Orion quickly hurried through the side door of her farmhouse, suddenly distressed that her parents weren't home and wouldn't be for the rest of the night. Closing the door suddenly behind herself, she locked it quickly and turned away, rushing up the stairs towards her bedroom. All she had wanted to do was go for a walk, sneak a beer from the fridge while her parents were gone, and just enjoy herself. And she had been, she had left her home before the sun had set, just walking straight, knowing that her parents owned a couple of acres around their home. She must've been walking for longer than she realized because at some point she came across a little shack in the middle of the woods. Curiosity had gotten the better of the young girl and she had pushed the door out of the way. On the inside, there were shelves and shelves along the walls, all lined with jars filled with preserving liquid. Upon closer inspection, she noticed body parts. Eyeballs, tongues, hands, full heads, all around her. Even torture instruments. If she had stayed around long enough to inspect a bit more, she would've seen a trap door that led down into a basement level. But as quickly as she realized what she was looking at, she was bolting for the door. Orion had seen enough horror movies to know what would happen if she overstayed her welcome and she wasn't about to linger long enough to meet whoever owned all of this.

She had a pretty good idea. Their only neighbor was a young man, but he seemed too nice to do something like this..., but then again, maybe that was the perfect cover? When they had moved in a couple of weeks earlier, he had been one of the first people to welcome them. Coming over with a fresh loaf of bread he claimed to have baked from scratch. He seemed to be a confident alpha, his scent had been welcoming enough and the smile he kept on his face had been a brilliant one. Charming, that was the word she was looking for... He had been charming. Rushing through the trees back to her home had been terrifying on its own, but now that she was home, all alone... stuck in place... she felt like she couldn't breathe. Like she was being watched.

Ignoring the feeling in her gut, Orion moved into the kitchen, opening the fridge and grabbing a bottle of water. "Just relax... forget all about what you saw..." That seemed like the best option. The last thing she wanted was to start any trouble for her family or endanger herself. The best idea seemed to be the simplest one: just forget about it. Turning to the pantry, Orion pulled out a bag of popcorn and threw it in the microwave before heading into the living room to find a movie to put on. Anything to distract herself.

    Knock! Knock!

Orion almost jumped out of her skin. Or vomited. Or both. Her whole body seemed to freeze and it felt like a chore to force herself to look towards the front door. Who would be knocking at this hour? It was almost ten... Swallowing, she moved away from the couch, flinching each time she heard a kernel pop in the kitchen. Placing her hands against the door, Orion moved onto her tiptoes to look through the peephole. Of all the people she'd expect to see, which technically was no one, she certainly was shocked to see Henry standing on the front porch. What were the odds... Orion tried to tell herself that he might not even know about the shack... That was only an assumption. Still, she didn't feel safe answering the door. Keeping the chain lock on the door, Orion slowly cracked the door open.

    "Hello?"

Henry had been on edge since the moment that he found out he was getting new neighbours. The old couple that had used to live next door wasn't the least bit of a concern to him because they hardly ventured out of their home much at all anymore. They certainly weren't going to be travelling through the woods and wind up accidentally stumbling upon his shack filled with moments from his former victims. But knowing he was getting new neighbours and having no clue who they would wind up being... what if they happened upon his shack? What would he do then?

He would have two options at that point. Either run and start his life anew somewhere else or he was going to have to get rid of his neighbours. Henry wasn't too keen on that idea because he had always been so particular about his victims and who he decided to take. Some random man or woman was almost unlikely to fit his bill, not when it was so particular.

Baking a loaf of bread the day that he noticed the new family moving in, Henry had happily taken the loaf over to them around dinner time. He had even gone so far as to cut it, joking and smiling as he explained that because fresh bread was hard to cut and he wanted them to be able to enjoy the bread that he had made for them. Henry was skeptical though because it was a younger family with a teenage daughter... she would surely go traipsing through the woods at some point. It wouldn't surprise him at the least bit. But what if... Henry's stomach turned as he treated from the home and stuffed his hands into his pockets. He would have to be careful that no one happened upon his secret. That was what he settled on.
Henry was admittedly a bit surprised when he received a phone call from Orion's parents, asking him to go check up on her. THey wouldn't be home tonight and they just wanted to make sure that she was okay and that she knew they wouldn't be home until sometime late morning or early afternoon. Making his way toward the neighbor's house, Henry rolled his neck as he neared the building. He stepped up to the home, knocking several times before he stepped back. His hands shoved into his pockets while he waited for Orion to answer the door

His brows pulled together as he watched her pull it open, without lowering the chain. "Hey, Orion. I, uh.. I'm your neighbor, Henry. Your parents just called me and they wanted me to check up on you and let you know that they won't be home until tomorrow. Is everything okay?" Henry's voice lowered as he leaned forward slightly, scenting the air. There was no mistaking her fear. "You seem nervous.. did something happen?"

Staring at him through the small crack in the door, Ori tried telling herself that he couldn't be capable of such horrible things. The young man had been so nice, he had even baked bread and he was so handsome... The longer she thought about how perfect he seemed, the more she realized she was only confirming to herself that the shack had to belong to him. It was evident it unsettled them that she hadn't opened the door fully. The way he moved forward, his voice lowering... The news he brought didn't do much to calm her, but seeing as his scent was everywhere, helping to relax her, it wasn't obvious that it upset her. That much.

"Oh," she swallowed, tilting her head to the side slightly. Of all the times her parents could've chosen to stay out all night, on the one night she really wished they were home... Though, she knew if it hadn't been tonight, it would've been sooner or later. Eventually, her parents would've left her alone, and she would've went for a walk. She would've found the shack, regardless. "No, everything's fine," Ori answered maybe a little quicker than she would've liked.

Closing the door quietly, against better judgement, she unlatched the chain. Pulling it open again, she gave him a small smile, hoping he'd take it as a sign of good faith. The last thing she needed was to alarm him. "Just a new house. Big house, kinda creepy. Still getting used to it." She hoped he'd leave it there. It wasn't a lie, either. It was an old house, it made weird noises, it was dark and she was home alone. All of that together was recipe for the jitters. All she had to do was just forget about the shack.

Henry's brows pulled together slightly when Orion answered him just a bit too quickly. Something was off, Henry knew by the fear that she was hiding so well. If he hadn't been conducting so many crimes, Henry might not have been able to pick up on her fear but it was something he had been around so much so that he would be genuinely surprised if he couldn't pick up on fear from anyone at this point. He rocked back and forth on his heels, raising an eyebrow as he studied the young girl in front of him. It was clear she was upset and he felt a need to find out what was bothering her.

Any good alpha would be upset when an omega was distressed around them. Henry was just about to demand Orion open the door but she was doing it on her own, in a matter of moments. Henry couldn't help but offer her a gentle smile, trying to urge her to relax further. "S'okay, miss. It can be a bit uncomfortable out here all on your own.. especially if you're not used to being out in the middle of nowhere," he added with a lopsided shrug.

Clearing his throat, Henry tilted his head to the side as he raised an eyebrow. "Did you.. want me to come in? Maybe we can watch a movie or something until you get tired and then I can head on home. Make sure nothing nefarious happens," Henry offered, wondering if he could convince Orion to let him watch a movie or two with her, while they were all alone.

"Definitely not used to it," she assured him, her hand gripping the doorhandle with such force she was afraid she might break it off. "We used to live in the city," Orion wasn't sure why she was feeding him such useless information. It was highly doubtful he cared, but when she felt anxious, she had a habit of rambling. "People everywhere," she chuckled, before clearing her throat, nervously. "It's creepy being alone."

It was almost like she put her foot in her mouth. In the next moment, Henry was offering to stay. Her parents seemed to trust him, if they'd text him to come over and check on her. But they hadn't seen what she had, out in the woods. How many people had to suffer for that collection? Everytime she blinked, she saw that room as if it were burned behind her eyelids. It hadn't been abandoned either. No, all the jars had been kept clean, wiped down.

"Sure," she quietly stepped out of the way, permitting him entrance into her home. Orion loosened her grip on the door, though the longer she thought about it, the more it turned her stomach. Was she in immediate danger? Was he hinting that something disastrous could happen? No, she had to convince herself. She couldn't condemn him without proof. And so far, he'd done nothing. Orion closed the door after him, locking the door back behind him out of habit.

Turning to lead him into the living room, she fiddled with her sleeve, pulling it up and down her arm. "What kind of movie do you wanna watch? I have a lot of scary movies, but, maybe not those?" Orion typically loved horror movies, but seeing as she was certain she was standing next to a killer... Suddenly, she wasn't in the mood. "Thirsty?" Keeping her head down, she darted for the kitchen. Cursing under her breath, she knew how antsy she was coming off. She couldn't relax.

Henry had half expected Orion to tell him no and send him back on his way home so when she pulled open the door, he stood there studying her for a moment before he seemed to remember he needed to react. Henry cleared his throat before stepping through the door, his hands shoved into his pockets as he glanced around the house. He had been inside it before, sure, but it seemed different to be inside with Orion... all on their own. Knowing that her parents wouldn't be home any time soon, it would be so easy to make her just another victim. He could pin her beneath him, fuck her, before cutting her into pieces. Preserve the pieces of her that he wanted to keep, and pretend to be the concerned neighbour when her parents got home the next day.

But that almost didn't seem fun at all. Henry wanted to see just how far he could put it with Orion. She was nervous but why? Could he pull out of her why she was so on edge? She had already given him one reason but he couldn't be sure that he believed her. Running his hand through his hair, Henry toed off his shoes after a moment.

"Uh, yeah. Please. Tem.. lemonade, water. Whatever you have is fine by me," Henry explained as he made his way into the living room. He shrugged off his jacket and laid it across one of the chairs in the living room. Taking a seat on the couch, Henry leaned back in his seat and let out a sigh as he stretched his arms above his head. When Orion returned, he gave her a bright smile.

"Whatever you want to watch is fine. Horror... action. Hell, if you want to watch some romcom, I'll suffer. If it helps you relax a bit," Henry offered with a shrug of his shoulders. He was trying to play the charming part that he knew so damn well. Henry whistled when she showed off the bowl of popcorn. "Beautiful. This is turning out to be a pretty damn good night, huh?" He joked as he took a handful of the popcorn.

Henry's words barely left his lips before she disappeared into the kitchen. Her first immediate decision was to text her parents. Pulling her phone out of her pocket, she noticed how shaky her hands were. Barely able to hold the phone still enough to focus. Hey, Henry showed up. Sorry, I was taking a walk, must've lost service. Just a heads up, he's staying around for a bit. I got a little creeped out. But be safe, see you tomorrow! Just in case... She still wasn't sure she could trust him.

Pouring him a glass of tea, she grabbed herself a water. Throwing a bag of popcorn in the microwave, she figured that was a good reason to keep some distance between them for a few minutes. Hiding away in her own kitchen, that was something she never suspected. All she knew was that she needed to relax. Her soured scent definitely wasn't going to assure him that she was fine. And if he was like any normal alpha, it'd be harder to get him to leave if she was even the slightest bit upset.

The microwave beeping loudly at her was enough to cause her to jump. "Fuck," she whimpered, her hand on her chest. Her heart was pounding. Tossing her water bottle under her arm, she poured the popcorn into a big bowl and grabbed his glass in her hand. Taking in a deep breath, she reminded herself to just calm down. Returning to the living room, her face heated up from the smile he offered her. It was adorable, and she could admit that regardless of how terrified she felt. "What's a movie without popcorn?" Forcing a laugh, she sat the bowl down on the table after he helped himself to a handful. Handing him his drink, she sat her water down on the table before sinking down on the couch. She was growing more thankful by the second that she had worn a comfortable sweater and a pair of leggings out to hike, grateful now that she didn't have to sit here next to him uncomfortable.

Grabbing the remote, she leaned back against the cushions of the couch. Turning the television on, she began searching through their apps, figuring out what to watch. She decided on interview with a vampire. Something that hopefully wouldn't freak her out too badly, but wouldn't bore her to death. Something told her she wouldn't be focusing on the movie anyway.

Almost as if to make the whole situation worse, rain started beating down on the roof and in the distance, thunder was rumbling. "Great..." Ori groaned, her hand flying to her face, unable to hide her anguish at the situation. Sinking lower into the couch, she let out a deep breath and just tried to ignore the brewing storm. At least this was another excuse she could use...

Henry didn't so much as bat an eye at the rain that started sounding. On his walk over, its scent had been something he couldn't ignore. He had known damn well it was going to start to rain and now he had an excuse to stay over even later... especially if the rain didn't let up any time soon. He hoped that it wouldn't because surely Orion wouldn't send him on his way with it storming. Right? When Orion groaned, Henry raised an eyebrow as he glanced toward her. He hadn't thought much at all about the storm beyond using it an excuse to stick around but seeing the distress it caused Orion sent his instincts into overdrive. He wanted to reach out and console her, his fingers itching, desperate to remind her that she was safe but he couldn't bring himself to. What if it made Orion even more upset than she already was?

Henry cleared his throat, raising an eyebrow. "Don't like storms, huh?" He asked, his voice low as he twisted around to face her fully. He gave her a lopsided smile, his head tilted to the side. "Storms out here are pretty intense sometimes... I'll give you that," he said with a soft laugh, trying to ease the tension in the room. Henry would be damned if he left now, noting just how upset Orion had grown from the storm that had started only a few moments ago. He was almost positive that when her parents arrived home tomorrow that they would be thankful for him staying around. Her father would surely understand why, a distressed omega would upset any alpha.

"Might be able to see some pretty awesome lightning though... if we look out the back porch," Henry suggested, wondering if the idea would help her to relax and not hate storms as much as she did at the moment. "But that's only if you want," he added quickly, wanting to make it clear to Orion that he wasn't going to force her into something that made her uncomfortable. That was the last thing on his mind. At least for now.

Saying that Orion didn't like storms was a massive understatement. Rain, she could handle. A little thunder, fine. But a full blown thunderstorm, with lightning? She wasn't a fan, not even in the slightest. And luckily, where they had lived, they hadn't seen too many storms while she grew up. The few she could remember, she had hid herself away in a closet or the bathtub. Anywhere compact, where she could make a quick nest and feel safe. She hated storms.

The rain already seemed to be getting louder, heavier. It was even smacking against the windows, creating a constant wash across the glass. "You could say that..." The young omega whimpered, staring out the window into the dark forest, which was blurry through the heavy rain. She pressed her palms down into the couch, contemplating hurrying over to the windows and closing the curtains. She couldn't do anything about the sound, but she didn't have to see it, did she? Glancing towards Henry, she hadn't noticed him move towards her, a bit closer. His scent was hanging in the air, and as much as she dreaded him being here, his presence was certainly keeping her calm. For the most part.

Until he mentioned lightning. All the color drained from her face at his suggestion. Her eyes widened at just the idea of purposefully trying to watch lightning. "Uh-.. I hope it doesn't do that at all." It felt like she was in some horrible, awful horror movie. A badly written one, at that. Or some ridiculous nightmare and if that was the case, she wished she wake up any second now. Talking about it must've conjured it up because moments later, lightning crackled across the sky, illuminating everything, almost blindingly bright. The sound it made alone, like a gun shot, sent Orion jumping out of her skin. She flinched, pressing herself back into the couch to brace herself. Tears burned her eyes, she was so embarrassed. How old was she? To be so terrified by something as natural as a storm? More so than potentially sitting next to a serial killer. Taking a deep breathe, she closed her eyes for a few seconds and exhaled through her nose.

"Sorry," she laughed, forcing her eyes back open. "I seem like a big baby, don't I?" It was easier if she tried to play it off, like this wasn't her normally. Because it wasn't. If she hadn't seen what she had in that shack, she wouldn't be a complete mess right now. If anything, she should thank the storm for giving her a reason to tell Henry why she was so frightened. "I swear I'm not this jumpy all the time."

Henry had sat up straight when Orion all but jumped out of her skin. He frowned as he turned to face her fully, unable to ignore the tears that had welled in her eyes. Blood started to rush south at the visual, his mouth-watering. He cleared his throat, readjusting in his seat before he reached out to set his hand on her thigh. "No, it's okay, sweetheart. It's not something you're used to... so I get it. It's just that it's something that you're not used to, right? And you're all alone. Of course, you're upset, omega. I don't blame you one bit," he said, trying to ease Orion's nerves. Henry's instincts were kicking in, pushing him to care for her.

He started to emit a low purr, his hands hovering above her legs for a moment before his arms moved to slide around her waist. Henry wasn't asking permission to touch her but he hoped that she realized that he was only meaning to comfort her. Henry held Orion to his chest, leaning back against the couch as he ran his fingers through her hair. "S'okay, omega. You're safe, I promise," he murmured, his purr quieting when he spoke before it grew louder again.

"Do you want to change the movie or is this good?" Henry asked after a moment, glancing down to her with a raised eyebrow. Continuing to purr, Henry hesitated before he finally spoke again. "Or I could read you a story. I've been told I'm pretty good at voices," he joked, fully attempting to do whatever he could to help her to relax and ignore the storm going on outside.

"Y-yeah," she nodded her head quietly, her voice breaking as he prompted her. That was all it was, just something she wasn't used to. His hand on her leg sent goosebumps running up her arms and before she could even realize what he was doing, she was pressed up against his side. His large arm hooked around her, holding her in place. His chest vibrating gently as he purred, enough to keep her soothed. If he wanted to hurt you, he would've already, she tried to believe her own thoughts. He wouldn't hurt her, right? A big strong alpha like him, wouldn't hurt a scared little omega, right? If he wanted to, he certainly had enough of an opportunity.

Gently, she rested her head on his shoulder, feeling his fingers rake through her hair. The rain against the roof kept her on edge and wondering if she was in the arms of a serial killer, certainly wasn't helping. Slowly leading her eyes down her arms, she realized just how muscular this man was. He felt like stone beneath her and she wondered what he did to keep in shape. There was a lot of work that could be done around his farm, that was for sure, but her mind kept going to darker places. How easy it would be for him to just break her.

Forcing her eyes back up to his face, she brought her hand up to wipe at her eyes. The movie definitely wasn't holding her attention, instead, all of her focus was on him. But something told her no matter what he tried to do, he wouldn't be able to calm her. She needed to get herself in check, he'd never leave until she relaxed. "W-wanna go upstairs?" The second the question left her lips, she knew exactly how it sounded. Her face blushed red out of embarrassment. "I-I just mean... I... M-my nest," she quietly whispered, knowing some alphas thought negatively about such things.

Henry breathed a small sigh of relief, more relieved than he likely should have been when Orion relaxed against his chest. It was what he had been hoping for but he wasn't holding out for the opportunity. Henry relaxed further, continuing to play with her hair in an effort to keep the young omega calm. Orion wasn't someone he intended to turn into a victim so it wasn't even on his radar. All Henry was thinking about at the moment was helping her to relax and get through the storm because she was just a young pup, all alone in the middle of nowhere. Of course, Orion was nervous, Henry didn't think he could blame her for it.

"Upstairs? Yeah, of course, sweetheart," Henry agreed, even after she had specified that all she wanted was to go to her nest. In the back of his mind, he wondered if she would let him into her nest. Henry was a monster, that wasn't something he could deny if he was confronted, but destroying the sanctity of an omega's nest? That was even going too far for him. It was something that he simply wasn't willing to do, so long as he wouldn't push too far. Henry supposed if it was the right circumstance, he would probably do anything he could to get to a victim that he had picked up.

Following Orion up the stairs and into her room, Henry was quiet as he eyed her form. Henry shoved his hands into his pockets, pausing in the doorway of her room. "Do you.. need anything? A bath probably isn't a good idea but if there's anything else I can do to help you, omega, I will," he added in a low voice, tilting his head to the side.

Orion took the stairs two at a time, wanting to get up to the second floor of the house before another loud burst of lightning could scare her. The house was dimly lit, no lights on in any of the rooms or halls. Everything was under a blue tinted haze, and even though she knew it was silly, she felt like she was intruding in her own home. It didn't feel like her home. Leading him to her room, she pushed the door open, immediately embarrassed by the little bit of mess. It appeared as if a small tornado had come rushing through the room, messing up the bed sheets and leaving some of her dresser drawers unlocked. Different things were just splayed out across the floor, and a few more boxes needed to be unpacked. Orion couldn't help her instincts, couldn't help feel ashamed that an alpha was looking at her room in a complete mess.

"I.." she looked up at him, deciding it was best to probably leave the light off. "still...trying to unpack and figure out where things go," she whimpered, the smallest excuse she was willing to offer him. Making a beeline for the little nest in the corner of her room, Orion thought she might cry from how happy she was to see it. It was small, but her father had hung a dark blue canopy that was stitched with different constellations all through out, and golden stars even hung down from the center. It hung above a small circular nesting mattress, piled high with different pillows and blankets.

It was the neatest thing in the room at the moment, because since moving in, she hadn't needed to use it. "No bath, no..." He was right about that, but she still moved first to her dresser. Pushing in some of the open drawers first, trying to tidy up, she then pulled open the second drawer and rifled through her things. Before pulling out a pair of shorts and a much thinner shirt. "I...I'm just going to change real fast, 'kay?" She whispered, before disappearing into her small bathroom.

Stepping back out, Orion rubbed her arm nervously, feeling much more exposed. But oh how much more comfortable she was. Inching towards her nest, she lowered herself down onto the mattress before grabbing at the blankets. "You...said something about a story?"

Henry nodded at the excuse she gave him when she didn't reach to turn on the lights. "I don't blame you. I remember moving into my house... took almost two months before I had managed to get everything unpacked and in its proper place. Unpacking can be brutal," he added with a small chuckle. He smiled warmly, his eyes following her as she disappeared into the bathroom. Henry hadn't moved from his spot when she returned, not wanting to invade her personal space. Despite all of the crimes that he had committed, Henry didn't think of himself as a horrible person.

He watched as she retreated to her nest and he couldn't help the way his heart picked up, watching Orion wrap herself up in the nest that looked like she hadn't even used it since coming here. Henry's brows shot to his hairline but still, he found himself nodding his head when Orion asked about a story. It was the least he could do to agree when he had already offered it. If reading her a story meant Orion being able to relax, Henry would be more than willing to do it. It was his job as an alpha to provide for her in any way that he could.

Inching forward into her room, Henry lowered to his knees by her nest. He raised an eyebrow, tilting his head to the side. "Is it.." Henry trailed off, clearing his throat. "Okay? Or do you want me to stay out of it? That's okay, too," he offered in a low voice, deciding that this was a decision best left up to the omega in front of him.

Orion quickly made herself comfortable. For a moment, it was all she was focused on. Even forgetting about the alpha watching her. She pushed the blankets and pillows around, until she could wrap herself. One of the blankets pulled over her shoulders as she slouched down. It was only then that she finally brought her attention back up to Henry.

"If.. you want," she whispered, knowing there was plenty of room in here for him too. That, and her nest wasn't really her own anyway. It had been completely dismantled in the move, and there was nothing special in here yet, no scents at all. She could easily wash the blankets to rid it of his scent later if she needed. Also, he was still an alpha. And she was still a frightened omega. Being in her nest helped a lot, but the comfort from an alpha would always be the best.

"There are books up there," she pointed to a dark purple bookshelf in the kitchen. "Or were you going to make something up?" Her eyes slowly ran down him, still in awe at just how big he was. He towered over her, even on his knees, and his body completely blocked the entrance into her nest. She felt cornered by him, but his scent was keeping her relaxed enough that it wasn't freaking her out.

Henry had half been expecting Orion to deny his request so when she agreed to let him into her nest, his brows raised slightly. Before he could think too much about it, Henry started to move forward until Orion motioned toward the bookshelf in the corner of the room. He was already pushing to his feet again when Orion asked if he was just going to make something up. He couldn't help but chuckle softly as he shook his head. "I don't think so. I mean, I could... but it probably wouldn't be all that good," Henry explained as he started thumbing through the books on the shelf. After he had picked one, Henry turned back toward Orion's nest.

Offering a small smile as he paused outside of her nest, Henry looked up to her with a raised eyebrow. "Where should I lay?" He asked, not wanting to disrupt her nest. It was evident that it wasn't used much at all but still, a nest was sacred. No matter what way you spun it as far as Henry was concerned.

Henry cleared his throat before opening his arm to let Orion cuddle into his side. He made sure to keep his hand on her side, not wanting it to wonder and start to scare her. At least not yet. Henry shifted around a bit until he could hold open the book with both hands. henry started to read the story, making sure to use 'silly' voices when the story called for it.

Orion crawled into Henry's arm, cuddling up against his side once he was comfortable in her nest. The rain was still beating down on the roof, and Ori still felt nervous, wondering if she was safe around this alpha, but his scent was working magic on her. It was so fresh and inviting, keeping her almost sedated when otherwise, she sure she'd have been freaking out. Letting her head rest on his chest, she pressed her face into his side, allowing her heavy eyelids to close. She didn't intend to fall asleep, feeling like that was dangerous, but with his soothing, deep voice lulling her to sleep, it was inevitable.
The next thing Ori knew, it was the next morning. Birds were chirping outside and sunlight was washing into the room. Henry's scent still lingered in the air, on the sheets of her nest, but after rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she realized he was gone. She wondered how long he'd stayed, if he had left last night or early that morning.

Either way, she could hear her parents downstairs. After getting dressed, she made her way down to the kitchen where her mom was quick to offer her a muffin. "Hey, sweetie. We just got home. Picked up breakfast." Banana bread muffins. Taking one, she thanked her mom and wondered if she should tell her about the shack. Whether it was Henry's or not, shouldn't she ...tell someone? Deciding against it, she told her mom she was going to go for a walk.

She couldn't stop thinking about what she had found. Questions flooded her mind, like how many victims there had been, who could be sick enough to keep body parts? Before she knew it, Ori found she was walking through the woods back towards the shack, but this time, she stayed further away from it. The moment she noticed it, she decided to start walking in the direction of Henry's farmhouse. Wondering how close the shack was to his home. That would tell her something, right?

It only took her ten minutes to walk from the shack, through the woods before she saw Henry's home. The shack was a twenty five minute walk from her home. Realizing it was practically in back yard, she felt vomit come up in the back of her throat. It had to be his ...

Henry had gotten up early the next morning and headed back to his house after realizing that it had stopped raining. He left Orion in her nest, deciding that it was probably best not to linger for much longer. Her parents had asked him to check up on her, not to sleep in her nest after they had both managed to fall asleep. Henry showered and decided to eat a quick breakfast before heading out to the pastor, taking the better part of the morning to brush his horse down. Cleaning out the animal's stable took nearly an hour with resetting it before Henry tossed in several large handfuls of hay. Once Henry was satisfied, he turned to leave the small barn he had built solely for his horse.

Stepping out of the barn, Henry wiped his hands off on his jeans. He took several, slow steps forward until he scented the air and a seemingly familiar scent washed over him. Henry's brows pulled together as he looked around, his nose lifted into the air. He had spent several hours the night before, cuddled up with Orion. It would have been farfetched for him not to recognize her scent, no matter how faint it was at the moment.

He didn't see Orion on the horizon so he shook his head, deciding that it was probably just a remnant from Orion being cuddle up with him. His shower that morning had been pretty fast, maybe Henry just hadn't been as thorough at he should have been. That was all this was. Right?

Henry cleared his throat as he stepped back into his house, leaving the inside open so that the breeze could blow through the main floor of his home. Deciding that he ought to get some lunch made up, Henry headed into the kitchen after he had toed off his shoes so that he didn't track dirt into the house.

Orion decided she couldn't just leave it and turn back. It was probably dangerous, but she needed answers. Sneaking down the side of his property, still hiding in the trees, Orion ran around to the front. The door was left wide open and she could catch his scent in the air. He had just been outside. That realization made goosebumps run down her back. What if he had caught her?

Digging her hands into the pockets of her cardigan, Orion walked up to the front porch before stopping right at the open door. Raising her hand, she knocked against the doorframe before calling out, "Uhm, Henry?" All Ori could see from peering inside was stairs leading to the second floor and a small hall leading back into the kitchen.

She didn't even feel like she needed an excuse to be here. It wouldn't seem odd. Henry was an alpha and after last night, it wouldn't be surprising for an omega to start to catch feelings. Maybe she was feeling something. After all, his scent still lingered on her. She hadn't washed him off of her that morning, nor had she cleaned the blankets in her nest. And possibly, she had also been a little sad when she realized he was gone that morning. Just because he was an alpha didn't mean he had to take care of her, but he still had.

When he appeared down the hall, Ori forced a small smile on her face. His jeans were a little dirty and a thin layer of sweat was glistening across his face. "Hey." Looking at him certainly made her heart melt, but she also found herself afraid to even breathe. What if it was him and he became suspicious of her? "I just wanted to come say thank you, for last night."
