Stella stepped out of the king's chambers, closing the door quietly before she pressed her back firmly against the wall. Her hand lingered on the door and her other rested against her stomach. The young maiden felt sick, though she knew she shouldn't linger in the hall in her nightgown. Run on to bed, the king had whispered in her ear. Stella could still feel his hands sliding along her curves, grabbing a little too roughly in certain places. A small whimper broke past her lips as she forced herself away from his door. For years, Stella had been tending to the queen. There had always been rumors floating around that the king liked to take his wife's handmaidens around behind her back, but Stella had never seen any proof. Until tonight.

Her whole body trembled, but she forced herself to walk with perfect posture, her head tilted up. The walk back to her own room would be a short one and she hoped she wouldn't run into anyone on the way. Each step she took, she could feel her slick mixed with the king's on her thighs. His scent still lingered on her, vetiver and spice. It tickled her nose and she hated it. All she could think about was a hot bath as she turned the corner that led to her chambers. Her mind felt hazy, like she couldn't hold on to a single thought for longer than a few seconds, or actually pay attention to what was in front of her. That was made clear when she ran straight into the prince, bumping into his chest. His fancy, gold-embroidered jacket felt scratchy against her skin, shocking her more than she already was.

"M-My apologies, your grace," Stella quickly stepped back, curtseying with her gaze directed to the ground. If she wasn't already humiliated, she definitely was now. Her face was burning red and she had the urge to quickly run around the younger brother of the king, but she knew how rude that would look. Straightening up, she looked up at him, clearly embarrassed. Everyone heard the rumors about what the king enjoyed doing and if anyone was to know the truth to them, surely it would be his brother Charles. Swallowing thickly, Stella found it almost impossible to hold his gaze for any amount of time. His scent was already cutting through the kings, and it was much more to her liking. It reminded her of smoke and leather-bound books. "E-Excuse me, I'm s-sorry," she apologized again, shrinking in on herself as she stared down at the floor, tiptoeing around him to continue down the hall.
