Someone You Loved

Dear Steve,

I don’t even know how I’m doing this right now. I just needed to clear my mind, i mean I obviously want to write to you. I’ve always wanted to do a pen pal thing. I hope you’re doing well, I guess this is the part where we do introductions. Ha. Well, my name is Annie and I’m twenty nine almost thirty which makes me feel old. But I’ve been told I look okay. Enough about me. I’m sorry I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging or anything because I’m not I’m just awkward. Oof. Most people would find actually writing letters old fashioned but I’m excited about it. I’m not sure what else to write so I hope you can get past my short attention span. Ha. Have a great day!

Annie mailed the letter feeling stupid because of the nonsense she just sent but she wasn’t aware who she was writing.

When Steve got a letter in the mail, He opened the letter and started to read, loving the way she wrote and especially the it might be a little old fashioned to write. She has no idea. He got out a piece of paper and sat down to begin writing.

Dear Annie,

It’s nice that you chose me to do a pen pal thing with, although I had to have someone explain to me what a pen pal was. I’m still stuck in the 1940s time era. I’m doing well. Thankyou for asking. I hope you are doing well too. My name is Steve. I am a bit older than I look and very old fashioned myself so I love the fact that you are writing me and not emailing me, which I don’t own a computer. I’m glad my friends got me to do this.

He mailed the letter to Annie before going to work out in the gym inside of Starks new avengers building.

Annie walked to her mailbox a couple days later and smiled finding a letter and bills in her mailbox. She grabbed everything and headed back into her building where she sat on her sofa. Gently opening the letter and reading it, so she was writing an old man. That was cool, old people were the best.

dear Steve,

Letter writing died a long time ago and I’m glad people are bringing it back, I can only imagine how difficult this era must be for you. Technology has advanced quite a bit and while I enjoy it I miss simple things like this. Waiting for a letter in the mail instead of instantly receiving a message. I just picked out a name out of a hat, and so here we are. I don’t have anything too exciting going on, just work. How about you? Do you work or are you retired? I mean either way it’s good. I’m glad I could being some sense of normalcy to your daily routine.

Annie finished the letter before taking it to the mail box, she hummed softly biting her lip. Maybe she’d be this old man and buy him a pastry or something.

Steve got the letter a few days later. He took it inside to his room before he pulled it out then started to read it. He smiled and laughed a bit. She thought he was an old man which he kind of was but he didn’t look like it. He got a paper and a pen before he started to write back.

Dear Annie,

Work but not to hard. Enjoy yourself too. No I am not retired. I still work. I don’t think I’m ever going to retire from work. You definitely do bring some normalcy to my life. It’s nice coming to my room and being able to write a letter to somebody nice. Maybe we can get to know each other a little better. Like what do you do for work? What’s your favorite color? Favorite food? Well it was nice receiving and reading your letter. It was the highlight of my week.

He put the letter in an envelope before he took it down to the post office and mailed it to her.

Annie has just gotten back from the bakery when she checked her mail it has been a couple days. She smiled and went back to her desk reading it and smiling wide. After a shower and a meal Annie wrote Steve back.

Dear Steve,

I do believe me. You work so much huh? Do you know what a break is? I’m teasing! Well thanks, I’m glad you think I’m special or something. Well let me see I own a bakery so I do a lot of baking, shockingly enough I’m not fat. My favorite color is purple and I like Italian. What about you? Really? That’s so sweet! I’ll have to send you some cupcakes or something.. unless you can’t eat them? Anyway, I’m about to get some rest have a great week.

When Steve got the letter, he had just gotten back from a mission. He took the mail and went upstairs to his room to read it. He smiled as he read the words before getting out a piece of paper and a pen.

Dear Annie,

I work a lot yes. I do know what a break is and I make sure to take them whenever I can. I do think you’re special. As for the bakery, I love sweets. I always have. That’s amazing that you own your own business. I’m glad for you. I work for the avengers. And I would love for you to send me some cupcakes. I’m sure they will be amazing. I love cupcakes. They are my favorites. Have a great week yourself.

He put the letter in an envelope before taking it to the post office and mailing it to her.

Annie’s eyes widen as she was reading the letter he worked for the Avengers? That was cool.

Dear Steve,

That’s so cool! What’s captain Rogers like? Is he as polite as everyone says? I don’t mean to gush but I’ve always been a huge Captain America fan. I’ll have to come visit sometime then.. I mean I won’t because that’s weird but I’ll ship out some cupcakes..

When he got her letter in the mail days later and opened it, he chuckled. He grabbed a piece of paper and a pen before writing back to her.

Dear Annie,

Captain Rodgers is very nice and yes you may come any time you like. I can clear it with the others. I’m sure they would love to meet you and try those cupcakes I haven’t been able to stop thinking about for days now. I’m sure they are very delicious. I hope you are well. Have a great day and great rest of your week.

He took the letter down to the post office before mailing it and going back to his home.

Annie bit her lip as she came home from the bakery and gathered her mail and bills smiling when she noticed Steve’s letter.

Dear Steve,

Is he? That’s great because he’s pretty handsome too. Don’t tell him I said that he might find that weird from someone he’s never even met. Just tell me when and I’ll delivery some cupcakes myself. I don’t usually because I have my delivery crew but you’re special.. so. I am having a good week I hope you are too.

Steve picked up her letter a month later because of a mission but when he got it, he took it to his room and smiled when he read it. He got a piece of paper and a pen and started to write back.

Dear Annie,

You can actually come now if you’d like. The whole team, including myself will be here until the next mission. I’m sure he wouldn’t find you weird for saying that. He’d actually find it a nice compliment. So don’t worry about that. I would love to meet the lovely girl I’ve been writing to all this time. I am having a very good week. I’ll see you soon.

He smiled as he took the letter down to the post office and mailed it.

Annie was so nervous about this, she didn’t even know the man who she was writing but figured I’d he worked for the Avengers he couldn’t be that bad? Annie hurried and grabbed the cupcakes before heading out.

Biting her lip she looked up at the building before entering “who are you here to see?” The guard looked at her then the box of cupcakes, “Steve?” It came out as a question.

“More specific miss, we work with so many Steve’s and that includes Captain Rogers himself.” She bit her lip before taking out a letter “I’m not sure I never met the man but he says he works for the Avengers .” She showed the guard the letter. He looked it over and chuckled, “miss, you don’t recognize that signature?” She tilted her head “no?”

“I’ll bring you to Captain Rogers, myself” Annie’s eyes went wide and her face went red. you gotta be shitting me. I’ve been writing Captain America this whole time?

Steve was in the gym working out, punching the bag in front of him when a guard opened the door and brought Annie into the room, along with her cupcakes. He punched the bag so hard, it got off the hook and flew a bit before hitting the ground. Some of the inside sand part, spilled out of a crack. He looked up when the guard called his name. He saw the woman with a box in her hands, standing next to Frank.

He walked over and smiled at them, ‘hey frank. Hello miss...’ he trailed off, not knowing her name but then he saw Annie’s bakery written on the top of the box and his smile widened, ‘hello Annie. I’m Steve Rodgers. I’ve been looking forward to meeting you and trying those delicious cupcakes since you mentioned them.’

The guard nodded before leaving them alone and Annie but her lip nervously. A blushing mess she was, “you didn’t tell me it was you I was writing now I feel weird about those things I said..” she looked at Steve, god even when he was sweaty he was hot. “Did you need to clean up? I brought an assorted box I wasn’t sure what you liked.”

Annie stood impressed he was so y’all and muscular abs breath takingly handsome. Oof. She was done for.

He smiled, ‘I wanted to be a little mysterious,’ he joked before laughing, ‘I didn’t think you would believe me if I just outright said I was captain America. I didn’t even know if you really believed me when I told you I worked for the avengers. I’m glad you believed that though or you wouldn’t be here.’

After she asked if he wanted to clean up, he nodded, ‘yes let me go shower and put on some fresh clothes. If you want, you can wait here and I’ll come back for you or you can wait out in the lobby for me.’

Annie giggled softly as she nodded “good point, “ she waited for him in the lobby with her cupcakes. Natasha was the first to notice “oh, so you’re Steve’s pen pal , real cute I approve” she smirked. Annie blushed looking up “I’m Annie..” Natasha walked over and shook her hand “Natasha, ooh and you bake, Steve’s gonna love you” she teased.

Annie smiled “you can have one once Steve gets back, if you want, it’s from my bakery so I hope you like them.”

Nastasha smiled, ‘I’d love one. I love cupcakes. Mind if I steal one now, I’m actually going over to Clint’s house to spend some time with him and his family. I promised the kids, I would go.’

Annie smiled and opened the box “sure, go right ahead” as she was taking one Steve has came out. “We were just talking about you.”

Steve blushed a light shade of red, ‘oh really? Good things I hope,’ he smiled as Natasha picked out her cupcake. She picked out the one with a cherry on it before thanking Annie and smirking at Steve before leaving to go to Clint’s house to spend a few days over there.

‘May I?’ He asked her, gesturing to the cupcakes.

Annie smiled “only good things and of course I brought these for you” she monitored him over and he looked at the box. “Chocolate, vanilla bean, banana foster, strawberry cream all kinds..”
