterior. Her wings shinned and as they flittered little flicks of gold landed over her shoulders, fairy dust. She straightened herself out and the doors opened a large crowd of people turning to look at her and though her insides jumbled at the sight of so many people she remained calm only the hand on Jasper's arm tightening gave away her nerves. She reminded herself to remain cool as she was still touching Jasper and she never wanted to hurt him again. They stepped forward and the crowd parted as they headed towards the thrones that if Jasper had his way would be both hers and his soon enough. She looked like fire but her eyes were steady and grounded, their blue green orbs occasionally looking to someone then back to where she was going. She noticed the people she focused on squirmed uneasily. When they stopped in front of the crowned King and Queen she followed Jasper's lead and curtsied slightly her head bowing respectfully but showing no weakness. Her eyes came back up to meet first with the king's eyes who look at her with wonder and excitement then at the queen who looked shocked but trying to cover it with a glare. Oh yes she was trying to determine how to rifle Emberly's feathers. Keep looking mama bear you won't win this. Emberly thought to herself as Jasper began to speak presenting her.

Meredith smiled a bit at his obliviousness, resting her hand on his chest over his mark as his fingers brushed against her. "My infinitium." She murmured, tilting her head up when he leaned down to kiss her head so that her lips could brush against his briefly, before turning her attention toward Emberly and Jasper as they entered. It was so weird to see Emberly here, and she found herself tucking her wings in close and moving to stand slightly behind Leo, not wanting Emberly to see her. They'd been friends once, but that was a long time ago, and she knew that the court would be comparing them both to one another, and she wasn't sure how she could hold up to someone as beautiful and talented as Emberly.

Jasper grinned slightly before leading her into the throne room, staring down his parents as they entered, although when he caught his brother's eye he gave him a little nod. Once standing before the thrones and his parents he bowed politely, stepping away from Emberly but not releasing her hand, rasing it slightly as he bowed to her. "Father, I present to you Emberly Willowstone, mea amata." He stated simply, shooting his mother a look that told her to knock it off with the glare, especially since his father seemed more open. "She has been gifted with Fire, and would like to give a presentation of her magic in your honor." He hoped his father would say yes, and with a magic as rare as fire, he had no doubt that his father's curiously wouldn't be denied, and Emberly would get to perform for them all.

Emberly's presence in the room commanded all eyes on her. She was slightly dismayed that Jasper wasn't standing so close to her as he presented her but she looked at the king and queen with a smile. The king grinned. "Yes," the king bellowed for the entire court to hear him. "Let Emberly show us her fire magic." he grinned at her and the queen turned to him quietly. "Do you think she could have control already over such a power? Is it wise my husband?" she asked and he waved a hand. "Nonsense. Besides Jasper is here." he said in response placin the success of this on his son as well. Emberly looked at Jasper and stepped closer preeing her lips to his cheek. "Thank you. Stand back, I got this." she said and waited till he gave her room. Emberly bowed her head again at the king then dropped her arms a glow beginning in her wings and moving down her arms until embers burst from her fingers and up into the air spinning into a massive ball up in the air so everyone looked up to watch her magic. Emberly watched the sinning orb. It was bigger than any she had done before but she knew Jasper and Artemis had seen similar from her before but she had tricks yet to delight them. Suddenly the embers formed pedals and separated into flowers floating over the room close enough that everyone could look up and see the details. They started to smoke and then she snapped and they burst into flames beginning to spin as balls of fire floated around the room above everyone mesmerizing in it's dance. The suddenly with a wave of her hand the fire blew out and smoke rolled lazily out the window. She knew it wasn't much no big explosions but it had been quite a lot of control. Not a cinge of embers had landed on a single person and she felt confident in that. She knew she was warm to the touch so she turned back to the king and queen her eyes glinting with the fire inside of her. The queen smiled impressed. "She has talent. She must have been working very hard. Is that why you kept her from us Jasper?" she asked him and Emberly frowned. "Your majesty it is very kind of you to notice how impressive my magic is. Jasper has been a very good host, I have been enjoying our relationship building in our time together." she was not going to be talked about as if she was not here. The king grinned and Emberly smiled at him as he nodded and spoke. "Quite right for Jasper to have taken the time to make sure everything was ready for this moment." he stood. "We will have to make sure you have access to all the tutors. Fire magic is to rare a gift not to be fully trained." he said and Emberly nodded softly. "Thank you your majesty for the support." she said and touched her pendent again now that she was feeling more cool turning it back on. The king nodded. This wasn't over yet of course everyone wanted to know about her and Jasper's mother was just the person gearing up to ask.

Leo noticed how nervous Meredith got and held her to his back. He kissed her hand and placed it over his mark on his chest as they watched Emberly's magic display. It was basic skills but done so eloquently it looked fancy. He was pleased his mother hadn't outright criticized her and hoped the same could be said for Meredith when she was presented to the court like this. She was known by the court but hadn't yet been presented. He turned to Meredith and whispered to her wondering what she thought of Emberly's display of magic.

Jasper squeezed Emberly's hand reassuringly before stepping off to the side, giving her plenty of room to perform the magic she'd been practicing so she'd on. He beamed as she pulled it off, incredibly impressed as he stepped over to her once she was finished, pressing a kiss to the back of her hand as he lifted it to his lips, not minding the heat, using his own magic to help cool her down. "Well done, my dear.." he murmured into her ear as he grinned at her, turning to face his parents as they spoke, nodding in thanks when his parents offered to give her the best tutors. "Thank you, Fa. I'm sure Emberly will go far with proper tutoring, and do nothing but impress." He said, squeezing her hand.

Meredith leaned her head against his shoulder gently as she watched Emberly's performance, eyes wide as she watched the flowers of fire dance around the room. She squeezed his hands as she watched Leo's parents compliment Emberly, turning her attention to Leo when he asked what she thought of the magic show. "It's beautiful.. Everyone seems impressed with it, especially your father." She whispered softly, fingers brushing over his jacket where his mark was underneath.

The queen grinned. "So strange that fire would be gifted to a..." she was about to say human when Emberly interrupted her. "I believe having the gift I understand why it picked me if you are interested." Emberly challenged and the queen though looking displeased, was definitely to interested not to let her continue and help up her hand to get her to share with all. Emberly smiled at Jasper. "You see learning Fire magic has taught me two things on why I would be gifted with it. The first is that it takes someone capable of great restraint in tremendous anger on one side and on the other someone that can truly feel passion and give it back. Passion so fierce it consumes like flames." she said looking at Jasper. She leaned over her lips brushing his cheek. "The second think I have learned is that it takes humility, those that are power hungry, greedy and manipulative will not be given fire magic but it is blessed to those who see the wonder of the little things, because a piece of ember falling is just as beautiful as a snowflake." she smiled over at Jasper. The queen was steaming. Emberly grinned as she looked back at the queen knowing she had described her in a few of those words but also elevated herself wich was something the queen had been wanting to avoid. Emberly smiled remembering a conversation in preparation for all this that that Jasper and her had. She had asked about his parents magic his mother was earth and wind. Emberly knew two magic was pretty rare but it seemed to pass genetically. The queen rose and walked down to Emberly circling her. "Your wings are large, what were you as a... Emberly turned interrupting her again. "My past life was nothing compared to the life I want to build here with your son." she said not wanting the queen to call her human today here in court because what she was now was not human nor would it ever be again. She would not let the Queen taint this moment with her past. The queen puffed her cheeks. "And just what do you think you will be building with my son?" she asked and Emberly smiled. "A better future, a future where differences are celebrated and each individual is just as important as the next." The queen laughed. "You have no idea how the crown weighs." she said and Emberly smiled knowing she got her. "If it is such a burden to you my queen perhaps you should take it off." The queen raised her hand to strike Emberly and Emberly smiled inhaling sharply but knew if she was struck she would win. The queen instead moved to her son and caressed his injured sheek. "How did this happen?" she questioned and Emberly looked at Jasper. She had found her weakness. She had used her powers once out of rage and hurt someone closest to her and the queen was going to use it now to destroy her.

Leo watched as his mother and Emberly danced a political battle when suddenly it got very personal. He hoped his brother would answer for Emberly in this one situation. It was a low blow and Leo held Meredith to him angry his mother had done this in front of the entire court. He looked down at Meredith and kissed her head. He was starting to rethink ever presenting Meredith in court, fuck tradition it was to dangerous for her emotional state. If someone tried to attack Meredith like this he would have freaked out, maybe he was protecting himself by keeping her from being presented.

Jasper watched closely as his mother interrogated Emberly, letting Emberly speak for herself, as she was handling herself rather well. However, when his mother raised a hand to strike her he was between the two of them in a second, holding Emberly behind him as he shielded her from his mother's potential blow, although his eyes were hard as he looked at his mother. He only grew angrier as she stroked his cheek and asked about his scar, squeezing Emberly's hands reassuringly. "You know well how difficult it can be to control magic when you're first learning, regardless of what type. Leo and I have had our fair share of injuries, both caused by our own magic or each other's. Every person in this room has let their magic get the better of them at any given moment, even you and Fa. But as you've seen, Emberly has incredible control and restraint, enough to master the basics of her magic after only a few days practice. I know it took myself weeks to master the simplest spells, and Fa once told me it took him months." He said simply, still furious with his mother for having even considered striking Emberly. "If you ever raise your hand to hit her again, she'll be wearing that crown a lot sooner than you'd like." He warned softly, voice quiet enough so only three of them could hear.

Meredith was glad for Leo's arms around her, as she was terribly worried for Emberly's sake, hoping she'd do well. More than that, she was terrified of having to go through the same thing, although with no magic, she'd have nothing to impress Leo's parents or the court with. She squeezed Leo's hands anxiously as she watched, glancing up at him to see how he was doing, able to tell he was just as mad as his brother seemed.

Emberly listened to Jasper and hid her face a moment in his shoulder. She bit her lip then ran her hands up his back as he threatened his own mother. "Jasper." She whispered. She slipped around and pressed her back to his front a moment looking at the queen displaying in her eyes that this was over. The queen moved back to the throne and Emberly turned to Jasper caressing his cheek. She felt his head leaned into her hand and she rose caressing his cheek with her lips and whispered to him. "Please let's leave." she pleaded. The king rose as the queen sat. "What an eventful morning but we do have matters to attend to. Emberly a pleasure to meet you. You may retire I know magic take a strain." he said and Emberly curtsied lightly to him bowing her head in respect then took Jasper's hand and walked out of the court the fae parting for her as she moved. Would they always part for her like this? Emberly walked out and as soon as the doors closed she turned to Jasper burying her head in his chest shaking. "I was doing so well then she... she pitted you against me and I had no words." she said feeling his arms on her bare arms and she knew she couldn't have done this without him.

Leo looked down at Meredith and sighed taking her hand carefully slipping out the back door with her. He didn't want to make a grand exit but he needed to get out of there. His mother had been out of control. She had been gasping at straws and it showed. Leo walked down the hall with Meredith. "Perhaps now is not the best time to go and visit Emberly she has a lot to process." he said and kissed her head. "Let's go to the library." he said softly.

Jasper ran his hands up and down her arms as she stood in front of him, watching his mother as she turned and headed back to her seat. He looked at his father as he stood and told them that they could retire, bowing his head. "Thank you, Fa." He said as he linked his arm with Emberly's and led her out of the throne room and a bit down the hall. When she stopped and turned into his arms he held her for a moment, smoothing a hand over her back before carefully lifting her into his arms to carry her the rest of the way to her room. "It's alright, my dear. You did wonderfully. She was being too harsh on you, but you did so well." He praised, pressing a kiss to her head as he set her down on her bed.

Meredith happily followed Leo out the back before Emberly and Jasper had even left, glad that they wouldn't have to stick around to speak with anyone after that, especially not his mother. She could tell that he was upset at what had happened in the throne room, pausing to wrap her arms around him in a hug, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips. "It's ok, Leo. You don't have to be worried." She reassured him, gently smoothing her hands over his chest, hoping that he was alright.

Emberly let Jasper gather her into his arms and carry her to her room. She didn't know why she was so shaken. He told her she did well and she pulled him back to her wrapping her arms around him. "She was angry that I wouldn't let her call me a human. I am not a human anymore." she said and looked at him. "I don't want the court to think of me as human. I want them to think of me as a fire fae, as a woman that could one day become their queen." she said looking up at him. "I didn't want them to know I scared you either but they do now, and I don't know what to do to change that impression that it gives to them." she said and curled into him. "But most importantly I want to make sure we are okay." she said and looked up at him. "I know what you say but I still feel guilty." she said and brushed her lips over his scar.

Leo smiled as Meredith stopped him hugging him and kissing him gently. He kissed her back his forehead dropping to hers. "I am worried what they are going to do to you. My mother is already cruel." he said and looked down at her. "You would benefit so much by being presented to the court but with her on the throne I feel it might almost be best to wait until after we are married and my brother is on the throne." he said and sighed closing his eyes.

Jasper moved to sit next to Emberly and held her close in his arms, pressing tender kisses to her forehead. "She was being too hard on you. She's always been harsh, but I've never seen her like that." He sighed, stroking her hair gently, leaning down to press a loving kiss to her lips. "I love you, Emberly. We're fine, I promise. You have no reason to feel guilty." He reassured her, nuzzling his nose into her cheek.

Meredith closed her eyes as he rested his forehead against her, running her hands up his chest and neck to rest against his cheeks. "I'll do what you think is best, Leo. I'm not afraid of your mother, but I understand that it would be better to wait. Although I'm worried about how Emberly would react, especially since we haven't spoken in a long time.."

Emberly sighed. Hearing him say he loved her made her want to say it back do badly. She felt him nuzzle into her and she turned her head so her lips met his. She kissed him deeply then breathed hard a hair away from his lips. She wrapped her arms around him and she arched her body into his. "Jasper." she whispered and kissed him again her lips greedy and pleading. Emberly sat up some so that she could reach him better. "Jasper... I..." she noticed the shining of her pendent against his skin and stopped dropping her hands off of him. She looked down wondering if he realized how tied her powers and emotions where. Leo nodded softly. "Emberly knows you are here. Jasper told her. Thought I think there has been so much going on she hasn't been able to come see you if all but the same is said for us." he said grinning softly hoping that it would soothe her. "From what Jasper has said she is pretty nervous about your meeting again. I think that means she wants to be your friend again." he said and shrugged. "But I haven't heard anything of the sorts." Leo said and prepared for bed moving in with her grinning as she rubbed his chest.
