Savannah let a shudder run through her body at Jason's answer. She swallowed thickly, trying to ignore the panic that was building inside of her. She knew that if she didn't perform absolutely perfect tonight, that she might now even see tomorrow. That she might never get to speak to her mother again or see her or... anything else. Savannah could only nod stiffly when Jason mentioned when she needed to be ready, biting down on the inside of her lip.
She was thinking about all of these things, not even noticing when Jason pulled open her door. It wasn't until he broke the silence that she jolted, looking up to him sharply. Her eyes widened and she scrambled forward, all but launching herself out of the back seat. Savannah's stomach twisted as Jason's arm snaked around her waist. She opened her mouth, wanting to reason with him, but she realized that Jason wasn't going to waver. That she was going to have to do as she was told if she wanted to somehow make her way out of this.
"I-I'm.. sorry," Savannah started, wincing when her voice shook. No. That wasn't a good start. She shook her head, clearing her throat before she glanced up to him. She forced a smile to her face and turned, to set her hand on his chest. She remembered the last time she had touched him unprovoked and how he'd slapped her but she hoped if she was showing an effort to behave the way he wanted her to, that he would be kinder. "I'm just not used to such treatment. Being able to have things that I don't normally have... that's all. It's just a lot to take in," Savannah explained. She was praying she was somehow managing to be convincing enough because she needed to gather herself before tonight.
