A Wild Ride

Nova walked into the local bar with her friends, glancing around at the people in there as they made their way to the bar. She was new to the city, so she really didn’t know many places to go to. She had heard that the area in town they were in was not the best place to be. Nova was used to where she used to live. It wasn’t uncommon for cities to have sketchy areas. She had never been big on going to bars, but her friends invited her and she didn’t want to tell them no. She walked up to the bar and ordered herself a beer. She handed the man her cash, then looked over as her friends got their drinks. She nodded when they said they would meet her at the table. Nova put her change in her purse, then grabbed her beer. She turned to walk and smacked into a guy that was behind her. “Oh shit, I’m sorry,” she said. Thankfully she didn’t spill too much beer on him. She looked at him, then grabbed some napkins from the bar. She offered it to him, “I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you standing there.” She explained. Nova felt awful because she knew if someone spilled something on her she would be so upset. She glanced over when she realized the two guys that were with him were staring at her and glaring. She set her beer down on the bar, "Let me buy you a drink. I won't feel as bad then." She said, going to reach into her purse to get some money out of her purse. She could feel the guys still glaring. She wondered why his friends seemed like they were so pissed.

Jacob glanced up from his conversation as he felt beer start to pour down his arm. He glanced behind him, a scowl on his face as he grew ready to tell whoever it was off. Though the moment his eyes landed on a beautiful woman, the scowl quickly disappeared. For a moment, he looked at her with a blank face as she apologized and started to hand him napkins. Jacob glanced down at his hands, seeing that they were filling up before he looked back to her, a smile beginning to grow along his face.

"No, it really is no problem." Jacob started to reassure her as he stood up a bit straighter. "I am sure that it was just an accident. But, how can I say no to a drink?" The smile on his face widens and Jacob turned back to the people he was with. It was clear that they were all rather annoyed, some of them were upset than others about the interruption. Jacob turned to one of the men and shook his hand, unknowing to the stranger that he was sliding a small bag into his sleeve. "Another time, then." With that, Jacob was on his feet and focusing the new girl off to the bar.

Now that he was out of the view of the others, Aaron reached back and started to wipe the beer from his shoulder. "What is a pretty girl like you doing in a place like this?"

Nova nodded when he accepted her offer for the drink. She turned to the bar, letting him finish whatever he was doing with his friends. When he spoke she looked at him, "Me? Oh I was just hear with some friends. I have never actually been to this bar before." She said. She gave him a small smile, "What did you want to drink?" She asked as she looked at the bartender.

She glanced over at her friends and noticed them looking at her. She didn't miss the looks they were giving her as if she should keep talking to this guy. Nova paid for his drink, then looked at him. "I'm sorry for messing up your conversation with your friends." She apologized. "I'm Nova by the way." She told him as she offered him her hand. She didn't know why she was getting so flustered over this guy. He was just some stranger. There was something about him that made her nervous though.

"Your friends brought you here?" Jacob asked, some surprise in his voice. He turned his head back, looking over at her group of friends. This certainly wasn't the type of place that pretty girls would hang out unless they were trying to get high. Though, none of her friends looked like any of his current clients. Once they were at the bar, Jacob held up one finger to the bartender, who then came over and set a bottle of beer down in front of him, already knowing his brand without asking.

Jacob gave her a little shrug as she apologized. "Don't sweat it, our conversation was done anyways." Slowly, he turned to the girl in front of him. He took a quick look over her, trying not to be too obvious as he did so. Nova really was a very attractive woman. Though she seemed like too much of a good girl so he wondered if he really would be able to get his way with her. Jacob glanced down at her hand that she offered to shake, but Jacob took it and pressed a kiss to the back of her hand. "My name is Jacob. It is a pleasure to meet you." A large grin moved over his face before he let go of her hand. "Does a girl like you enjoy dancing?"

Nova glanced back at her friends as he looked at them. She looked at him and nodded, "Yeah, I think Katie grew up around here and wanted to come to this place. I don't know much about the place. I just moved to this city. I'm from Chicago." She said, laughing a little. She watched as the bartender set down his beer. How often did this guy come to this place.

As he took her hand and kissed it she was kind of caught off guard. Most guys didn't do that to her. He seemed very confident in himself. It was a nice change. Plus he wasn't throwing out awful pick up lines. "It's nice to meet you too." She replied, feeling her small hand slip from his fingers. Nova nodded, "Yeah I dance. I haven't in awhile, but I do." She said. She finished the little bit of alcohol that was in her glass and set it on the bar. She was not about to leave her drink sit around in this bar.

A small hum left Jacob as Nova mentioned that she had a friend that wanted to come here. He could only assume that she knew what she was getting herself into. Most women didn't come here unless they were forced to, tricked or wanted to get high. He was willing to bet that this Katie girl was in the third category. Though, he wouldn't know. He just dropped off the supply that the dealers used to sell. So their clients weren't any of his concern.

Jacob turned his full attention back to her, a bit of a smile on his face. "Then, would you like to dance with me?" Jacob asked her. With a girl as pretty as her, he wasn't going to not take a chance. Besides, right now she seemed interested enough. Unless she just felt bad about spilling her drink on her. Though, if that was the case, he didn't mind using it to get a dance from her. "I don't think your friends would mind if you were with me for a few more minutes."

Nova nodded, "Yeah, I will dance with you." She said before she looked at her friends. They were already distracted. She walked with Jacob to the dance floor and began to dance with him. Nova looked at him, "So you seemed kind of concerned about the fact that I was in this bar." She said. "Do you mind telling me why that is?" She asked.

She didn't know why but as much as she wanted to be around Jacob she had a feeling there was more to him than what he led on. He seemed so nice though.

Once Nova agreed to a dance, Jacob wrapped an arm around her waist and slowly walked her out to the dance floor. Once there, he started to move to the music, keeping close to her as he did so. Also, he made sure to pay close attention to her body as well. Not only did he just want to take her in, but he also wanted to ensure that he was moving with her. That he was matching her dance moves.

Jacob let out a small chuckle and shook his head at Nova's question. "It wasn't concern that I had. More like, surprise. Surprise that such a gorgeous woman would come to a... grimy bar like this one. You would think that someone like you would be worried about who you might meet."

Nova shrugged, "This isn't exactly a place I would frequent, but it is okay to stop at since my friends wanted to." She said. She continued to dance with him, feeling his hands on her body. He seemed to nice compared to some of the people at the bar. She wondered if it was just a smoke screen for what he really was.

"I assume you come here a lot." She said, noticing that he looked curious to how she knew that. "The bartender knew your name." She said, laughing.

Jacob let out a low chuckle as Noca assumed that he came there a lot. It was true, that Jacob frequented this bar. But there were plenty of other places that he went to as well. Many other bars, night clubs, and raves. Both sleazy like this one and high end. Though that was his job, to go to places and hand over the stash. "I suppose that you could say that," Jacob said for a moment. "It's just a convenient place to go."

Suddenly, Jacob pulled her body even closer to him, holding onto her a bit tighter. His face moved in front of her, his lips almost brushing against hers. "Maybe you'll make it a habit of coming here." He whispered.

Nova was surprised when he had pulled her so close. She wasn't expecting him to do that. She stared at him for a moment, hearing his words. "I don't know about that." She whispered. She wasn't sure about hanging out in this part of town. She had heard a lot of bad things about it. He seemed to be very interested in her. Though she was sure that his ideas were different than hers. She bit her bottom lip lightly as she looked into his eyes. She wondered why he spent so much time in this part of town. Maybe he just lived there and it was someplace he could get away from. "This isn't exactly the kind of place I care to spend time at." She said.

"I didn't think that it was, darling." Jacob said after a moment. He was surprised that a girl like her would come to this bar at all. Or, for that matter, even let him talk to her in the first place. While he knew that he could be very charming, this atmosphere was not many that people enjoyed or would be willing to engage with others in it. Though, nonetheless, he had been curious as to if Nova would be willing to get it a shot, or more importantly, to see if she had any interest in him.

Jacob leaned a bit closer for a moment, almost to the point where their lips were touching until he pulled back so their faces were separated at a normal distance. "Though I have a feeling that I will see you around one of the nicer bars someday." He murmured softly.

Nova felt like her breath left her when he leaned in close to her. She wasn't sure exactly what his plan was, but surely he didn't plan on kissing her. Maybe he did though. She ran her fingers through her hair, "Do you normally spend time in better bars?" She asked him. She wondered what places he liked to occupy his time with.

"We could always go to a nicer bar. I know a good place that is near where I live." She suggested. She wasn't sure if he would be into leaving with her, but she was willing to give it a shot.

"I spend some of my time in bars and clubs. Though I like to shift between dumps like these ones and high society...well and anything in between," Jacob gave her a small shrug and a smile. He didn't care where he was as long as it was making him and his gang money. Who cared if it was a trashy bar or a millionaire's gala when he was making a huge profit.

He let out a low hum as Nova suggested heading somewhere else. Jacob looked along her face for a moment before reaching up and running a hand through her hair slowly. It seemed that she did have some interest in him, how lucky was he. "Then let's go there." Jacob purred. He pulled out of the dance but was quick to wrap an arm around her waist and pull Nova into his side, almost protectively. Nova was his girl for the night.

"Okay, we can go there." She said, feeling his arm go around her. She looked at him, smiling a little. "Um...Let me just go tell my friends I am leaving." She said as she walked with him to her friends. She let them know she was leaving, grabbing her jacket. She pulled it on and walked with him to the door. Nova could still feel his arm around her as they headed to the club. "So, do you have a favorite place that you like to go?" She asked, glancing up at him. She didn't know why, but she felt like even though he appeared to have a hard exterior there was more to him.

Once they got to the bar near her apartment. She opened the door, stepping inside with him. It was a lot nicer than where they just were. Once they got to the bar, she ordered herself a martini. She looked at him, "What do you want to drink?" She asked him as she sat on the barstool that was near her. She let her fingers move through her hair as she looked at him.

Jacob headed over to the door and leaned against it as he waited for Nova to go talk to her friends. He watched her for a moment before letting his eyes shift around the bar, wanting to take it in before they left. Eventually, his eyes dropped on one of his dealers, seeing that he was already selling some of the supply. Good.

The moment nova was back with him, Jacob's attention moved back to her. He held onto her protectively as they started to make their way to the other bar. Though, he knew that anyone who knew him would know better than to fuck with them. After all, Jacob was packing heat and he wasn't afraid to use it. The man glanced down at Nova as she asked him a question. "A favorite place? Like a bar?" Jacob was quiet for a moment, giving her a small shrug. "The blue fox is a good place." It was more of an upscale bar. Not exactly his speed party-wise, but damn did that place bring in the cash. Bunch of rich snobby adults wanting to get high. "Ivy's is also good." Now that place Jacob liked to party. It was good for drinking, picking up chicks and watching some kinky stuff to go down.

Once they were at the bar, Jacob glanced over to the waiter. "I'll take a whiskey sour,"

Nova watched as her drink was set in front of her, then turned her attention back to him. She held her drink in her hand, taking a sip of it. There was something about Jacob that she couldn't put her finger on. Though she was intrigued by him. Plus, he was cute. He was probably one of the best looking guys she had met in the city so far.

"Do you spend a lot of times in bars?" She asked then took a sip of her drink.

Her eyes moved to his as she listened to him speak. She felt like there was someone staring at them as they stood there. Nova glanced over, seeing a guy eyeing Jacob.

"Friend of yours?" She asked, looking at him.

Jacob gave Nova a small shrug as she asked if he spent a lot of time at bars. He didn't want to say yes or no either way. One was an unnecessary lie and the other would probably bring too many questions his way. And like Hell was he going to tell her the truth about why he was in bars so often. "I go when the mood strikes me."

As the woman mentioned a man staring at them, Jacob's head slowly turned. He looked to the man and a bit of a frown came over his lips. Of course, he knew who it was, a client. Though Jacob didn't have anything else on him at the moment nor did he want him to come ruin his chances with Nova. Jacob tried his best to secretly motion to the man that he was empty before turning back to Nova.

"I've never seen him before in my life." He told her swiftly.

Nova nodded when he said he goes whenever the mood struck him. She understood that. Sometimes she liked going out to get a drink sometimes when she got bored. Usually she only had one though because she didn't like to get too crazy when she was alone.

She watched as he looked at the man, then smiled as he looked back at her. "Maybe you are just popular. Apparently a lot of people want your attention." She told him. She didn't blame them though. He seemed to be a good person. He was being very nice to her. He wasn't hitting on her like a lot of the guys she had met before. Those guys had been freaks.
