Curse the Ancient Ways

Once Thomas started tugging her away from the strange creature, Rosemary took one last look before hesitantly following him. She didn't feel good about any of it but part of her wanted to investigate rather than run. Though Thomas was probably right to want to get away before something else weird showed up. "We're not just going to go home are we?" Rosemary asked him as she started to turn with Thomas and walk quickly towards their cars. She couldn't imagine them just going their separate ways as of right now. Unless Thomas knew more than he was letting on?

"No, I think not." A blonde haired man said as he slid off the hood of Thomas' car. "At least not yet that is." His eyes shifted between Thomas and Rosemary for a moment before a bit of a smile came along his face. "Good to see that you two are getting along this time. That tends to make things easier for me. Now how much have you figured out?"

Thomas frowned as she asked about going home, hesitating a moment or two before shaking his head. "No. I don't know. I can drive you home, or you can come to my place, but I don't think it's a good idea to split up. Not when there are monsters after us." He explained, wrapping an arm around her shoulders to keep her close in case something else appeared.

He jumped slightly when the man spoke and slid off the hood of his car, frowning worriedly as he moved himself between him and Rosemary. "Who the hell are you?" He snapped, glaring at him. This guy seemed to have some idea what was going on, and the last thing he wanted was to let down his guard.

"Oh, I apologize, I should have introduced myself." The blonde man stood up straighter as a hand reached into the breast pocket of his suit. He pulled out a black business card and a navy blue envelope. Though both items looked strange as they seemed to be glowing with some unearthly power. He threw the business card at Thomas with precision accuracy to land in between the man's fingers. Once Thomas looked at it, glowing gold letters floated about the business card.



Rosemary pressed into Thomas' back, allowing him to protect her from the other man. Though her head peaked over his shoulder to look down at the card that was in Thomas' hands. Her eyebrows furrowed together in confusion before she looked at the man that called himself Hermes. "You really expect us to believe that?" Rosemary said in disbelief.

"Yes I do, Persephone." Hermes said with ease. "Why would you not? You saw the griffin. Does that seem to be a normal creature to you?"

Thomas watched the man skeptically as he pulled out a business card and threw at him, watching him for a few extra moments before looking down at the card, his brows raising in disbelief as he read it over. Did this man seriously expect him to believe this bullshit? But as he looked back up at the man he realized that for some reason he believed him. This guy really was Hermes, and him referring to Rosemary as Persephone was the truth as well.

After glancing at Rosemary for a moment he turned back to look at Hermes, a frown still on his face. "Let's assume you're telling the truth, why the hell doesn't she know who you are if she's Persephone?"

"The same reason that you don't know who I am, Hades." Hermes told him rather pointed of factly. He took a step forward towards them but no further. "You know that I am not speaking any lies to you. I know you can tell that I am telling you the truth, although it may seem hard to believe at the moment. But how else to explain what occurred tonight? You both did things that are impossible for a mortal to achieve. A weapon pulled from no where, thorns being shot out from hands."

A deep frown came over Rosemary's face as she thought over his words. He was right about it all. For, some unknown reason, Rosemary felt like it was the truth despite how strange it all sounded. And she glanced down at her hands for a moment. It also explained how she was able to do what she had did. And why there was a griffin there. Everything seemed true although she wanted to deny it all.

"Then how do we not know who we are?" Persephone asked as she looked back at Hermes. "If we are truly Gods, then why are we living mortal lives?"

"You were cursed. Even the curse is unable to stop your true forms and powers from shining through but it causes you to die and then be born unknowing the truth. Of course you don't actually die, but as close to death as a god can get." Hermes told them. "But now you know the truth and your powers have been coming back to you. It is time for the both of you to return to your duties."

Thomas frowned deeply as Hermes referred to him as Hades, knowing in his gut that the man's as telling the truth, but still unable to believe something so crazy. He wasn't very familiar with greek mythology, but knew enough to know that Hades was supposed to be king of the underworld, and that Persephone was his bride. That certainly woulde explain the unnatural pull he felt when around Rosemary, but just because they were supposed to be married didn't mean she wanted to be with him.

"Wait, how the hell are we supposed to just return to our duties if we don't even know what they are, let alone remember who we are?" He frowned, looking at Rosemary worriedly for a moment before looking back at Hermes. "And what about this curse? Why would someone curse us, and how do we get rid of it?"

"The explanation of the curse is not up for me to say. I am sure one of the others will come down to explain that. But I am here to get you back into your duties. Now, I can't tell you how to use your powers but it will come back to you once you are in the swing of things. The two of you always find a way to get back to your jobs once you know about them." Hermes said with a little chuckle. "Now first, let's have a change of scenery."

Hermes suddenly came flying forward and grabbed them both by the shoulder. In what seemed like a blink of an eye, the world was swirling around them both and a new one was replacing it. The both of them soon felt a hard floor appear under their feet as their vision came back to normal, revealing a throne room that the three of them were now standing in.

Rosemary had grabbed on Thomas' arm once the sudden travel had started. And she was holding onto him tightly as they appeared into the marvelous throne room. As she looked around, she could not help but sense a feel of familiarity to it.

"Welcome to the throne room of the underworld," Hermes said as he started to walk down towards the stairs where the two thrones sat.

The young woman looked up at Thomas with a worried look in her eyes. "Thomas?" She said softly, trying to get a sense of if he thought all of this was really happening as well.

Thomas frowned as Hermes said he couldn't explain the curse to them, a bit suspicious of that, shaking his head a bit. "Wait, wait.." He started, although he was cut off as Hermes rushed toward them, holding onto Rosemary tightly. His head spun a little as they finally landed onto the floor in the throne room, taking a moment to steady himself before looking around and then back down at Rosemary as she said his name.

"It's ok, Rosemary." He murmured softly, squeezing her a bit in his arms as he held her close. "I won't leave you, I promise. We'll figure this out together, ok?" He assured her, offering her a weak smile before turning to follow Hermes toward the two thrones, keeping an arm around Rosemary.

It took the woman a moment but she slowly nodded her head to him. She shifted in closer to Thomas as much as she could before turning her attention back to Hermes. "How did you do that? Bring us here."

"All Gods and Goddess have their own method of traveling. As a messenger god, I just use a simple teleportation spell with the wind." Hermes shrugged a bit. "You'll have to practice yours before I leave you two. Otherwise you won't be able to leave..." Hermes looked around the throne room. "Well, go sit." He motioned to the thrones. "Zeus was nice enough to imbued them with the power so you can remember how to use some of yours. Just the basics but it used to be so annoying waiting around for you both to learn easy shit."

Rosemary looked up at Thomas before slowly making her way up to the throne to sit down.

Thomas wrapped his arm securely around her waist, making sure that if anything happened he'd at least be able to shield her from danger with his body. Although with all the crazy stuff that had been happening, he wasn't even sure that he'd be able to do much to protect her if Hermes or someone else wanted to hurt her. But he'd die trying if he had to.

He frowned a bit as he listened to Hermes explain how they'd have to practice their magical transportation before he left so that they could leave, giving Rosemary a worried glance before slowly approaching the thrones with her. He gave Hermes a look as he told them that they needed to take a seat in the thrones to regain their basic powers, trying to gage whether or not it was a trick, but nodded nonetheless, and holding onto Rosemary's hand so she knew he was in this with her sat down in the throne.

Rosemary's hand tightened around Thomas' as they got to the two thrones. The woman took in a deep breath though before turning around and sitting on the one she supposed was meant to be 'hers'. Though as she sat down, she quickly felt a strong surge coursing through her head, pulling out powers deep in the recesses of her mind.

Once the feeling suddenly went away, the woman grabbed onto her chest, taking a deep breath as she tried her best to collect herself. Rosemary pulled her hand away Thomas as she stood up from the throne, raising a hand up. Suddenly a long line of grass and flowers somehow started to grow from the stone floor. Her head turned to look down at Thomas, her eyes wide from seeing what she had just done. "This can't be real."

Hermes picked up one of the flowers from the floor and stepped up to the thrones. Once in front of Rosemary, he offered it to her with a warm smile. "You'll get used to it soon. You always do, Lady Persephone."
