Matteo had been breathing too heavily to hear the door open and close behind him. The energy it took to torture could be a lot sometimes. And it certainly did not help that fury was currently boiling in his blood. This man was really pissing him off. First, Matteo had to leave his own party, which he definitely did not like doing when clients were around, to take care of him. Also, to make it worse, the fucking asshole was refusing to talk. His arm pulled back, getting ready to punch again but as he heard a voice behind him, Matteo's head swiveled, his hard eyes focusing on the person behind him.
The moment his eyes focused on Stella, the man became frozen to the floor. That was one of the last people he was expecting to see. And this truly was about to become a nightmare. His mind raced quickly, trying to figure out what to do or what to say. Though what could he say that mad sense? That still made him look like the perfect man in her eyes? Matteo didn't really want to lose her yet... but was there something he could say or do that would convince her to stay at his side.
First, he kicked the crowbar at his feet under the seat of the beaten up man before slowly turning to Stella. "It's not what it looks like," The man said though he grew quiet for a moment as he looked back at the man. "Okay... maybe it is what it looks like." Matteo said softly before looking back at her. He tried his best to get his body to untense as he took a few steps forward towards her. Though he didn't get too close in case she panicked.
"I... couldn't find a good time to tell you the truth about what I did," Matteo said, keeping his voice as gentle as he could. "I was hoping you would remember. Hoping that it wasn't something I had to reveal to you a second time..." He reached his hand out to her, hoping she would take it.
