Pawn, that's what she was. Nothing good could come from this, all her life preparation was for nothing. And all was throw away due to her father's greed. She used to believe he held the moon. But now nothing but emptiness pulled at her. She knew better than to make a scene or to even dare voice her unhappiness. The men surrounding her were nothing but heartless thugs, they'd never even bat an eyes should she shed tears. It was useless. And it was now her life. The party that was in full swing was awaiting it's guests of honor, herself and now fiance. Though his absents wasn't a surprise, she knew it was just business. And even though it was all a show, it wasn't his style to entertain the old. After all that's what this party was about to show the elders and all that a unity between the two gangs was being made. A soft sigh left her mother's lips as she fiddled with the bottom of her dress. "He should be here now." She muttered to herself, now just toying with the flare. It had taken hours for the preparation for tonight, and it felt like everything was slowly falling apart. Hearing her father's angry voice waft into the room she could only assume he'd been unable to reach the man in question to be her future husband. However the sound of feet on the floor cause her to tense. Before the door open and she was greeted by her father and a young man she'd never seen before. Her surprise was evident on her face, though what caught her by surprise was just how handsome he really was. "Finished?" Her father snapped at the two women as her mother was not fussing with her hair. Placing her hand on her mothers she smiled softly, knowing they both hated this idea. But your in their family you only ever got to marry once. So this was big thing for her mother, she got to go all out and give her daughter the wedding of her dreams. Though her dreams there'd always been a different man in the picture. The smile on her face and the happiness she displayed was all a rues. But she knew her place, and tonight was all just a big show.
Matteo sighed before chugging the champagne in the flute he was given. It having been over an hour of waiting. And time wasn't something he had, not when there was a boss breathing down his neck. He knew it was only due to his daughter's wedding that he was being a dick. But Matteo didn't give a fuck about things like this, he however was just a man with in a pecking order. And the current order was to attend his daughter's engagement party. Kicking back in his chair he let his eyes roam over the party. The whole thing was a joke, but he knew that if his Capo said it was important than it was. After all it wasn't his job to think, it was his job to enforce. And if he wasn't here then how could that happen. Normally he'd have been beside the man ensuring things ran smoothing however this wasn't their show. They were dealing with another outfit and it wasn't the easiest thing for him to do. Get along with others. "Bones." He heard a cheery voice greet him before a smiling man slid into the chair beside him. "See any honeys." The guy jested. Knowing for a fact that he'd already had his eyes on a few. Though he was told to be on his best behavior and not fuck some groupy in the kitchen this time. "All day long." He smirked, knowing the kid beside him wouldn't shut up until he got a reaction. And right now he wish he could be buried in some honey. But he'd mind his ps and qs, until this thing was winding down. Then he'd be free to do as he pleased.

Standing at the side of the ballroom with her closest friends, Aria couldn't help but let out a laugh. Her right hand coming up to cover her mouth as she did so, hiding her open mouth from view as her friend Maria scowled at her. Her friends' hands moved to her hips as she glared at Aria. "It's not funny! It was so scary! I didn't expect the birt to come flying towards me!" It took a couple more moments before Aria managed to calm herself down. A couple of the older people were giving her disapproving looks, but Aria couldn't care. This was the first time in a while that she's been allowed to laugh. A true, honest laugh.

"Sorry, sorry. But how could you not expect the bird to freak out? You put your hand into its cage." Aria murmured, slowly lowering her hand. The corners of her lips twitched as she tried to keep her laughing under control. "Diego said I could pet it! I thought it'd be like a dog and would just stand there so I could pet it." Maria mumbled and crossed her arms over her blue dress as she huffed and looked away in annoyance. "Maria, you're too naive for your good sometimes." Aria's other friend, Rosa said and shook her head at the blonde's annoyance.

A small sigh escaped from Aria as she raised the glass of white wine to her lips. Her fingers holding onto the step gently as she tipped the flute and took a small sip. It's been a while since the three talked together. Since her father's promotion, she's been home more making sure her little brother wasn't causing trouble while her stepmother spent all of the money that her father was now pulling in. Soon, Aria hoped to be gone from this life, doing what she honestly wanted to do.

"You can be so naive sometimes. Why do you always fall for what your older brother says?" Rosa asked and let out a small sigh. A small smile played along Aria's lips as she listened to her friends. Her right hand moved down and picked at invisible dust on her dress before standing up straight once more and looking around. There was a good mix of Camorra members and rich people who were associated with their life here today. Her bright green eyes roamed the tables where people sat, then to the bar where people were getting drinks. People, people everywhere. A gasp coming from her friends caught Aria's attention and she looked at them in surprise. "He's here, he's here." Maria rushed out. "Who?" Aria asked, her eyes flittering around before she looked towards the table her friend was staring at. "Bones." Was all Maria said before grabbing her friend and forcing her to turn her back to him and causing some wine to splash on her favorite dress. "Don't look at him!" Maria whispered in a harsh tone. "One wrong look and he could explode and break every bone in your body."

Engagement parties. What the fuck was the point of them? Ryder never understood it. Throwing money around to flaunt that a man was going to become a new owner of a pretty little ass that would be willing to spread their legs for them at any given moment? In his younger years, all Ryder had to do was go to a brothel that his family-owned and order one of the whores there to do so. No party was needed to signify that he was going to get laid. He just needed to show his face and everything would fall into place. Yet, once you reach adulthood, everyone expected parties and pleasantries. Which was all bullshit, in Ryder's mind? If Ryder had it his way, he wouldn't be marrying this girl. He'd just take her as a live-in fuck body, but sadly. This wasn't his territory and these people wanted an engagement party and a wedding.

Arriving fashionably late to his engagement party wasn't really in Ryders plans, but it happaned. He had slept in late after having a threesome in his hotel room and had to rush to leave. His jacket lost somewhere in the array of clothing that he left on the floor for the whore to rummage through and come out empty-handed. When he had arrived at the hotel the engagement party was being held in, Antonio was standing at attention and was ready to give him an earful. Being another capo though, he knew better than to do so and frankly Ryder wasn't really in the mood to have to listen to the man complain. He was the one who talked Ryder into marrying his daughter for the sake of peace. Ryder was more than okay with keeping the war going, he wasn't on the losing end. His territory wasn't being attacked constantly by the Russians. Yet.

Following Antonio to the small meeting room that was being used for the blushing bride to get ready, Ryder couldn't help but feel his heart beating rapidly. Was he nervous to meet his bride? Or because he was going to be chained to someone he didn't care about? Not that it'd stop him from going out and fucking whores or anything, no. But the thought that he'd be having someone looking through his shit was surely annoying. Although, once he walked into the room where his bride was waiting for him, it felt like the air from Ryder's lungs was punched out of him. A low whistle escaped from Ryder as his eyes went straight to the tits that were on display for his eyes to see. "Damn." Was all he managed to say, which earned a scowl from Antonio and the girls' mother seemed appalled by his word choice?

Dressed in plain black slacks, black dress shoes, and black shirt, you'd think that Ryder was going to a funeral. Now take into account him standing next to a beauty like Aerie? Well, they surely won't be winning a couple of the year. His eyes slowly shifted up towards the beauty's face after staring at her chest for a while. "I'd like a moment alone with Aerie." Was all Ryder said before raising his gaze towards Antonio and his wide. His right eyebrow arching as he dared for them to argue the soon to be a married couple a couple of moments to get to know each other.

Bones was something he was used to being called, but at times like this it irritated him. Hearing people whisper about him, he knew that he was a bad ass they didn't have to remind him. "Man I wish could have that tight little thing wrapped around me," he muttered to Jac the annoy friend he'd managed to make over the years. "I say what the boss don't know won't hurt him," he all but sang, nudging Matteo in the shoulder. With a roll of the eyes the older man shot him a glare. "And that's why you'll end up dead." He told him, watching as a few people around him gave him cold hard looks. He could feel the judgement from them. But he really couldn't fucking care what the mother fuckers thought. Just as long as they didn't get in his way. A young lacky came running up the his table before whispering something quietly into his ear. Shaking his head he sighed before stand, "see in a bit." He told Jac before taking off towards the back entrance. He had a bit of business to tend to. Hearing his name being whispered loudly he couldn't help but acknowledge, letting his eyes drift over to a trio of girls. A soft smirk on his lips as he watched them quickly act like he wasn't walking their way. A soft chuckled left his lips seeing one girl spill her drink. Grabbing a napkin from the closest table he made his way over to her. "Beautiful." He said offering her the cloth, smirking when her eyes wandered up to his. "You got a bit here," he lift his hand and wiped a bit of her check. "Enjoy the evening." He told her with a wink before turning and walking to the back entrances. He'd have to make it quick with his work. He had a lady he was most enthused with entertaining.

The back door swung open, and a sniveling man was standing there. In his hands was a briefcase. Matteo could see the trembling of his body. "Mr. King." He smiled knowing that not many people ever saw it, and those that did were either killed or had been tortured by him. Mr. King have been one of the luck ones to make if off Matteo's table. Of course dead men can't pay. The man let out a squeak, before trying to pass it off with clearing his throat. "I've got the money." He said, quickly opened up the briefcase and showing him the large sum of cash in side. "Well well well, they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. But it seems like I can." He sneered, closing the case before taking it. "I'll be in touch." He told the old man, watching as he sagged with relief. Though he knew it was far from over. Right now wasn't the time or place for a beating. And beside he still need the money counted and verified it was real. That's where someone else came into play. Walking through the door he was meet by Antonio the man had a cigar in his hands and was shaking. "Punk pissing you off, sir?" He asked knowing that this was hard for the man. His daughter was his pride and joy, but he let his son talk him into the treaty. And since he's going to be the ruler on day he'd need to make these types of decisions and it wasn't one that he stood behind. But he did stand behind Antonio and would until he stepped aside. He watched as the man was about to say something until his wife came out tears trailing down her face. He knew it wasn't the time and place for him. So he nodded and excused himself. First he'd drop the case off with one of the twins, then it was off to find his little klutz.
Aerie felt her cheeks light up with embarrassment, hearing his approval for her. It was ideal being whistled at, but she couldn't help but feel a bit of pride knowing he found her attractive at least. She slapped that though down as soon as he asked for a moment alone with her. What could he possible want to talk to her about. She didn't have any say so in this, so what was his angle. Feeling her mother resistance she smiled softly at her, before shooing her away. "I'll be fine." She told her softly knowing there wasn't much he could do to her. After all he wouldn't make it out of here alive if he did anything that would so much as threaten the treaty between the two clans. He may be powerful, but he wasn't on his turf. Aerie watched as her mother left the room. Before she turned her attention to the man she'd soon be calling husband. Not like the title would mean much. He'd be just like all the others a snake, slithering in and out of women's beds. Her mind was racing so much that when the door clicked closed she couldn't help but jumping. It startled her to say the least, but she didn't pay much attention to it as she did the man before her.

While her friend apologized and asked if she was alright, Aria set her to drink down on the table they were standing next to. "I'm just glad it was a white wine and not red. It shouldn't stain." She said quietly and then looked up as a male voice sounded. Her bright green eyes trailed up a strong chest and then widened as her eyes landed on the face of the man she was just staring at. "Um," Aria mumbled quietly, and then slowly accepting the cloth. "Thank-" She was stopped mid-sentence as he wiped a drop of wine off of her cheek. "You..." Aria let her words trail off as he walked away and she looked at her friends in confusion.

"Oh my god," Maria mumbled, breaking the silence before they all started to giggle in confusion. "Did, did that just happen?" Rosa asked as she looked towards Aria and Maria. "Yeah..." Aria mumbled and then blinked her confusion away from using the cloth to dab at her wet chest. "I'm going to head to the bathroom, make sure that my make-up is looking alright," Aria told her friends, who nodded that it'll be alright. Once in the bathroom, Aria grabbed more paper to help dry her dress, then she went to the mirror and fixed her slightly smudged mascara before exiting the bathroom of the hotel. From the corner of her eye, she noticed Bones coming back inside, but did her best to ignore him as she walked towards the ballroom. He might have been nice to her, but she was still a woman of the Camorra, she couldn't be alone with a man unless he was her husband.

    --

Once they were alone, Ryder reached into his front right pocket. His eyes stayed on Aerie as he did so, wondering what was going thought he girls mean at the movement. Usually, when a man reached downwards, he was drawing a gun, but he wasn't. No, he was playing up this arrangement. After all, her brother talked his ear off and made him want to strangle himself on more than one occasion as he talked about a treaty. "Catch," Ryder said as he pulled out a little black box and tossed it towards the younger woman. His eyes watched as she fumbled to catch the box but ultimately did so. "It's tradition to give the girl flashy rings, correct?" Ryder mused, wondering what she'd think of the big teardrop diamond ring that was surrounded by smaller diamonds, and rubies.

Walking into the room a little bit more, Ryder moved towards Aerie and then leaned against the wall near where she was sitting. His eyes once again taking her in. "Are you scared of me? Kitten?" Ryder asked slowly, his head tilting a little bit as he took in her appearance once more. Aerie was pretty, he'd give her that. Rather she'd be able to keep his attention though was another story. "Have you heard of the storys that circulate around me?" He narrowed his eyes, watching for any sort of reaction from the girl. If she was a scardy cat, she'd be for a hell of a life. And if she was a brave one, she'd probably still be in for a hell of a life. Afterall, there's no room for a bossy wife in the Mafia.

Bones moved through the building looking for the twins, letting his award winning smirk pull on his lips when he located on of them. In on hand she was holding a flute with a blue liquid in it, and the other she was brushing up on a man. One who was excited that the beauty was pressing up against him, however Matteo could see the fear in the mans eyes. He knew she was deadly as she was beautiful. It was what had most people fooled. "Busy?" He questioned her, before placing the case down on the table before her. "Now you are." He said, his voice low and warning. Knowing that he was leaving over a mil with her. And if she was stupid enough to play with the bosses money then she'd be glad enough to swim with the fishes. Turning he moved back to the bar, tapping the wood letting the man know he wanted something stronger than what he'd been drinking. Watching at as the cup was filed and then placed on a coaster. He nodded his head before taking it and walking away. Right now he was on the hunt, and he was surprisingly having more fun than an hour ago. Tonight seemed to be turning out to be a good night. Though he'd have to see just how it played out. Raising a brow he shook his head when he noticed one of the girls was now dancing on the floor. Letting himself move along the dance floor, he's eyes sweeping the room until they spotted the beauty. He was very intrigued about her, where did she come from. He'd never seen her at an event before. Meaning one of two things her family was new or she'd just come of age. Both of which cause him more interest. Moving towards her, he felt his blood run cold when he noticed her speaking with the Captain. His eyes shifted between the two, wondering if she was one of his mistresses. As he'd meet his wife several times, and her constant flirting got annoying. Moving in closer he found himself a seat not to far away allowing him to hear bits of their conversation.
Aerie felt a bit surprised when he reached into his pocket, though she didn't care. Honestly what ever he wanted to say or do it wasn't like she could fight it. If she so much as stepped a toe out of line she'd end up paying for it later. Men like him remembered. When he told her to catch she'd been lost in her own thoughts that she'd barely been able to hold the container. Upon composing herself she slipped open the box, her eyes falling on the most beautiful ring she'd ever seen. It was over the top, but was beautiful none the less. Not knowing what to say, she wondered why he was bothering to give her a ring like this. Now of all times, he could have waited until their wedding day. But it didn't seem like he was very traditional. But she couldn't say anything about this arrangement was traditional. Turning her head from the ring to him, she stood. Before pushing the train of her dress aside. "Should I be?" She questioned him, walking to her bags. Placing the ring on her finger she dropped the box down into the bag. Turning to give him her full attention. "I'm sorry should I know who you are?" She questioned him, of course she'd heard for his gang before but she'd never listened to the stories. Her life had consisted of studying and trying to make something of herself. And of course her crush. Something she'd been spending less time dwelling on. Moving across the room she stood before him, "I don't really care what goes on on your side of the world, but my life was here and my focused was here. But now we're here, so should I be scared of a man I've never met?" She asked him again.

Entering the ballroom once more, Aria thought she would be safe. That no one would have noticed that she had stepped out for a moment, except someone did. Her father stepped towards her and then frowned as he came closer to her, stopping a couple of steps away. "Where did you go, Aria?" He asked in that deep voice of his. "Bathroom, one of my friends spilled wine on me on accident," Aria explained, her gaze moving down towards the ground obediently. Her father was a man of power, and he often demanded her to give him respect like a cowering puppy would.

A tsk sound came from her father, Romano Bianchi. "Those hooligans shouldn't be considered your friends anymore, Aria. You're the daughter of a Captain, not a soldier anymore. You need to learn your place and act accordingly." Aria bit the inside of her lip nervously, she's heard this talk a hundred times, and it never got easier to listen to. "Yes, father," Aria said quietly and then closed her eyes for a moment. Collecting her thoughts and putting on a neutral sort of expression before looking up towards her father finally. The man let out a small hum before his approval. "Now why don't you go and talk to Valentina Rossi or Talia Abella? I'm sure they're nice girls." With that Aria's father walked away, going to schmooze with the other guests.

As soon as her father was out of earshot, a small sigh escaped from Aria. She didn't want to talk to Valentina or Talia, they were both incredibly rude girls. Bullies would be the better term because all they did was gossip and talk trash.

    ---

This girl was fiesty, she didn't show any fear or hesitation with her words. The right corner of his lips twitched, the only sign of amusement that the Capo allowed showing as he stared at the young girl with a blank expression. His arms crossing over his chest as he stood up straight and watched Aerie. Her ass looked amazing in that dress and he could not wait to tap that thing. "Brave words from a sheltered brat, huh Kitten?" Ryder mused, standing up straight, Ryder allowed for his hands to move to his sides as he moved towards her. His movements slow and deliberate.

Keeping his gaze on hers, Ryder moved closer to the young woman he was engaged to. Promised, betrothed. Stopping barely a step away from her, Ryder slowly raised a hand and dragged his knuckles along the side of her throat. Heeling her pulse beating underneath that sensitive skin. The warmth of the blood that was flowing through her veins. "I'm the one who's holding your life in my hands." Was the simple answer that Ryder offered Aerie. "You piss me off enough, I won't hesitate to punish you. You'll be my property soon, and that ring signifies it." He told her, referring to how in the Mafia a woman wasn't allowed to do anything or go anywhere without her husband, fathers, or brothers say. "So, I'd watch that pretty little mouth of yours." Ryder pulled his hand away slowly and put it back at his side. His eyes taking in how Aerie would react hearing that she was escaping one cage, only to go to another one.

Watching as Romano walked away he rolled his eyes, tipping his drink back he placed the cup down before standing. Pulling his tie loose, he grabbed two flutes of wine from a passing waiter. The rational part of his brain told him to stay away. But the part that didn't give a fuck about some foot solder who moved up the ranks fast. Besides Bones wasn't stupid there was something dirty going on with that man. "Stressing over it won't help." He told her before offering her a drink. Watching her closely as she took the drink from him. Part of him was worried she'd taken it so carelessly. However with her being at a family event, he couldn't only assume that she felt secure in no one tampering with the drinks. He honestly didn't know how to start the conversation with her, he knew nothing about her. Other than he dick head of a father. And that wasn't something he wanted to talk about.
Aerie felt the heat from his fingers it shocked her that her body reacted to his touch. Though she paid it no mind as he did his best to assert dominance. Blinking she turned her doe eyes to him. "Are you done?" She questioned him, "because until I become your property I still belong to someone else. And I still have to do as he says, which doesn't please you so either way I'd say I'm fucked." She told him knowing that right now she was being tugged between two alphas and she couldn't obey them both. So she had to pick her battles and right now the lesser of two evils was her father. He had never struck her, and she didn't see him starting now. "So are you done? Or do you still need me to listen to your orders?" She questioned him knowing nothing about this man. And he was right she'd been a shelter brat, though it wasn't in the ways he was thinking. She'd known about a lot of her father's business, however she was pamper and groomed. She'd not really enjoyed the killing or blood, she was squeamish to say the least. But that didn't mean she couldn't do serious damage to her father's business. She wasn't that sheltered. "Beside we have time to iron out your issues." She told him, knowing that she'd always been head strong and stubborn. But it wasn't something that was going to be easy for her to easily change. And after hours of dealing with her father's constant worry, she was ready to be done. They also still had a party to attend, and she really wanted to get out of these heels. Tonight was dragging by and with his need to control her she was already tired and they'd not even greeted their guest. Turning from him she headed towards the door, in hopes they could start this night in order to end it soon.
