Amelie had been invited to Prince Eric's twentieth birthday, after his father had heard the young omega had reached her sixteenth year. His father had been hoping the young prince might've wanted to court an omega over an alpha, but unfortunately for him, that didn't seem to be the case. The king had for years been trying to bring omegas into their kingdom, even going so far as to marry one himself after his queen had passed. But she was the only omega in their kingdom and she was rarely seen, save for Amelie's visit. And Amelie wouldn't blame the new queen for being fearful of the public, having only been in their kingdom for a few hours and having seen how alphas could act.

The moment the princess had stepped foot in the ball room, several of the alphas inside had all stopped what they had been doing, to turn and inspect the young pup. Her fresh, sweet scent was obvious in the room filled with nothing but harsh and musky odors, all of them completely overwhelming to the omega. She was escorted by a beta, a larger man who made sure to stay near her on the event anything might happen. Amelie was already beginning to curse her mother for forcing her to accept the invitation, hating how she could feel all of their eyes on her as she entered. She was led to the king and the prince, who were both very warm and welcoming. The king took her hand and pressed a firm kiss on it, "I hope your journey wasn't a long one."

"Not too long," Amelie smiled, curtseying to the king. Next to his son, another man stood whom she hadn't been introduced to yet, dressed in a green doublet with the fleece of his silk shirt sticking out of the collar. The second the princess noticed the duke, it seemed his scent was the only one in the room she could place. Swallowing nervously, she quickly turned her gaze back to the king and the prince, whom had began introducing the stranger.

"This is the Charles Brandon, my nearest friend and Duke of Valshire." The prince had already spoken to Charles before the party to ensure that he knew he was to keep the princess distracted so he could sneak off with the alpha he had been courting behind his father's back. The princess would certainly have no qualms, not being to keen on the idea of having an alphas interest in the first place. She curtsied to the prince and the duke, glancing towards her beta out of the corner of her eye. Amelie only knew what her mother had told her about alphas, that they were strong protectors and warriors, but that you should be careful around them.

The king seemed agitated, aware of how his son was trying to push the omega on the duke. "Why don't you two run off and I'll come find you when I finish greeting the rest of my citizens?" The prince lifted his hand to stroke Amelie's face, his thumb brushing over her cheek the only thing he was willing to give himself. The prince hadn't expected the draw of an omega to be so strong, he had never met one before. Without giving anyone much time to answer, the prince shooed them away, wanting the omega far away from him so he wouldn't lose his control.

Stepping off to the side with the duke, Amelie glanced up at him as she nervously picked at the skirt of her dress "So, is it true there are really no omegas here?" She didn't know why it seemed so strange to her, after all, there were no alphas in her kingdom. The princess supposed she was just nervous, being surrounded by what felt like predators.
