(D)anger

In the early hours of the morning the city was still. Very few things moved about. On the edge of town however, it was like things were just waking up. The roar of a bike engine, was the first thing to break the silence of the peaceful night, then another, then several more.

Behind a concrete fence, Joel sat on his bike, nervously holding onto the grips. It wasn't the long ride ahead that made him nervous, it was that unlike his brothers, he would be breaking off on a solo run. Something truly important, something different.

In the sea of men, on bikes, wearing their leather cuts, that announced to the world who they were. Joel sat with a denim jacket pulled around his back, his rings and his piece tucked away in a secret compartment on his bike. The group pull out of the compound, his brothers heading north, straight to the highway. Joel, peeled off south, heading through the city.

As she was turning down one of the alleys to get home, she was suddenly grabbed onto. Isabella felt herself get slammed against the brick wall, her head snapping back against it hard. She let out a groan before opening up her eyes to see a large looming man over her, holding a knife out to her. Fear started to kick into Isabella's body but she wasn't sure what to do. Though before she could even move, the man under the mask started to speak. "Give me your money or I'll slash you up!" He growled.

Isabella became tense but she was quick to do as he said, trying to dig into her purse to find any resemblance of cash. Though her eyes started to swell up when all she could find was a five-dollar bill. It wasn't like her to carry cash anymore. Everything was digital now so she tended to have less money in her actual possession. Lifting the bill up, Isabella pushed herself further back against the wall. "T-This is all I have." She whimpered to the man.

The man pressed the knife against her neck hard, now beginning to draw some blood. "That better not be all you have girly." The man growled at her. "Better find something in that purse that you wouldn't miss. It's either that or your life."

The soft rumble of his engine bounced off the tall buildings, as Joel rode through the quiet streets of town. Joel had his head on a swivel, watching for any potential threats. Thirty minutes into his ride, as he was almost making his way out of the city, he spotted something.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted two figures down an alleyway. The caught his attention, first as potential threats, skulking in the dark. But after a few seconds the glint of a blade held next to the woman, told him all he needed to know.

Joel, although a gangster, who had committed great violence himself, knew he couldn't let a woman get hurt, by such a coward. He turned and navigated his towards the alley, rolling up next to the two people. "Evening, I'm lost, can you help me?" he asked quietly.

The man swiveled immediately as he heard a voice from around him. His eyes narrowed as he saw that it was a man on a bike that was coming closer. The armed man wrapped his hand against Isabella's throat, pushing her back against the wall, pinning her there.

As for the bloody knife in his hand was now pointed at the man that was making his way towards them. While the thief was trying to keep control of the situation, he was worried about having to fight two on one. He had a knife but he liked his odds with the girl alone much better.

"Get out of here if you don't want to end up dead, bleeding on the ground!" The man yelled at the other.

Isabella had pure panic in her eyes. Her hands reached up and gripping onto the man's arm, trying to stop him from choking her. She tried to scream out for help but it came out weak and breathless. "Help... me"

Joel looked at the man, curious for a moment. "But for that to happen, you'd have to come over here, closer to me," he said lightly.

Joel was a little mad, that his piece was safely placed inside his compartment, and not simply in a holster. That fact made this situation a little more dangerous than he was usually comfortable with.

He moved his bike slightly closer, "Besides, my bike is worth quite a bit," he said. He readied himself to grab the guy if he moved close enough.

The criminal let out a scowl before letting go of Isabella, but doing so by throwing her on the ground. He then leaped forward to try and swipe at the man that was threatening him. He wasn't going to let him get away with this.

Once Isabella was on the ground, she scrambled to her feet, breathing heavily as she tried to catch her breath. She moved onto her feet, and started to run down the alleyway.

Joel reached out, and grabbed the man as he swiped at him. The motion was practiced, but Joel was rusty, and the thief managed to connect with the knife against Joel's other arm. Joel shifted his weight and pushed the thief's head down smacking it against the metal of the handlebars.

Joel then, climbed off the bike, still holding onto the thief's arm. "That was really dumb, I abhor violence against women," he whispered softly into the guys ear.

Joel kicked the guy's leg out from under him, letting him crumple to the ground, before leaning down and picking up the blade, that had clattered out of his hand after making contact.

He climbed back onto his bike, and rode forward towards the woman, who had taken off. "Ma'am," he called calmly.

The blood was rushing through Isabella's ear was so loud that she almost didn't year the man call out behind her. With fear in her eyes, she glanced back, only beginning to calm down once her eyes landed on the man who had saved her. She glanced past him, seeing that her attacker wasn't anywhere behind him.

It took her a few moments to convince herself to slow down, but eventually Isabella stopped running and turned to the stranger. Blood was dripping down her neck from the cut and bruises were forming from the man choking her. She hesitated as she looked over at him.There was no doubt in Isabella's mind that he saved her but her fear was still running rampant in her mind. "I-I... Thank you so much. I-I don't know w-what I would have done with you didn't find me." Isabella stammered out.

Joel rode up beside her, he checked her over, noticing the blood at her neck. He smiled softly, "It's nothing, would you like a ride? get you looked at," he asked softly. He pointed to her neck, "that looks like it hurts," he added.

He shifted on his bike, to allow her space to climb onto the back of it. He knew he was going out of his way, and that this would just take extra time; but there was something about this girl.

As the man pointed at her neck, Isabella reached up and pressed her fingers against her neck. As she pulled her hand back, she winced slightly at the sight of her own blood on her hand. She had known that the man had cut her but her adrenaline was beginning to wear down now. "Hopefully, it is better than it feels." She murmured to him.

"Yes, that would be very kind of you." Isabella glanced him over for a moment before wearily climbing onto the bike behind him. She wrapped her arms around him tightly.

Joel nodded softly, he started up his bike engine. He made sure to check she was holding on, before moving the bike forward out of the alleyway. He turned heading towards the hospital.

Joel knew, this extra trip was going to put him behind schedule, but he did have a long multi day ride ahead of him. He could make up the time, by riding through the night.

Isabella held onto the man tightly as he rode down the streets. The air around her was cool, causing her to shiver slightly and move a bit closer into him, not wanting to get frozen out. Plus, it was easier to stay close as her hair was currently swirling around her in the wind.

As he came to a stop at the hospital, Isabella took a moment before slowly sliding off of the motorcycle and onto her feet. Her eyes lifted up to meet his. "Before you go, can I please get your name?"

Joel smiled softly at her when she asked for his name. "My name is Joel, do you want me to come in with you ma'am?" he asked. He settled his bike onto its' stand.

He was finding that this woman was quiet attractive, and he honestly wanted to spend some more time with her.

"I'm Isabella. And, yes I would like that a lot." She said softly, giving a small little nod as she did so. In truth, even though she knew the hospital would be safe, Isabella felt nervous. And having someone like him at her side right now would make her feel safer.

Slowly, she turned and started to make her way into the hospital. Only looking back once to make sure that Joel was following her inside.

Joel nodded lightly, he followed her into the hospital. He couldn't help but feel more and more exposed the further he moved from his weapon, and his bike, but he managed to play it cool

He walked with her up to reception, "ah, can we get someone to help over here, this young lady was cut," he called out.

The woman behind the reception desk got all of Isabella's information before having her sit down in the waiting room. Considering the time of night, there was no one waiting. So it only took a few moments before Isabella was called out to the back to get tended to.

The doctor glanced over the wound on her neck, asking Isabella what happened and such. Though, he was rather quick to disinfect it and wrap it up nicely before giving Isabella some instructions on how to care for it until it was healed.

Joel was kept in the waiting area, while she got treated. He waited patiently, yet nervously. He smiled and looked up when she came back out.

"I'm glad to see you got patched up, Isabella," he said softly. He waited for a moment, "are you alright for a ride home, I really should get going," he asked.

Once Isabella was back in front of Joel, she offered him a somewhat weak smile. She was thankful for what he had done for her but Isabella was still rattled over what had occurred. For a moment, she hesitated before walking forward and lightly hugging Joel. "Thank you," She whispered.

The young woman took a moment before pulling back and looking up at him. "Yes, please. I don't live too far away."

Joel hugged her back lightly when she hugged him. He smiled thinking for a moment. "Okay I suppose I can drive you home," he said lightly. He reached out for her arm, offering to walk with her back to his bike.

He knew he was putting himself further behind schedule, but to be honest, he didn't really care. There was just something about this woman, that made him forget about his troubles.
