Kris smiled, opening his arms so that Tao could snuggle up to him, just like they used to do when they were in the dorms together.

Tao moved over to Kris before snuggling up against him, ‘c-can I ask you something?’

“Sure.” Kris said, wrapping an arm around the younger, and tucking the other behind his own head.

Tao closed his eyes and tried to go back to sleep but he couldn’t. It took another hour to be able to sleep and even wrapped up in Kris’s arms, he woke up crying.

“Another nightmare?” Kris asked whenever Tao began crying once more. He really didn’t know how to make the younger feel better.

He could see that Kris was struggling to find a way to calm him down. He just got out of the bed and went back to the couch.

Kris got up and followed him. “Tao...talk to me, please?” He said, moving to kneel in front of the younger. “I want to help you, but it’s been so long since we’ve been in the same room together..” he said, remembering the last time they talked.

It was a couple days after they both left SM. Kris asked Tao to meet him for lunch because he wanted to ask him something. He remembered Tao laughing at him when he told him he had feelings for him and how Tao said he would never look at him like that, since they were just friends...and then that was it. Kris didn’t see or speak to him anymore until tonight when he showed up.

‘I don’t know how you can help me. I don’t know. I honestly don’t know why you’d want to either. After the way I treated you, I deserved everything that happened to me. I deserved it.’

“No you didn’t. No one deserves to be abused or almost killed or any of that.” Kris shook his head. “I want to help you, please.”

‘But I treated you horribly when you confessed to me. I could’ve told you nicely but I was an ass so I yes I did deserve all of that.’

“I’m over it, Tao. I’ve forgiven you for what happened then.” Kris said, reaching up to take his hand.

Tao looked at Kris, ‘doesn’t mean I didn’t deserve it.’

Kris looked at him, “it was partly my fault...when you kissed me in the dorm that night...I thought it meant you felt the same, that’s the whole reason I asked..”

‘It isn’t your fault,’ he told him, looking back down. He jumped when there was a loud banging on the door.

Kris looked towards the door before getting up. He went over and stopped, “whose there?” He asked, not unlocking the door just yet.

‘This is police. Open up.’

Tao froze. Oh no. They had found him. They were going to take him to jail.

Kris looked over at Tao, motioning for him to go upstairs and wait in his room. Once Kris heard his bedroom door close, he unlocked the door. “Can I help you, officer?”

‘Yes. I have a few questions to ask you about your friend Zitao. Is that okay?’

@ Ian.Eastwood

“Sure. What’s going on?” Kris asked as he let the officer in.

‘We got a 911 call from a few people in his neighborhood saying they saw him running from his house covered in blood, crying. When we went to the house, we found his boyfriend dead. Would you happen to know where he is?’
