"I think the doctor will determine what you need." Chance said in response. "In some situations, going to sleep will ensure that you fall into a coma." He shot a look at her, trying to ensure that Brook knew he meant for her to stay awake until the doctor was there. "It would really suck if I put in all that effort to save your life and then you go into a coma and die because you can't stay awake for thirty minutes."

Right after he said that, Chance turned his attention back to the phone call that he was on. He told the physician what was going on and request that he come to the house as fast as he could to give Brook a check up. The physician agreed and soon Chance was off of the phone call. He didn't even had to give the man a full address. Just had to say the watkins' residence.

With that done, Chance glanced around the room before making his way towards the couch and sitting down on it. He leaned back, resting his head as he looked up at the ceiling. Chance wasn't really sure what to do now but he knew better than to leave Brook to herself. Who knew if she would even be able to manage to stay awake by herself. Besides, it was best that he find out the outcome of the check up, otherwise who else would know outside of Brook. He doubted that she could take care of herself but no one else would it seemed. So Chance was accepting that he needed to step up.

"Your welcome," Chance said gently in response. "But you do realize that you owe me a life debt, right?" He teased gently before shifting his head to look over at the woman. At this moment, she seemed so small and frail. Chance let out a small hum before continuing on, "You should talk to keep yourself from falling asleep... why don't you tell me about yourself?"

A small annoying sigh escaped from Brook as she rolled onto her back. Her hands moving to rest on her stomach as she looked up at the ceiling. Taking in the white wall as she tried to imagine someone painting something pretty on the smooth surface. Ah, she missed painting. All of her stuff was in storage and had yet to be brought to the house. The movers had to put her things separate from her mother so that they knew what was to be sold and she just hadn't gotten the chance to get her easel or paints.

"I vow to give my life to you," Brook mumbled sarcastically. "Shall I get off this bed and bow down to you like a knight pledging their allegiance to you?" Brook turned her head to look towards the taller boy. Arching an eyebrow as she took in how relaxed he was seeing on the chair. Then, when he looked her way, Brook quickly went back to looking up towards the cieling. The last thing she wanted was to have Chance teasing her for staring at him.

A small giggle escaped from Brooklyn at Chance's suggestion. Her head shaking slightly at the amusing question. "I hate being told to talk about myself," Brook mumbled, raising a hand to rub her tired eyes. "I love the color blue, and hate the color yellow, it's too bright of a color. I could eat pizza every day if I didn't gain weight so easily. Um," Brook paused as she wondered what else to say. "I have a half brother who hates me, a dad who wants nothing to do with me, a woman who's my half brother's mom who pretends I don't exist. What else would you like to know about me?"

turning her head towards Chance once more, she wondered if he thought she was instance yet. "Oh, I also prefer reading over talking to people and going to parties where I could potentially drown and then owe my life to someone." Brook offered an innocent smile and then blinked her eyes rapidly to seem innocent as well.

"Not right now. What good would you do me if you hurt yourself trying to bow?" Chance asked with a chuckle. A large smirk was over her face. "No, I think that you must get better first and then you can properly pledge yourself to me. I think that is much more suitable. Then we can move forward with your new duties as my personal servant." He let out a small hum before continuing. "Remember, your debt to me is either paid when you save my life or when you die. Whatever comes first."

Chance properly lifted his head up when Brook started to speak about herself. Even after everything, he was still interested in the poor girl's life. It was just that side of the world was so foreign to him. While he had no interest in being poor himself, Chance wanted to know what it was like. He wanted to know how they were so different from each other outside of money. But it seemed like there were a lot of differences between them because of that one thing. He didn't think he would do much about it once he knew the truth though. It was just knowing that would satisfy him.

A frown came over his face as Brook started to speak about her life. It came out innocently enough as first but when she talked about her family it was sad. He already knew that her mother had died. That was just something he learned from her brother. Although her brother was harsh on her...very harsh on her, Chance figured that she had a family member who cared. Chance figured that her father at least cared. It seemed that wasn't the case. "Family sucks," Chances mumbled softly to her. "But I am sure you have someone. Like one of your friends...."

He glanced towards the window, clearing his throat before continuing on. Though a smile came over his face as she mentioned potentially drowning. "Parties aren't your issue, it's pools. Next time, you'll just have to go to a party without a pool." Chance said with a chuckle. "Or just stay away from it next time. Did you even consider that you didn't have to be literally right next to a body of water that can kill you? What happened anyway? Did your head hit the side?"

A genuine laugh escaped from Brooklyn's lips as she rolled her eyes. "How could I possibly hurt myself bowing?" Brook asked as she glanced towards the popular boy. Sticking her tongue out at him as she felt herself relaxing a little bit. "I'll happily cut my arm for you, your majesty!" Brook raised her hand and gave Chance a small salute from her spot on the bed and then rested her hands back on her stomach. She felt too tired and weak to keep her arm up in a salute for too long.

A small sigh escaped from Brook as she looked back to the cieling. "Chance." Brook started then paused as she wondered how to phrase her next words without sounding like a total bitch. "My friends are all a couple of hundreds of miles away from where it's common for cell service to go out randomly." There wasn't easy to say that. "I haven't been here long enough to really meet anyone at school, plus do you know how hard it is to make friends with people when all they want to talk about is how hot your brother is and being asked if I saw him yet?" Brook sighed and threw an arm over her eyes. "I just want to go home. I miss being able to walk to the fields and watch the wildlife. It was peaceful, here it's a totally different thing."

Removing her arm from her eyes, Brook looked towards Chance once more as she listened to him. A small snort escaping her as she fought the smile. "Your so smart Chance, I didn't think about not going near a pool" Brook rolled her eyes, but her smile was still on her lips. "No, I had a panic attack and just blacked out. It wasn't my first time falling into a body of water."

A knock sounded on the door then, it was the doctor announcing his presence and asking to come in. It took Brook a moment, but she was able to move into a sitting position. Her gaze looking towards the door as a kind-looking old man came in. Offering her a kind smile. Which in turn, causes Brook to want to run and hide. She hated doctors.

A deep frown came over Chance's face as he listened to Brook talk about how she didn't have any friends here. About how she wished that she could just go home to where she used to live. He glanced off to the side, not knowing what to say about any of that. He knew people with plenty of issues, and yes some of them had horrid relationships with their families. But at least they all had someone. Chance had never run into someone who felt like they were completely alone. Well, not just felt it but really was completely alone. He already knew how her family was after being friends with her brother for so long...

As he rattled his brain for something to say, there was a knock on the door and Chance was thankful for the interruption. He felt foolish for not finding the right words to say but it really was lost on him. So, he stood up and opened the door for the physician to walk in. There was a warm smile that came over Chance's face when he saw him. "Thank you for coming Dr. Kopin." Chance said as he stepped back so he could come in and evaluate Brook.

There was a moment where Chance considered leaving the room to give Brook some privacy but he was worried about her. He was worried that she wouldn't be completely honest or that her brain was too shot to tell the truth. Plus, he thought someone outside of the young woman should hear what the doctor told her to do. For some reason, Chance did not trust her enough to follow the man's orders. Though, he stayed by the door and kept his eyes off of the two but continued to keep his ears open.

Dr. Kopin headed over to Brook and set his medical bag on the side of the bed. "Please tell me what has happened, Miss. I understand that you almost drowned?" He said before taking out a little light to check Brook's eyes. "Tell me more. Where you unconscious? How did you get into the water?"

A small smile slowly appeared on Brook's lips as the doctor came into the room. Her eyes glancing towards Chance. Silently begging for him to not leave her alone with the old man. It wasn't that she didn't trust the old man, it's just. She didn't like doctors. Needs mostly, but still. Being alone with a guy who could possibly stab her with a needle made her nervous.

"Um, yes," Brook mumbled quietly as she glanced towards Chance once more before looking up towards the doctor. "I tripped and fell in. I-I don't really know if I hit my head, but I think I was having a panic attack as well." She mumbled quietly, her eyes blinking a little as the light shined in her eyes, causing them to water.

When the light was finally clicked off, Brook raised her hands and started to rub her eyes. Her eyes were watering so much it felt like she was crying. That was the last thing she needed Chance to see from her. "This isn't my first time drowning, so I don't think anything's really wrong." She told the doctor, which in turn got a curious look from the doctor. "I fell in once when I was a little kid." She explained.

The doctor hummed quietly as he pulled out his stethoscope. "Take a deep breath for me." He told Brook, and she did. "Now exhale." This repeated a couple of times as the doctor listened to Brook's lungs. Trying to hear her heart and her breathing. "I'm a little worried that you have some fluid in your lungs. So I'm going to prescribe you something to get you coughing." The doctor told Brook as he then took her blood pressure by pressing his fingers to her wrist. "Your blood pressure seems a little low." The doctor murmured quietly. "So, I recommend drinking more water. Not breathing it in." He tried to joke, which got a small laugh from Brook but otherwise not really much else.

"It didn't look like she hit her heard from where I was standing," Chance informed the doctor. He couldn't say for sure if she had hit her head under the surface of the water but at least she did not do so on her way down into the water. Otherwise she probably would have cracked her head open on the side of the pool. Now Chance didn't know first aide for serious wounds like that so it seemed Brook was lucky with only almost drowning.

When Brook mentioned that this was not her first time drowning, Chance could feel himself wanting to ask how often this occurred to her. Surely at some point, one would just learn how to swim? At least, that was what Chance assumed had happened. If she didn't hit her head, then it must have been Brook's inability to swim that ended up getting her stuck at the bottom of that pool. Though theses were questions to ask when the physician had left.

The moment the doctor made his decision on what Brook should do to get better, Chance turned around, assuming that the check up was over. "So cough medicine and drinking more water. Is there anything else? Can she sleep normally?" The physician looked back at Chance before nodding. "Yes, that is all. If she wants to rest, she can. The couch medicine should get rid of any of the fluid in her lungs. Though if she starts to grow ill over the next few days, then call me back. We don't want her to get ill."

With that, the doctor started to put his items away but pulled out a prescription pad and wrote a cough medication down onto it before handing it to Brook. "You should start taking this tonight."

Wrinkling her nose, Brook reached out and took the prescription. She hated taking medicine. It often fucked with her stomach, leaving her practically starving herself while she was taking the stuff. "Yes, sir." She mumbled quietly. Looking over what the doctor told her that he wanted her to take. She'll have to call this in right away, she couldn't afford to get sick so early in the school year.

"Thank you for coming on such short notice," Brook said as she watched the doctor turning to leave. He offered Brook a small smile over his shoulder. "It was no problem at all, Miss Watkins." The doctor said and then turned to Chance. Brook didn't pay attention to the doctor once he said his goodbye to her. Instead, she moved to lay back down on the bed. Her eyes feeling heavier by the second. Her head throbbed and her chest was a little sore from not getting oxygen for so long, but, the doctor said she was fine. So, resting is that she was allowed to do.

Listening to the opening and then closing as the doctor left, Brook stayed laying on the bed for a couple more seconds. She was tired, but it just felt weird staying in another strange bedroom. "Hey, Chance," Brook said quietly, she moved a little bit so that she was being held up on her right arm. "Can you help me get to my room?" She asked quietly, her left hand rising to rub tiredly at her eyes.

"Yes, of course," Chance told her as he headed back to Brook's side. He saw that she just wanted him to help to lean on but Chance didn't even bother with that. Immediately, his arms moved under her body and he lifted her up bridal style again. Any fuss that she made was immediately ignored. She wasn't ready to really be walking around and Chance felt sure about that. So he headed out of the room and started to move through the hallways, asking Brook where he should be going as he did so.

"I will have someone pick up your prescription so you can take it tonight like the doctor said," As he headed through the hallways, Chance was thinking about what he should do now. The doctor had come and decided that Brook was okay for the most part and just needed to take some medication. So it was not like she needed to be watched and Chance felt rather sure that she would just be falling asleep soon. He didn't feel the need to watch over a sleeping woman but it did feel weird leaving her alone after what had occurred.

Once they were at her room, Chance carried her inside and laid Brook down on the bed. He hesitated for a moment before taking a step back and clearing his throat a bit. "Well I will get our of your hair now but make sure to take your medicine when it is brought by." Chance said before he made his way towards the door. There were still some questions roaming in his head but Chance didn't want to keep her awake after what had occurred because he was feeling nosy. "Goodnight, Brook."

Saturday had come and past, and so did the pool party. Last night, as soon as Brook's head hit her pillow, she was out like a light. She had no idea if Chance had wandered around her room and looked in her underwear drawer, or not. Because sleep had dragged her under almost as fast as the water had last night when she was pulled under.

Sunday morning, Brook felt like shit. Her heat still hurt and she was exhausted. She was woken by a maid who told her that her medicine had arrived. The kind old woman gave her the pill and a glass of water. Which in turn, caused Brook to wake up every half hour with a coughing fit. It helped clear her lungs, but it did nothing for Brook's sleep schedule. Which was why she was awake at eight in the morning. Showered and dressed for the day. Heading out of her room at a slow pace and heading towards the kitchen.

It was still a little early for the kitchen staff to arrive. They usually weren't in till eight-thirty, and breakfast wasn't ready till almost nine-thirty per her father's request. He didn't want to wake up extremely early for breakfast every day of the week. So, when Brook got to the kitchen, she didn't bother making anything to eat. Instead, she just grabbed a quart of Ben and Jerry's ice cream that was in the freezer and got herself a spoon from the drawer. This was California, no way either of the adults would eat ice cream.

Once the spoon was in her hand, she made her way towards the main living room on the first floor of the estate. She settled into the little nook on the L shaped wrap around couch. The pillows pressing comfortably into her back as she leaned back. Pressing a few buttons on the remote, Brook put on an episode of Supernatural, on Netflix. Then, started to eat her favorite Sunday breakfast, a quart of Ben and Jerry's Americone Dream ice cream.

When Chance did end up leaving Brook's room, he made his way back down to the party. But he found himself not being able to relax as much as he wanted to, consistently looking up at the window of Brook's room. He was worried about her and was hoping that the young woman was doing okay by herself. As for the party, it lasted until 1am. People slowly drifted out, making their way home and by that time, Chance made it up to the guest room that was basically his.

Due to his hangover, Chance wasn't able to sleep in as much as he wanted to. Though that was typical for him. When he did drink hard, it was difficult to sleep as he didn't feel very well. Knowing that he wouldn't be able to get more shut-eye, Chance stood up , rubbing his face as he did so. When he went into the bathroom, Chance noticed that Brook's clothes were still there. So after washing his face and such, he quietly made his way up to her room.

The man cracked the door open a little, planning on just throwing her clothes in there without disrupting her. But when he looked to the bed, he noticed that she wasn't asleep. Chance opened it a bit more and poked his head in the room. It seemed like she wasn't in her room at all. Weird, she should be sleeping. Trying not to think about Brook too much, Chance closed the door and made his way downstairs. He knew his friend well and that man wouldn't be up for a couple more hours after a party like that. Though, Chance was hungry.

Though as he made his way down to the kitchen, he heard the TV on. Chance hesitated for a moment before heading into the living room. He stopped in his tracks when his eyes landed on Brook who was awake, watching TV and eating ice cream for breakfast. "Do you really think ice cream is a good idea for breakfast and to avoid getting sick?"

Pausing her motions with the spoon of ice cream in her mouth, Brook looked up. Her bright green eyes blinked a couple of times as she registered what Chance had just asked her. Then, she slowly pulled the spoon out of her mouth and chewed the waffle cone pieces that were in the ice cream. "There's milk in ice cream, and chocolate's supposed to be good at preventing heart disease, or something," Brook said as she looked down and scooped another spoonful and shoved it into her mouth. "Don't you read Wikipedia?" She asked, sounding like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Wikipedia doesn't lie Chance. Ice cream is one of the healthiest foods around." A roll of her eyes and a smile followed her words, showing that she was just joking with him.

Turning her gaze away from the still looking half asleep boy, Brook crossed her legs pretzel style and watched as Sam and Dean ran through a fun house and tried to get out. "Cooking's a pain in the butt and Brad ate the last of the cereal," Brook mumbled casually, having that be the last thing she said to Chance. She didn't owe the man really any excuse. She was almost eighteen, she could eat ice cream if she wanted to.

"Why are you awake anyways?" Brook asked after a while, feeling rude if she didn't talk to the guy. "An the couch is open, you know. To sit." She offered, pointing towards the end of the couch, farthest from her. She really didn't want to remember what it was like to be held in Chance's arms as he carried her and helped her chance. How amazing he had smelled. This morning, when she was able to think clearer, Brook realized that she was in Chance's room last night. It smelled just like him. It was safe to say that she adored the smell, but she was sure to never tell Chance that. That secret was going to be taken to the grave with her.

Blinking away those thoughts, Brook took another spoonful of her favorite ice cream and focused on the TV show with two of the cutest guys in her opinion. They were both ridiculously funny in their bloopers, and when they were in interviews together. They were two of her favorite actors, and she loved the show. Not minding watching reruns of it in the least bit. Plus, she needed something to distract her from the boy who just woke up and was trying to talk her out of eating ice cream for breakfast.

(Can totally see Chance stealing the ice cream and eating it. XD Haha.)

"I don't know anyone who doesn't read Wikipedia." Chance told her with a small shrug. As much as he thought her eating ice cream for breakfast was a bad idea, he wasn't going to stop it... It was her choice. He wasn't her mother! He dropped his head into his hand and rubbed his face. God, he felt exhausted suddenly. And her excuse for her breakfast was sad. "I feel like toast and peanut butter would have been a better option and easy to cook." Chance retorted as he leaned against the doorway of the room.

His eyes shifted to the TV, somewhat paying attention to the show that was on TV. "Too hungover to sleep." Chance told her honestly. There seemed no point in lying about it. Besides, he was sure that he looked like shit. When Brook offered for him to come sit in the room with her, he made his way in, passing her chair as he did so. Though as he did so, he was quick to grab the ice cream and spoon out of her hand before falling back onto the couch.

Ignoring any of her cries, Chance started to eat the ice cream, letting out a small hum as he did so. Maybe ice cream for breakfast wasn't such a bad idea... He continued to eat as his eyes stayed on the TV in front of him. But he made sure to keep some of his attention of Brook, ready to lightly fight over the ice cream. Now that he was eating it, he didn't really want to let it go.

Without turning towards Chance, Brook made a small hum as she listened to him. "Never tried that, and I can't relate." Brook mumbled, not really sure what else to say to him about any of that. She was being honest. She had never tried peanut butter on toast before and she's never been drunk either. Sure, her mom was a bartender, but she was quite adamant about never having any in the house. Even when her mom wanted to drink, she went to a friend's house or she drank at the bar and ubered home. She really wanted Brook to stay straight, and have a good future ahead of herself, she would say.

Blinking in surprise when Chance walked past her and stole her ice cream, it took Brook a moment to realize what had happaned. "Hey!" She said and pouted as she looked towards the side of the couch where the boy had gone. "Thief!" Brook said and then pouted as she watched him take a couple of bites of her ice cream. Then, she crossed her arms over her chest as she glared daggers at the blue-eyed boys.

"Give it back," Brook said once she had watched him take a couple of bites of her ice cream. A without better judgment, Brook crawled towards him on the couch and reached out towards the ice cream. "Gimmy." She mumbled quietly as she reached out to try and take the spoon and ice cream back from Chance. "I spit in it. I claimed it." Brook lied, hoping that it'd get Chance to give her the ice cream back without having to fight too much over the ice cream. Without realizing it, as Brook tried to reach for the frozen treat, she somehow ended up almost in Chance's lap.

"I am a thief, what are you going to do about it?" Chance asked her with a large smirk on his face. His head turned from the show and onto the girl that was now pouting over her lost ice cream. Though now that he was eating it, Chance understood why this would be considered a great loss to her. Even with that in mind, he took another large bite of it. It wasn't like she would be able to easily get more. This house was always filled with food.

Though when Brook started to crawl over to him, Chance interest peeked more so. He did not expect her to really make her way over to him. It seemed a lot more likely that she would just give up or something to that extend. Though when she claimed that she spit in it, Chance laughed. "I am using your spoon and eating your ice cream. You think that I am concerned about your spit?" Chance asked before taking another bite before beginning to tease her. "Ewww girl germs."

Before Chance even realized what she was doing, Brook was basically in his lap and his arm was out above her head where Brook could not reach it. He was quick to grab her waist and spin her so Brook was now full-on laying in his lap on her back. And before she would let out another word of complaint, Chance took a spoon full of ice cream and put it in her mouth. "There, are you happy now?" He asked her before setting the pint down on her chest for Brook to grab.

"But you still should not be eating ice cream for breakfast with your wet, fucked up lungs." Chance said, raising his eyebrow at her as he did so. "I can make us some peanut butter and toast. It will be better for you."

A huff escaped from Brook as she was spun around to lay on her back. Her bright green eyes narrowed at Chance as he shoved a spoonful into her mouth. "Jerk." She mumbled around a mouth full of chocolate waffle cone pieces. Her hands moved to grab her container of ice cream and then she moved quickly off of the rich boy's lap.

"Since you're so adamant about me eating an actual breakfast, then sure." Brook murmured quietly as she slipped off of the couch with her ice cream. She faced him as she scraped the last of the cold goodness from the bottom of the container. Making sure to get every little string of caramel that was offered and ate in front of Chance. "I've never had toast and peanut butter before," Brook confessed as she set the empty ice cream container with the spoon in it on the coffee table.

Moving back towards her spot, Brook brought her knees up to her chest as she relaxed back against the couch. Her eyes moving towards the TV. Watching it for a couple of moments before a question popped through her mind. "Wait, do you even know how to make toast yourself? Or have you always had someone do it for you?" Confusion laced Brook's gaze as she focused on Chance. Surely, he always had domestic workers around to do things for him as well. Brad did, and the guy oftentimes seemed like he'd be lost if asked to tie his own shoes. Not that Brook would say that to him out loud.

Chance shook his head as Brook scraped from the bottom of the ice cream container and made faces at him. "You are a child." He told her before he stood up from the couch. The man proceeded to stretch his body out a bit, still trying his best to get over the hangover that was still glooming over him. Though taking to Brook seemed to at least make it easier to ignore.

A scoff left Chance as Brook asked if he knew how to make toast. "Of course I know how to make toast. Just because I have someone to make food for me doesn't mean I have been completely ignorant on how food is made. Plus, toast is easy. You should know how to make toast." Chance dropped his outstretched arms and made his way out of the room. "Wait here, I will be back in a couple of minutes with peanut butter and toast.

With that, Chance headed out of the room and into the kitchen. He grabbed four pieces of bread from the cupboard and threw them into the toaster, ensuring to set it to the correct time before he pushed the lever down. With that done, Chance then spent his time cutting up a banana. He was sure that this was really going to blow Brook's mind. When the toast was done, he covered the pieces of with peanut butter. He then took the cut up bananas and put them on top of his own pieces of toast.

When a few minutes had passed, Chance came back into the room. He handed her a plate of two pieces of toast before taking his plate and sitting down on the couch. "bon appetit" Chance said before taking a bite out of his toast with peanut butter and banana on top.

When Chance had stretched, Brook would be a liar if she said that she didn't look. He was quite fit, which would explain why he was Co-captain of the football team and so popular. Plus, against her better judgment, he was seeming like a good guy. Even if he's got a bit of an ego on him as well. Drawing her eyes away from him as he relaxed, Brook mumbled under her breath. "I do, but it's misogynistic to think all woman should know."

To be honest, Brook hadn't thought that Chance would make them food. She thought he was all talk and no bite. That, or that he was going to burn everything horrible. She could picture him coming through the doorway with pieces of toast that were so black, it'd look like the night sky. Covered in peanut butter so that you didn't notice the burnt bits of toast. So, when Chance did bring something that looked edible in, it completely threw her off guard.

"Woah, it looks edible," Brook said as she glanced towards Chance with surprise and then at the toast that she was given. She cast her bright green eyes towards the teen boy for a moment, watching him eat before looking down at her food. She delicately grabbed a piece of toast and took a bite. It was warm and yummy. Even earning a surprised hum from her. "Mm, it's good. I'm surprised." Brook murmured after swallowing her bite. She used her thumb to wipe her mouth from extra peanut butter. Then sucked it off of her thumb as she watched TV.

"I thought the peanut butter would taste oily because it's warmed, but it doesn't. It's good." Brook added to what she meant when commercials came on. Taking a couple more small bites of the toast.

Chance let out a scoff. "It has nothing to do with you being a woman. It has everything to do with the fact that literally everyone should know how to make toast. Literal children know how to make toast, Brook." Chance shook his head at her. "And it's rude to assume that someone is being misogynistic because you lack basic life skills." With that, Chance disappeared into the kitchen.

When Chance came back and Brook seemed impressed with what he had made, a grin moved over his face. Though while he knew that Brook really shouldn't be all that impressed with what he had done, it still inflated his ego. After all, he was just throwing bread into a toaster but having someone be impressed with you was always a good feeling...One that Chance was very familiar with. "Yes, I happen to be the best cook out of all of my friends so you are really getting a treat today."

With that said, Chance took another bite of his own food before re-focusing on the TV in front of him. He wasn't sure that he cared for the show that Brook had picked but it was good enough to watch while relaxing. Besides, Chance wasn't sure how much time he would have to spend down in the living room with Brook. It wouldn't be a good thing if he got caught hanging out with her. And, at some point, her brother was going to wake up.

He glanced down at the time for a moment. Though he could always just go home and sleep at his house. That would be an easy way to avoid all of the drama that was sure to ensue after Brook caused a scene at the party last night...Even if the scene was her almost dying. Chance knew that Brad had been concerned for his sister in law but it seemed unlikely that he would let her know that.

Not even a half-hour after Chance had made them both breakfast, Brad had come downstairs. One look from her half brother was all Brook needed to see before she dismissed herself and left the living room to the boys. It was early, and she certainly didn't want to hear anything from the king of jerks himself. So, Brook went to her room and she stayed there pretty much for the rest of the weekend. Only leaving to make herself something to eat.

By the time school started back up on Monday, Brook was feeling better. Her chest wasn't feeling as tight and her small cough had gone away. Sadly though, the memories of the night she fell in and was saved by a dashing Prince were far from being wiped from anyone's memories. People stared at Brook as she walked down the hall. Some glares, mad that Chance had laid his lips on hers. Others, looked on in wonder, confusion. The questions on everyone's mind, was it if it was intentional or if this new girl was just lucky? Chance freaking Cunningham had kissed the new girl, gave her CPR. One of the stars of the football team had cared enough to save a nobody. Who was this Brooklyn girl? And why was she worthy enough of his time and lips? Idiots.

It was hard dealing with all of the looks and whispers that were coming her way, but Brook was managing. She was keeping her head down, doing her best to not bump into people in the halls. In the halls, if someone tried to talk to her, she'd just politely say that she was sorry and that she needed to leave. Sitting in class before it started, she'd have earbuds in, doing her best to try and pretend she couldn't hear their questions.

Finally, it was the last class of the day. Art class with Mrs.Philips. An adorable old older woman who used to be an artist in her younger years. She pushed everyone to do their best and be as creative as they wanted to be. It was extremely hard to fail her class, as most of her projects were for the students to express themselves. They could turn in a blank paper with their name on it and she'd give them a passing grade, saying that it's okay to not know who you are at all times. All in all, Mrs.Philips was a great woman, most of the time. The only downside to her classes was that she liked to have people do group projects.

"Alright now class, we are going to be doing a project for the next two weeks. You will be split up into groups of two, and tasked with thinking up an idea that summarizes the school. It's history, it's culture. Whatever you think makes up the school." Mrs.Philips went on to explain, allowing for the groups to decide if they wanted to paint, make sculptures, or anything else that was art-related for the project. Then, the top three in the class would be entered into the city's art fair for a potential prize of some sort.

Sitting up a little bit in her chair, Brook tapped her finger on the desk quietly. Her bright green eyes focused down on the light wood as her mind wondered. She was planning to do this project alone. Art was her favorite subject and she wasn't planning on having to be the one that helps others pass an easy class.
