I play quite a few instruments, I've always had a kind of... affinity for music, I guess? It was about the only thing I was good at in school so I really put all of my time and effort into learning as many instruments as I could. Primarily, I'm a guitar, cornet and trumpet player. I started learning guitar when I was about 12, and I was given a cornet when I was in primary school so about... 10? Guitar was just for fun, but I really got good at cornet quite quickly. I played in the school's brass band, and I was also given the chance to play in the school and district jazz bands. That was a whole load of fun as it allowed me to go from playing cornet to trumpet, hugely similar instruments though, even if I do count them as two different instruments
I'm also fairly proficient in keyboards as you kinda had to be to do the composition aspects of my uni degree. Aside from that I can also play the bass, drums and ukulele and I can half-play the piano and clarinet, although I'm nowhere near performance level on either of them.
I currently own three guitars - two electrics and an electro-acoustic - and those are my babies. The cornet I had sadly belonged to the school, so I had to give it back in when I left the brass band when I was 18. I'd love to get a hold of one for myself but they rarely come up for sale in the area I'm in. I had a trumpet for years that I only sold a few years ago because I didn't have the time to practice due to uni commitments etc, but I am now seriously considering getting another one. Same goes for bass. I had a ukulele but it may or may not have broken when I let it slide down the wall via the headstock instead of putting it on a hanger so it's away to the great ukulele haven in the sky. My most valued instrument that I own, though, is the (quite frankly incredibly outdated) Casio keyboard that was my grandad's. I could probably update and get a newer one for about half the price it would cost me to get the one I have serviced but to be perfectly honest, I don't want a new one. I just love that I have this one thing from my grandad that really meant a lot to him, and I get to keep that. I don't play keyboard often anymore but if I feel like I particularly miss him, I'll pull that keyboard out and have a little tinkle, just so I can feel close to him again, y'know?
I've always wanted to learn the violin but that was the only instrument I was expressly forbidden from having as a child. My dad can't stand them.
