Rebecca Barnes (Starfire;)

Rebecca was getting ready for work ready to help find this missing girl. She wanted to help however she could. Rebecca Barnes went to school for history but took a minor in journalism but photography specifically. She ended up going into investigative photography. As she finished Becca looked in the mirror and smiled softly before grabbing her equipment and walking out her front door.

Getting to work Becca decided she’d pitch this idea to the editor and see what they thought. She sighed as she placed her lunch in the break room and making her way to her desk. Humming softly “good morning Autumn “ she smiled politely.

Autumn was sitting at her desk, clicking away at her computer and catching up on her routine - something she should have had done sooner but since she had only arrived moments before Rebecca (she had slept through her alarm and was subsequently running behind), she was still working at it when Rebecca approached her desk. She looked up and returned the smile.

"Good morning," she said. She started to look back at her screen but kept her eyes on Rebecca's because she could tell just by her presence that there was something more than pleasantries on the other woman's mind.

Rebecca didn’t want to just spit it out she wanted to discuss it properly but figured that may be being straightforward would be best. She tossed her blonde hair to the side and bit her lip trying to figure this out. “You uh doing all right?” She cleared her throat. “Actually I’m sorry for being so weird, but I wanted to talk to you about working a piece together...”

Rebecca sighed softly rubbing her hands together “I wanted to see if you wanted to try and help with the missing girl.. I mean I feel bad and want to help some how.. “ she was rambling. “Damn sorry I’m rambling now.”

Autumn gave Rebecca a reassuring smile. "It's okay," she said calmly. She picked up a flier from her desk that read
"Missing: Amber Zales
Age: 17
Last seen: August 1st" with a picture of a teenage girl with short red hair and green eyes. There was a phone number below the picture.

"This girl?" Autumn inquired, although she didn't really need an answer. "That whole situation has been weighing on me," she admitted. She looked at Rebecca sincerely and seriously. "Yes, I would like to work together on this. Even if we can't solve it, we need to at least give her a voice."

Rebecca has a younger sister and she couldn’t imagine how much this family must be missing the young woman. She wanted to do something about it or at least contribute to help aid this. She looked over the flyer and nodded “yeah that one.” Rebecca crosses her arms and thought about this.

Rebecca leaves against Autumn’s desk, “that’s great, thanks, so um how did you want to approach this?” She rubbed her hand against her pants.

Autumn watched Rebecca fidget and smiled to herself. She had always found something charming in her quirks. She sat for a few moments before responding as she collected her thoughts.

Finally, Autumn let out a sigh. "Well I think the first logical course of action is to reach out to the family," she said. She always found that to be the best way to make sure the piece gets as much accuracy as possible. She just wasn't sure how easy to contact the family would be in this particular case.

Rebecca watched as Aurimn began speaking and she nodded in agreement with her. They would have to talk this over and figure something out letting them know they wanted to help. “How are we going to reach the family?” She asked curiously.

Rebecca had some weird “quirks” she was kind of nervous sometimes when speaking with people she found attractive. She felt shy but she shook those thoughts way because, bigger picture and more pressing matters.

Autumn indicated the flier. "Well the phone number on here goes to a tip line they've set up so that's really no good," she explained. "However, I can do some digging and see if I can find some contact info for her parents." She checked the time on her computer screen before looking back up at Rebecca. She was trying not to let it show that she was excited to be working with her, and not just in a professional way. She smiled at her for what felt like the millionth time before speaking again.

"So I'm going to take the next couple hours to find out any background information I can. How about we meet somewhere for lunch to start going over things?"

Rebecca watched Autumn explain everything as she nodded, “yeah that’s fine, I have to go get some photos done..” she smiled politely “okay, I’ll come back later then..” Rebecca went to grab her camera and went into the dark room to check her work.

Rebecca hopes they could do something to help that young girl, anything would help right? She sighed as she continued her work.

Autumn nodded and watched as Rebecca left the office. She turned back to the computer to finish up her tasks as quickly as she could. She then looked down at the flyer, sighing. She knew what she had to do but knew that it wouldn't be easy for her. This would definitely not be the first time she spoke to Amber Zales's family.

Autumn picked up the receiver to her office phone and dialed the number she still knew by heart. It rang a few times then the voicemail greeting played. Autumn took a deep breath.

"Hey, it's Autumn," she stared. "Listen I'm calling to talk about Amber. One of my co-workers wants to work on a piece on her. I really think it will help get people's attention, especially with today's True Crime obsessed culture. Please call me back on my cell as soon as you guys get this."

Autumn replaced the receiver and put her head in her hands. She hadn't told Rebecca, but this case was very personal for her.

Rebecca was off taking some photographs for a fluff piece, sometimes that was good to clear her mind of all the negativity. It helped her cope with how cynical the world was. She finished up before heading back to her dark room to have them developed. Becca hummed as she walked into her dark room
And began to work, humming softly.

A couple hours later she walked back into office and looked around finding Autumn, “so any luck with the family?” She asked softly. “Sorry, I don’t want to seem pushy or anything but I really want to help.. any form that I can.”

Autumn looked up at Rebecca and smiled. "You're totally fine," she said reassuringly. "I was able to call their home phone and leave a message, so I'm just waiting for a call back." Autumn went back to the documents she had pulled up on the computer and clicked print.

"I'm gonna take these to our lunch meeting," she said as she checked the time. "Meet me at the cafe down the street in about a half an hour?"
