Cassandra laid the last lit candle down onto the odd shape before letting out a small sigh. That should be enough. She headed back to the book, reading over the ritual one last time before nodding. It seemed that she had done everything correct but now she just had to move forward with the rest of it. Though she had no idea what she was going to say if a demon did happen to come out. All she wanted was proof that one existed. There was nothing that Cassandra wanted from the demon itself.

Picking up the ancient leather book, Cassandra stood at the top of one of the triangles. She kneeled down and picked up the horned mask and placed it over her head before cutting her hand and dripping the blood down over the candles. Taking in a deep breath, Cassandra spoke the ancient words. She didn't know the language that well but all she could do was hope she was reading it correctly. "Magna & monem ex inferis. Voco super te. Volo te scire secreta. Intelligi volo super terram et mundus."

Once she was finished speaking, Cassandra leaned pressed her hand down into the middle of the symbol, leaving some blood there before leaning back. She focused intently on that spot, waiting for something, for anything to happen. But after two minutes passed by, Cassandra let out a frustrated sigh before throwing the book to the side. "It didn't work." She grumbled before standing up onto her feet.

She headed to the camera she had set up and turned it off. "Maybe it's time to move on to something else. Ghosts, spirits, poltergeists, demons and nothing has shown itself." Pulling the horned mask off, Cassandra set it down on the desk before rubbing her face. The woman glanced back at it all. Her basement was her headquarters for her supernatural hunts and it showed. Her eyes dropping down to the candles, shaking her head. "I'll take care of those in a bit..." She mumbled to herself before heading upstairs to clean her hand up.

Ashizel had to admit just how tired he was. He was beyond bored of the life that he led because it was always the same. He trained the knights of Hell, day in and day out. He never was able to do anything else, no one ever summoned him - humans weren't foolish enough to try and summon a demon as powerful as he was. It was all but a death wish. Ashizel longed to be let free, for even just a few hours but that was never going to happen. He understood it, he was never going to get to play like he had been able to before he rose through the ranks and was eventually rewarded as a trainer of the knights of Hell.

He was heading to his chambers to rest for the evening when he felt a pull that he hadn't felt in so damn long. His eyes widened as his movements halted half way to his room. Ashizel's head snapped up, his eyes narrowing as his body started to evaporate. He looked around wildly, relieved that no one was around to see before he disappeared entirely.

Ashizel remained hidden even as he appeared before Cassandra. His eyes narrowed as he studied the woman curiously. He tilted his head to the side, raising an eyebrow as he watched her move about the room, grumbling to herself. He couldn't help but grin, noting just how annoyed she appeared to be. He had been summoned but he was curious, wanting to know why before he revealed himself.

He was quiet, simply remaining back and watching as Cassandra moved through the room. HE raised an eyebrow as he looked around the room, surprised by just how many supernatural artifacts that filled the room.

A few minutes later, Cassandra came back down. Her hand was now wrapped up in a bandage while carrying a phone between her ear and her shoulder. "Yes, Rachel. No, it didn't work at all. No demons came popping out. And I have found no evidence of any ghosts or whatever the hell. Yes, I did everything right. Damn it, I cut my hand for this one and nothing! At least for the ghosts the only thing I ruined was my sleep schedule."

She let out a small sigh before blowing out the candles and picking them up, setting them down on a table filled with other items used for rituals. "Listen, Rachel, I think I just need to move on from the undead creatures unless I get another idea for how to draw them out. I think it is time to move onto something that has a physical body and lives on Earth. Maybe I'll start with something easy like werewolves? Those have enough myths that I can find something to draw them out. And the full moon is close enough... Or perhaps I should just start with faeries. I heard they're tricksters but at least they won't eat me."

Cassandra headed over to the camera she had set up, grabbing it before setting it down into its charging station. She leaned against the desk, rubbing her head a bit before turning to go back up the stairs, turning off the lights once she did so. "I need to go to bed. I'll see you tomorrow at the coffee shop. We can talk about this more then... alright, goodnight.'

Ashizel's face scrunched as he listened to Cassandra on the phone. He didn't understand all that was going on because she certainly didn't look like someone that typically was summoning demons. She didn't seem to be someone that needed to seal a deal with a demon. Crossing his arms, Ashizel raised an eyebrow as the young woman began to list various other creatures. He wanted to reveal himself then, wondering what all she was doing. She seemed like she was getting herself caught up in a situation that she would have no way of getting out of.

Deciding that he would return back here in the morning, before Cassandra would leave for the coffeeshop, Ashizel returned to his home. He laid down, relaxing for most of the next few hours. He was restless though, there was no real chance of him being able to fall asleep. He rolled from side to side, a slight frown on his face as he pushed to his feet. It was toward the start of the morning so he was sure that Cassandra would wake soon enough.

Transporting back to her home, Ashizel chose to sit down on the couch in her living room. He didn't want to go peeking in on her in her bedroom so he chose to wait for her to make her own appearance. He leaned back, locking his hands together behind his head.

It wasn't long until Cassandra was making her way down into the kitchen. She was already showered, dressed and her make up was done for the day. Opening up the fridge, Cassandra pulled out a mason jar that was already filled with a breakfast smoothie bowl before heading over to her back. She put the mason jar in carefully before adding in her computer and a leather journal that was almost bursting with pages.

She then grabbed her bag before heading out of her house and walking down the street. Cassandra was only a few blocks away from the coffee shop that she was supposed to meet her friend. Heading inside, she greeted the barista behind the counter before ordering and paying. Taking her cup of coffee, Cassandra headed over to a corner spot before sitting down and taking a sip. She let out a pleasant hum before pulling out the jar and beginning to eat her breakfast.

The woman glanced out of the window, waiting for her friend to appear. Though a minute or so later, she had her journal out and was beginning to write down some notes. She needed to figure out what creature she wanted to work on next. It seemed best to do something that resided in the forest as there was a large national park nearby. Now she just needed to figure out what could possibly live where she was. Just because it lived in the forest, did not mean it would be in North America.

Ashizel followed after Cassandra, a few paces behind as his eyes narrowed. He had seen the journal that she put in her bag and he was beyond curious what was inside of it. He had a thought or two but he couldn't be sure until he got a peek at the pages. His fingers itched to reach out and rip the bag off of her shoulder so that he could see the book. Though he knew he needed to be patient, to see it when the girl opened the journal instead. Otherwise he would risk scaring her more than intended.

Humming to himself, Ashizel rushed forward so he could slide into the cafe before the door shut behind Cassandra. He tilted his head to the side, listening to the sound of her voice as she ordered her coffee before retreating to a table in the corner. Ashizel took a seat at the table, careful to squeeze himself between where the chair already sat and the table. His eyes narrowed as Cassandra pulled out her journal and got to scribbling away.

He was curious, deciding to mess around with Cassandra to see what sort of reaction he would get out of her. He wouldn't do too much, just a little something for entertainment value for him.

Ashizel reached out and pressed his fingers against the top of the journal, tugging it toward him just slightly. It only moved a bit but it would be enough to jar Cassandra's pen marks.

A sigh left Cassandra as the journal underneath her shifted and her clear writing became a bit messy. With her other hand, she reached out and pressed down against the journal, not wanting her writing to ruined again. Though before she could really start writing again she heard her name be called. "Cassandra!" Looking up, she saw her red-headed, green-eyed, freckled friend make her way towards her.

"Hi, Rachel!" Cassandra said as the woman sat down at the table, setting her own cup of coffee once she had done so. After they had gotten through asking how each other were, Cassandra pushed forward her journal and started to get into it. She explained how the ritual went last night, how nothing came and how she was thinking it was time to move onto a different species. "I just have tried summoning so many demons at this point and no matter what I find, nothing happens. It's just time to move on. They might exist but I am not finding what I need to prove that."

Rachel gave her friend a nod as she took the journal and started to flip through it. The journal was filled with articles, photos, and Cassandra's writings. This book in particularly concerned demons, ghosts and other spirts that Cassandra had tried to get proof on with no avail. It was almost bursting with information. "So, I guess you'll put this book away for now and move onto what? Maybe elves or fairies?"

Cassandra glanced off to the side before letting out a sigh. "I don't know. I was thinking about going into the forest but maybe I should try to catch a boat and see if I can find sirens or something... There are plenty of sea creatures. I'll have to think about it though, do more research. Maybe try to find something a little closer to home this time instead of road tripping again." She let out a warm laugh. "But no matter what, I need to go get a new journal."

Ashizel could barely contain his amusement as he watched Cassandra talk to her friend, going on and on about how she had tried to summon a demon unsuccessfully. He nearly wanted to reveal himself to show her that she was wrong, that she had managed to be quite successful. It took quite a bit of effort and power on her own to be able to summon a demon of his strength. If he were honest, he was impressed that such a young girl was capable of what she had done. He did not look the part of an all powerful demon unless he chose to turn into his demon form. Ashizel wondered what Cassandra would think if he revealed himself in his current form - not his true form. Would she think he was just a minor demon or would she realize he was one of the most powerful demons that was truly just bored out of his mind?

Listening to Cassandra talk about trying to find nymphs and sirens had the hair on the back of his neck standing on end. Ashizel straightened, his eyes narrowing a bit. His eyes dropped to the notebook that she had produced, talking about how she needed a new one. He hummed to himself, wondering if it was appropriate to buy her a gift. It wasn't as if it was the first time a demon had given something in return for.. well, her soul.

His face scrunched at the thought. Ashizel had no clue why Cassandra was doing this. Out of boredom? Surely that had to be the only reason because why else would a human go off in search of supernatural beings that may or may not exist? Making his mind up, Ashizel raised from the table that he had been sitting on before he disappeared altogether from the small cafe that they had been in. He had a bit of a mission to go on.

It was a long conversation between Cassandra and Rachel. Two cups of coffee and a muffin later, Cassandra was leaving the coffee shop. She hopped on her bike and started to ride off towards the book store for two reasons. First, she was hoping to find some inspiration as to what she should start hunting next, and secondly, Cassandra needed to buy a new journal for her next adventures.

Once there, Cassandra locked her bike up before heading inside. She took a moment to glance around the unusual bookstore. This particular store was a bit darker and contained many interesting things. As it was run by a witch. Not the type of witch that the woman was interested in hunting, however. She was rather sure that the woman didn't have any real magical abilities. The woman cast spells of nature but was unable to make anything levitate or transform or anything else of that nature.

Though, the owner was interested in the same things that Cassandra was but had a very different way of going about it. She bought books, Cassandra did research and went out into the field herself. They ended up making a pretty good team. The owner found books and materials that Cassandra could learn from and Cassandra could confirm to her if she saw any of the sorts when she was out.

"Good Morning Mabel." Cassandra said warmly as she walked into the shop. "What do you have in new today?"

Ashizel had originally thought to go to a plain store and simply take a journal because he was a demon, what could a measly little human do to him? Close to nothing, he was sure of it. But then he realized that he wanted to see what exactly Cassandra even wanted. He knew what a journal was but from what he gathered, the sort of things that had come out over the years... it was all so different. Maybe she wanted something fancier to keep her thoughts more organized?

With a huff at the thought, Ashizel took himself back to Cassandra with the snap of his fingers. He didn't show himself to her right away, watching as she stepped into a smaller bookstore. Ashizel raised an eyebrow, wondering if he should follow after her but then he realized that he wouldn't have the chance to purchase her journal if he didn't.

Ashizel shook his head, revealing himself in the shadows of the alleyway beside the store. He stepped around the corner, shoving his hands into his pockets as he stepped into the small store. Ash's eyes lingered on the store owner for a moment before he turned, pretending to browse through the too-cramped aisles of the store.

After a short conversation with the owner, Cassandra started to move through the aisles of the bookstore. Everything was a bit cramped since Mabel liked to fit as much merchandise as possible. Though, eventually, Cassandra was able to get to the section filled with journals. Her eyes started to shift from book to book, trying to find something that would be able to hold all of her notes, something sturdy enough to last. This wasn't something that would just sit at home. No, it was going to go place to place with her.

Even with that in mind, the young woman knew she didn't need anything overly fancy. It didn't need to have pockets or a three-ring binder section. It just needed to be durable and something that Cassandra wouldn't mind staring at for the next few months, at least. Though, normally, Cassandra tried to fit the appearance of the journal of what she would do next. At this point, she was rather sure she would do an abundance of forest creatures, and maybe take a break from it once her new journal was filled.

Her eyes shifted to the side when she found the perfect one. A medium-sized leather journal with a large tree design in the front of it. There was even a small leather clasp as well. Perhaps that would keep all the extra pages she would add from falling out. Cassandra looked up at the brown-haired man that was in between her and the book she wanted to get. Cassandra offered a soft smile as she approached. "Sorry, I just need to get around you." Cassandra told him as she then proceeded to try her best to get around the man in the too cramped aisles.

Ashizel was listening intently to every movement that Cassandra made. He smirked at the thought, tilting his head to the side as she moved around. He was silent, hardly paying attention to the display in front of him. The journals that Cassandra was seeking. He couldn't be sure what she was looking for exactly but he wouldn't be the least bit surprised if she ended up right where he was. Ash looked up when Cassandra spoke, offering one of his oh-so-charming smiles. He gave a nod of hsi head, moving just barely out of Cass' way.

"My apologies, miss," Ashizel all but purred. He had to bite back an actual smirk as she squeezed past him. There wasn't all that much room behind him but he could have stepped back a bit more to allow Cassandra enough room to move comfortably. But her body moving against his sent a chill down his spine that he hadn't been prepared for. Ashizel sidestepped when Cassandra was finally far enough from him so that he could turn and face her directly.

Ash shoved his hands into his pockets, shifting mindlessly as he studied Cassandra's form. He raised an eyebrow when she selected her choice. "And what could a pretty girl like you want with a journal?" Ash teased, his voice coming out a bit rough despite the innocent demeanor that he was giving off.

Cassandra's eyes lifted up from the book, looking at the man beside her as he asked his question. She hesitated for a moment, looking down at her journal as she thought about something to make up as to why she needed it. It was not like Cassandra was going around, telling strangers that she was trying to hunt down the supernatural. Though she had never felt the need to lie about what she was doing, mostly because people didn't ask. In other words, she didn't have a cover story to tell the man.

Her head lifted back up as she glanced at the stranger. Since she couldn't think of a lie, she might as well tell the truth. Besides, he was in this bookstore. So hopefully his reaction wouldn't be that bad. "I am hunting for any evidence that the supernatural exists," Cassandra told him. "I finished my last investigation so now I need a new journal to move onto the next one."

Pulling the journal into her chest, Cassandra turned to the man completely as she stood a little straighter. Her head tilted to the side for a moment as she looked him over. She had never seen him in the store before, maybe he was a tourist? "Are you looking for a journal as well?" She asked. Though once the words were out of her mouth, Cassandra regretted saying anything. She could have just left to avoid the awkward situation they were surely about to run into.

Ashizel was surprised when he started to realize that Cassandra wasn't only going to do this the one time. Or a second time. He had no clue how many of these so-called investigations that she had done but he was beginning to realize that she would likely continue on and on. He wondered how fruitless her other investigations had been because she had no clue he was the demon that she had managed to successfully summon during her last one.

Nodding, Ashizel let out a low hum as he tilted his head to the side. "Interesting," he commented in a low voice. He shook his head, shifting his weight from one side to the other before his attention refocused on the girl beside him. "And what exactly do you... investigate?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. He already knew the partial answer but he was certainly curious about her past investigations and any future ones.

It wasn't very often that you came across people wanting to discover the supernatural. Ashizel nearly scoffed at the thought but he managed to maintain his composure.

"No, I was just browsing. The store looked interesting and I figured I could just step inside and see if anything caught my eye," Ash explained. He gave her a polite smile before shrugging.

"Have you found any evidence of anything supernatural?"

Cassandra was quiet as she took a moment to look over the man's face, to listen to his voice. She wasn't sure if he found what she did all that interesting. Perhaps he did, but it was hard for her to tell. In the least, she hoped that he didn't find it too weird. Usually, Cassandra didn't mind so much but it was a bit more difficult when you were face to face with someone who might consider you slightly crazy.

The young woman cleared her throat a little as he asked what she investigated. "Like I said, the supernatural," Cassandra told him softly, hesitating for a moment before clarifying for the man. "I was working on ghosts, demons, and things of that nature. And while I found some interesting things, it wasn't enough for me to say that I had solid, undeniable evidence. So, for now, I am moving onto other supernatural beings, focusing on wood type creatures. Like Elves, Gnomes, Fairies and such. And I'll do that until I find something or am ready to move onto the next thing. Perhaps, sea creatures."

She offered the man a polite smile before she started to shuffle around him again, getting ready to make her way towards the cash register so she could pay for her journal and get out. "As for evidence, there have been some interesting things but not enough. It can't just be anything, it needs to be something that is unrefutable. Which is a bit difficult." Cassandra told him honestly.

"Anyways, I should probably go pay for this." She told him as she lifted the journal up slightly.

"The supernatural could mean a lot of different things, miss," Ashizel pointed out in a low voice. His lips twitched upward in a smirk as he tilted his head to the side, his eyes narrowed just slightly. He studied her as she began to answer, nodding a couple of times to show that he was listening to her. To Ashizel, it was fascinating that someone could even want to research the supernatural. For a human like her to be doing so, it was completely and utterly reckless. In the grande scheme of things, humans were basically defenseless. They were incredibly naive as well so that only continued to make their situation worse. Usually.

His smirk only grew at Cassandra's mention of fairies. He straightened his back, humming to himself for a moment. "I would be careful around fairies, miss. They don't all sing songs and dance around circles in the middle of the forest," Ashizel called in a teasing voice as he stepped to the side to let Cassandra through.

His face scrunched at the thought. Fairies really were at the low end of creatures that he liked - most were devious and ready to jump at any opportunity to get ahead. Which wasn't unlike Ashizel but at least most of the time, you knew what you were getting when it came. Ashizel never held who he was from people, he didn't see much of a point in it at all.

The only reason it was fun with Cassandra was because she had no clue who he was. Or that she was the whole reason he was even here in the first place. If it hadn't been for her, Ashizel would have continued his normal, every day routine of training the knights of hell.

For a moment, Cassandra glanced back at the man. It was strange that he was so interested in what she was doing. After all, most who found out thought that she was a bit...well mentally unchecked. Though it appeared that he didn't think so, or at least was better at hiding it than others were. In the least, it appeared that he found her amusing. Still an upgrade... She gave him a low hum in response as he warned her about fairies. "You make it sound as though you know this for a fact."

"Though yes, plenty of lore on them. Some say they are sweet and others say they are evil in cunning. Though, there is really only one way to find out." Cassandra lifted her journal up a small bit, indicating that she was going to find out what the truth was. "But do not worry about me. I am always careful." She offered the strange man a small smile before turning and heading towards the front of the store.

Once at the register, Cassandra bought the journal as well as a few new pens from the store owner before heading out.

For the briefest of moments, Ashizel debated on whether he should flat out tell Cassandra who he was. Or, at least where he had come from. But then he realized that would end the fun far too early for his liking. Instead, he would drop a hint or two until she figured it out all on her own. He had no idea how long this little game of his would take but he was eager to truly begin.

Bowing his head slightly, Ash gave a shrug of his shoulders. "Perhaps you are not the only one curious about the other side," he answered calmly. Oh, he was certainly curious about humans. Not as a whole but Cassandra in particular. It was odd to him that she seemed so eager to prove supernaturals' existence. Why? It wouldn't do anything for her. If anything, it would cause a war between humans and the supernatural creatures they were afraid of.

Ashizel did not claim to know everything, no, but he knew that humans tended to react to the unknown with fear and aggression. He looked up to meet her gaze before he turned, heading out of the shop without so much as another word or glance back to Cassandra.

Once Cassandra was out of the store, she glanced up and down the street to see if she could see where the strange man went. Though when it seemed he was out of sight, she let out a small sigh. That had been a rather odd conversation, but admittedly, it went better than what normally happened. Though, she wondered why that was. There was something unusual about it...but there was no reason to dwell on it. After all, it was unlikely she would ever see him again.

So, the young woman started to make her way home, knowing that it was time to start researching again. Though, what would it be? There were plenty of mythical creatures that were said to live in the forest but of course there were still different regions for each thing.
