Kiera tapped down onto her waitress pad as she waited for the flow to come back to the restaurant. It wasn't a particularly busy time, it never was. But she just wanted something other to do than to stand there and think. Or talk to her one of her work friends about her lack of money. Things were getting tight...and Kiera was not sure what she was going to do about it. If there was much that she could do about it. She glanced out the door from the back of the kitchen out to the restaurant. There were some tables filled but... not enough to dull her thoughts.

"Are you sure there is nothing that you can do, Kiera? You can't just... drop out. It's your last year! And you've worked so hard." Her coworker said to her, a deep frown on the older woman's face as she spoke to Kiera.

The younger woman let out a sigh. "They didn't approve my financial aid this year... I don't know why but there is nothing I can do. I already appealed it and they rejected. I don't know what I can do. Maybe take more hours here?" Kiera shook her head a bit at the thought. "Even then I don't know if that will be enough. I might just have to quit..."

Kiera tightened her grip on her waitress pad before she started to stand up straighter. "I am going to check on my table." With that, Kiera headed over to her section to her one table she currently had. "How is your meal going?" She asked him, smiling as much as she could at him at that moment. "Would you like any dessert?"

Hazel eyes gazed out the window of the small restaurant. Dominic's left elbow rested on the table as his chis rested in his hand. His right hand held a spoon that was dipped in his coffee and slowly swirled it around. It was piping hot and he was trying to cool it enough to sip so that he wouldn't burn his mouth. Then, his thoughts once again had come back to haunt him. Isabella wanted to ruin him and his family's business. The bitch was going to get what she wanted and it didn't seem like there was anything that Dom could do.

Sipping up straight, Dominic set the spoon he was holding aside on the neat little napkin and grabbed the small cup. Raising the cup, Dominic sipped. His gaze still focused on the outside world as he drank his coffee. It was bitter, strong, black. Just the way that he liked it. It was soothing to him for some reason.

Then, the soft voice that always seemed to draw his attention echoed into his eardrums and Dominic lowered his cup of coffee and looked towards the young beauty. Kiera, she was a lovely little thing. She was always here when Dominic steps by for a quick bite. To see how the other side lives, to remind himself that not everyone had what he had. Which was why he'd always make sure to tip them well here. He could see the stress on the staff's shoulders and felt like it was a way to get into the lords good graces with all of the fucked up shit that he does.

"No, thank you." Dominic said calmly, offering the server a small polite smile. "How've you been?" He asked, reaching for his coffee once more and taking a small sip. "You look stressed."

Kiera was a little taken back when Dominic revealed that she looked stressed. It was something that Kiera thought she had been hiding well enough from her customers but it seemed that was not the case. Unfortunate... but there was nothing much she could do about it if others picked up on how she was feeling. of course, she would try to keep up a better mask but besides that, she would have to let it be.

"Stressed," Kiera told him gently, not seeing the point in lying to her customer now that he had already figured it out and said so. "How have you been?" Her eyes glanced over his face for a long moment, thinking that Dominic seemed off as well. Though she didn't want to say so. After all, Dominic was one of the restaurant's favorite customers, or in the least, one of hers. He was always so kind and tipped extremely well. She liked that he treated them all with respect, with could not be said about every person that walked in.

"Would you like your check then?" Kiera asked him. She had already asked if he wanted to order anything and it seemed that the man only wanted a cup of coffee. Which was a little unusual but the place was quiet so maybe Dominic just thought that this was a good place to think for a while.

The corners of Dominic's lips raise into an amused smirk as he set his coffee cup down and stared into the dark abyss. "Stressed." He said, copying what Kiera said as he looked up at her young face. Amusement dancing along with his gaze as he looked at her. He wondered what she'd think. A man like him, who drove a bugatti chiron could be stressed. "Life can be cruel in unusual ways, huh?" His gaze looked back up towards Kiera for one more moment before he motioned towards the empty side of the booth that was in front of him. "If you want to vent, I'm open to listening." He offered.

Raising his cup of coffee to his lips, Dominic finished the last couple of sips of the caffeinated drink. His gaze shifting outside once more to his car. His first big purchase, much to his grandfather's amusement. Being the responsible grandson that he was, his grandfather assumed that he'd put his first paycheck of being CEO in the savings account he had. Nope, spent a little more than half on a freaking car. One he could use to its full potential no less because they lived in the city.

Looking at Kiera, Dom sat back a little bit more. Getting relaxed as he waited to see if she'd be willing to open up to him, but also willing to accept her rejection of his offer. She was at work after all so he wouldn't be surprised by it.

Some surprise moved over Kiera's face as he motioned to the seat across to him and offered for her to sit across from him. She had never had a customer want to sit and talk to her.... Well unless it was someone trying to hit on her or act like a creep. But that wasn't what was happening now. No he truly just wanted her to sit down and vent. Why? Perhaps only to allow himself to take his mind off of what he was stressed about?

Kiera glanced over the restaurant for a moment. Dominic was her only table right now and the place was pretty much dead. Although she knew it probably wasn't the best idea, Kiera took in a deep breath and sat down across from him anyways. She set her notepad and pen down on the table in front of her before folding her hands and putting them in her lap. Already she was beginning to feel a little nervous, though part of her felt like it might be nice to vent to someone. Someone who didn't know her intimately like everyone else she had told.

"I didn't get the financial aid I needed to finish up the last year of my degree." Kiera told him softly. "Every other year, they accepted me, even gave me more than I needed but.... this time I didn't make the cut and I do not think I'll be able to go without it. I kept trying to figure out ways to work more and go to school but either there is not enough hours in the day or not enough money. I just... really wanted to finish."

A fleck of surprise washed over Dominic as he watched Kiera actually take the seat across from him. To be honest, he wasn't expecting her to do so. She seemed to like too much of a goody-two-shoes to allow herself to sit while on the job. Now normally, if Dom caught someone slacking when they were dead, he wouldn't care but. He wasn't boss here, so his opinion didn't matter one fucking bit.

Sitting up a little straighter, Dom rested his arms on the table and crossed then as he leaned forward. Paying attention to Kiera as she spoke. Confusion filled him as he frowned slightly and slowly tilted his head to the side. "That doesn't sound right." He murmured quietly, his head slowly shaking. "An it's your last year?" He repeated, making sure that he had heard her correctly. His eyebrows rising in surprise, both because of her situation and because he honestly thought she was straight out of high school.

Leaning back, Dominic was just going to give her some sort of pitty reply. Tell her that he was sorry and that it sucked, but. This just might be a good opportunity. This could be a way to get out of the shithole he was stuck in. Taking in a deep breath, Dom sat up a little bit straighter before moving forward so that he could speak in a slightly lower tone. He didn't need people spreading that this was fake before it even began. "Marry me." He straight up told her, a small smirk playing across his lips. Then, seeing her starting to freak out, Dom raised a hand to silence her as he continued to speak. "A month, that'll all. I'll pay you fifteen grand a week. Then, we can settle things quietly, say we had differences. That should cover both of our problems." Dom then motioned with his hand that she could now speak, and got ready for Kiera to freak out on him.

"Yes, it is my last year," Kiera told him a bit sadly. "I just... I don't know what happened. My situation didn't change much from the last few years but they are saying that they can't assist me this year. I just don't know what to do, I don't think there is anything I really can do." The woman slowly ran a hand through her hair, unable to hide the disappointment that was coming over her face. She had been excited to get her degree and go into a field that was she was really passionate about. One that she could make a lot more money than just waitressing.

Kiera was about to let out a small sigh though she quickly lost her breath once Dominic told her to marry him. Her eyes shot up, her body tensing. Though before she could even respond to the man, he was telling her to wait to hear more. Though as he continued on, all that happened was fill her with more confusion. He would pay her? And he only wanted to be married for a month? What the Hell was going on!

Part of Kiera wanted really start to freak out, which she was already doing internally. Though when Dominic seemed to be done talking, the first thing she did was take a deep breath in an attempt to calm down. It did not work. "I don't understand-" Kiera stopped herself as she realized that she was talking much too loudly. So she took another breath and started to speak softer like he had been doing before. "I don't understand, why the Hell would you want to marry me?" Kiera said as her leg started to bounce a bit from nervousness. "And why would you pay me? I.. What? What are you even trying to do? And what problem?"

As sad as it was, Dom kinda expected this sort of reaction from Kiera as he just dumped this steaming pot of bullshit onto her lap. It really wasn't her problem, yet. It was an easy solution that could easily help both of them out. As odd as it is. She'd get money, and he'd get the traitor off of his ass. The woman who he thought was his soulmate, turned wicked witch of the west. A phrase that Dom would never use to describe Melody before last week.

Slowly, Dominic ran his tongue over his dry lips as he listened to Kiera. His eyes slowly shifting around the restaurant. They were pretty much the only ones there besides the cooks, two other waitresses, and an elderly couple at the other end. So, surely it wouldn't really be a problem to explain the situation to Kiera here. Right? "My fiancee is going to try and steal all of my assets and make my company and myself bankrupt." He told her, knowing how ridiculous that probably sounds right about now. "If I had the possibility of breaking it off, I would, but I can't. I can't do with the negative press right now. Not when my company's on the edge of releasing something." Right as Dom finished speaking, his shoulders sagged in defeat.

Raising his right hand, Dom ran his fingers through his short hair as he looked towards Kiera. His head tilted sideways as he waited for the girl to soak everything in. "So, my problem in blatant terms, is that I have a golddigger trying to ruin me. You're unable to afford your last year of school. We can help each other out with this." Dom said as he straightened himself up. "I'm not asking for much Kiera, one month. Then, as I said, fifteen grand a week. That's sixty thousand that'll go into your bank account after the month. It's more than enough to pay for this year and some of your school loan debts." He knew he was hitting low with that, but he was kinda desperate. Melody wasn't someone he could just dump. He tried in the past, but she always managed to crawl right back into his bed.

"So, what do you say?" Dom asked, arching a brow as he let everything slowly sink in. "We'll be helping each other out. All I ask for during that time is that you stay at my place a couple of days a week. You'll have your own room of course" He made sure that part was clear. "As well as talk about how in love we are if asked."

Kiera closed her eyes tightly as Dominic was starting to explain everything to her. This was all happening so fast and it sounded completely insane. It was completely insane to marry a fucking stranger for money... For the money that she was desperate for. Kiera rubbed her face, doing what she could to de-stress herself. At least his expectations weren't completely absurd. Stay at his house, pretend like they were in love. She would have her own room...

The woman shook her head a bit as she realized just how much she was considering the offer. "No, this is totally crazy.... I-" She took in a deep breath, her head lifting up but she looked away from him and out towards the rest of the restaurant. It was dead there. But even if was busy all day every day, she wouldn't have enough. Even if the tips were always 25%, she wouldn't have enough... Before this, Kiera had no chance of finishing college and now it seemed that this man had dropped from heaven and was giving her an opportunity to pay for her college in a month.

She looked back at Dominic for a long moment. The man wasn't a complete stranger. While she didn't know him that well, she knew Dominic from the diner. He was always nice, always tipped well... The waitresses often argued over who would get his table. And it sounded like he was in a situation as well. Dominic had issues with an ex, she had issues with college. It sounded like they could both help each other out and be done by the end of the month.

"I am not sleeping with you," Kiera whispered point-blank to him, wanting to make that as clear as possible. "I'll pretend like we're in love and stay at your place. Though you need to give me half of the money up front. I am not risking you bailing out at the end of it cause you got what you wanted."

For the first time in many years, Dominic could feel himself slowly becoming nervous. There was a very high chance that Kiera would turn him down. That she'd go and say that he was a creep or something, then call the cops. She could outright laugh at him, and then tell all of the other workers here about how he had asked her to marry him and that he'd pay her. Well, the last idea was a far off idea. Kiera seemed too nice for that, but she was at work. And who knows what she's like when she's off of the clock.

Then, when she looked back at him, a surprised look appeared on Dom's face. "That... never crossed my mind, but okay." He murmured quietly. His eyes a little wide in shock for a moment before relaxing as a small smile slowly started to grace his lips. She was agreeing to his odd request for her. Kiera was an angel. "That sounds fine, but you have to meet me at the courthouse and sign the papers first," Dom said and then started to reach down to his pants to pull out his wallet to pay for his coffee. "When do you get off work? I'll pick you up and we can get things started at the courthouse." Bringing out his wallet, Dom placed a fifty down on the table for his coffee and for Kiera's tip.

Standing up, Dominic placed his wallet back into his pocket and then turned towards the table. His hands moving to rest against the table as he leaned forward. Making it seem like they're having a sort of intimate conversation. "Oh, and change into something nice." Dom offered Kiera a small wink before he stood up straight and then headed out. He needed to get back to work and as he walked, it felt like a whole lot of stress had been taken off of his shoulders.

Before Dominic left, Kiera gave the man her phone number, an address and what time he could come pick her up. As she watched him walk out of the door, all she could think was how insane all of this sounded. Just like that she was being convinced to marry this stranger for a boat load of money. Though even long after he was gone, Kiera couldn't help but somehow think that this was the right thing to do. It was totally out of this world crazy but... well she needed the money and he seemed like he needed the help. And since it was clear that she wasn't going to fuck him.... Well how bad could the month possibly be?

After an hour, Kiera decided that she couldn't handle waitressing the rest of her shift with what was going on. So she headed home early after convincing the lead that she wasn't feeling very well. And, once she was home, Kiera spent the time getting ready for what was going to be her courthouse wedding. She didn't have anything like a wedding dress, though Kiera did have a cute dress that she was hoping would be appropriate enough.

Soon enough, the young woman was dressed, makeup and hair done. As well as have everything she would need in order to get married at the courthouse. And once she got the message from Dominic, she made her way towards the front of the apartment building to meet him.

As strange as it was, Dominic felt butterflies in his stomach. He was anxious about this whole thing. It was a huge gamble, he barely knew Kiera besides at the diner. For all he knew, she could take pictures of his place and then sell private information of his life on the internet like one of those stalkers he had a couple of years ago when he was on Forbes list for most eligible bachelors. Maybe he should have asked one of his girlfriends, someone, he'd known for a longer time. Except, this idea just came out of the blue and for some stupid reason Dom let it slip out of his mouth.

Glancing up, Dom didn't get to finish his thoughts as he saw his bride to be exiting her apartment. A small smile spreading upon his lips. "Hey." Dom greeted Kiera, standing up from where he was leaning against the passenger door of his car. "You look really nice," Dom said as he moved to the side and held the door open for Kiera and then closed the door for her before getting into the driver's side. "Check the glove box," Dom said as soon as he was buckled in and started to drive away from the building. His eyes glancing around to see if he was being followed for a moment before continuing to drive. The check for the first half of the month was in there.

"Something I tend to do with my girls is resting my hand on their lower backs as we walk. Are you cool with that?" Dominic asked as he glanced at Kiera through the corner of his eye as he drove. "What are no-gos for you? I want to make sure you're not uncomfortable in this arrangement." Dom said, trying to be considerate to the younger girl.

"Hi," Kiera said warmly as she walked up to him. She smiled gently at him as he complemented how she looked. It was a good thing that he thought she looked appropriate for this marriage. There was some worry that the outfit wouldn't be quite right. But it seemed that was not the case and that was all the reassurance she needed on that. After all, her mind was worried about others things. Like the fact that she was getting married to a complete stranger. And what kind of trouble she might unknowingly be getting herself into.

As he opened up the door, Kiera slide into the car and relaxed back into the car. She took in a deep breath and let it out as a sigh before Dominic managed to get around the car and get into the driver's seat. Kiera didn't really want him to see how nervous he was about all of this. Or, in the least, she didn't want him to be freaking out because she was freaking out. Despite her worries though, something in her said that this was the right decision to make.

Once he was back in the car, Kiera checked the glove box like he told her too. In there, she saw the check for half of the money that they agreed on. At least, he was keeping his deal to give her half up front. Kiera folded the check and put it in her purse. She would bring it into the bank tomorrow, to ensure that she would get the money that he had promised. But first, she had to get married.

"Yes, that is okay." Kiera responded to him. Though she then let out a hum when he asked her what her no-gos were with this deal they had made. "I don't know, I never had to think about this before." The woman said softly. She glanced off to the side for a moment, trying to think it over but her nose wrinkled a bit. "I mean there are some things we would have to do to make people think that this is real right? I wouldn't want people getting suspicious cause then what was the point.... Like, we're probably going to have to kiss at some point, don't you figure?" She looked at him. "So I guess I am okay with a quick or light kiss. But nothing more than that? What do you think?"

A small chuckle escaped from Dominic as he listened to Kiera speak. She was such a soft-spoken girl, it was adorable. "Me neither." He mused quietly, speaking about the fact that he'd never had to think about what to do in a fake relationship much less a fake marriage. It was an odd thing to find themselves in, but they were both getting something that they need. He was getting Melody off of his back and she was getting money for school. It was a win-win situation, right?

"Seems understandable, people are going to want to see intimacy to some degree while we're out in public," Dom added on, his head nodding ever so slightly as he concentrated on driving. "I'll take you on a couple of dates and a few business dinners as well if that's alright?" Dom asked, glancing over towards Kiara for a moment. "Holding hands seems a little childish, but there's that or holding onto my arm?" Dom shrugged his shoulders. "As I said earlier though, I usually just rest my hand on my girl's lower backs when we're out walking anywhere. Hmm" He couldn't really think of anything else to add on, but it was fine for now. It's not like they needed things ironed out right away.

Pulling up to the courthouse, Dom pulled into a parking spot before turning towards Kiera. "You ready?" Dominic asked, and waited for Kiera's reply before slowly exiting the car and moving towards her side. Opening the passenger side door, Dom reached a hand out to help Kiera out like a gentleman and then true to his word. He slowly placed his hand on her lower back and started to lead her towards the courthouse. As they walked, Dominic's posture straightened, he started to eradicate an aura of confidence and cunning, like the thoroughbred that he was bred to be. Fast, strong, and smart. He was the CEO of a mega tech company.

"I think we might just have to figure it out as we go." Kiera told him, honestly. It was hard to say what the two of them were going to need to do in order to keep the ruse up. Though Kiera did want to keep her end of the bargain and make this fake marriage look as real as possible. Besides, it wasn't like they were going to have to go too far when out in public. And no one was going to be watching them at home or sneaking about. The two of them would look close and would need to get used to being close. It was only lasting for a month so Kiera figured that it wouldn't get all that bad.

"Yes, that is okay. Sounds like it can be fun." She joked warmly. Though she had no idea what Dominic would consider a fun date but hopefully it was something that they both could enjoy. Though the business dinners, Kiera was just going to have to be on her best behavior. Maybe even up the charm if he wanted her to try and get whoever it was to like them more. But it didn't sound like anything she couldn't handle. "Also, I don't think holding hands is childish but I don't mind holding onto your arm instead."

Once they arrived to the courthouse, the nervousness that Kiera had managed to ease out came it's way back into her chest. It really shouldn't be all that nerve-wracking. After all, there wouldn't be a large crowd... and Dominic knew what was going on. They weren't tricking each other. But that didn't change the fact that getting married, even for a month, was a huge step. Though soon the man was in front of her and Kiera was laying her hand onto his as she got out of the car. And once his hand was on her back, she stepped into his side and followed him into the courthouse. The young woman could feel him straightening up and she did her best to copy his food posture.

"Who are our witnesses?" Kiera whispered to him.

Slowly sliding his gaze down towards the young woman on his arm, Dominic listened to Kiera's question before looking up once more. "My younger sister for my side and I asked for one of my close friends to act like yours," Dom told her. They didn't legally need a whole courthouse. Just a person on each side, thankfully. "I'm sorry that we didn't get anyone that you actually know to come," Dom murmured quietly as he held the door open. "I'll make it up to you."

Walking into the courthouse, Dom led Kiera through the security area. They got scanned for any weapons and then were directed towards where they could wait. "Kiera, I'd like for you to meet my sister, Veronica," Dom said as he saw his younger sister standing in the waiting area, looking like she was annoying his friend. "And this is Jack," Dom said as he motioned towards his friend who would be standing in for Kiera's side. "They both know," Dom whispered as he leaned down to whisper in her ear. Then, standing up straight, Dom smiled lightly as the three delved into a light conversation. A small smile playing along his lips.

By the time the four of them were allowed into the courtroom, it felt like this would be a good match. Kiera was kind, and his sister didn't seem to be getting on her nerves. Which, was coming for sixteen-year-olds. "Ready?" Dominic asked as he glanced towards Kiera, ready to head in and sign the piece of paper that'll tell the world that they promise to love each other through sickness and in health. To officiate their love for each other.

"It's okay," Kiera whispered back as he mentioned that his friend would be her witness. It didn't really matter that much who was going to be witnessing the ceremony considering the fact that this was all fact. Besides, Kiera wasn't sure who she could tell this story to and ask to be a witness for her so last minute. She was rather sure that anyone she could ask would tell her that she was crazy and not to do it... Which was fair, this was kinda crazy. Well, it was more insanity but Kiera knew that it could really be worth it. All she wanted to do was finish up her last year of college and a month of fake dating wouldn't be that bad, surely.

"Hello, it's nice to meet you both," Kiera said warmly to the two. She glanced over at Jack for a moment, just wanting to know who was going to be standing on her side of the ceremony. Though then her eyes landed on Veronica, wondering how Dominic's younger sister was dealing with all of this. Was she okay with it? It was hard to tell. Though they all seemed nice enough as they talked airly about this and that. Kiera didn't say too much though, a little bit too nervous about everything to really be paying attention to the conversation that was occurring.

"I'm ready," Kiera responded as they headed into the courthouse. She took a deep breath before they walked in and soon enough they were in front of the officiant. He set the certificate down in front of both of them. Dominic signed first before Kiera got the pen and signed as well. Once the officiant glanced it over and deemed it ready, he moved in front of both of them, a bright smile on his face. It was clear he thought that this was their 'happy day'. So the man started to talk, saying that they were gathered here today to join this man and this woman... and he continued on like that.

To be honest, Dominic wasn't really that much of a fan of weddings. There was just so much planning for them, and money that was being needlessly thrown around. So, to have a courthouse wedding was completely fine with him. They could just get done within an hour max. Less money being spent, minimal planning for this supposedly special occasion. Then, they could all get back to their normal lives. Like nothing really even happaned. A couple of 'I do's' and boom that was it.

As the officiant said that they could kiss, Dominic took that as his cue to start his acting of a caring husband to start. Offering Kiera a small smile as he reached out with his right hand and lightly cuffed her cheek. His thumb lightly brushed against her cheekbone for a moment before Dom started to lean forward. His eyes closing as he lightly brushed his lips against hers in a feathery light kiss. Then pressed them against hers in an actual kiss, his hand holding her in place as he moved his lips against hers slowly before he pulled away and looked into Kiera's eyes. The marriage was sealed, they were now connected by a paper and the eyes of a supposed god who was watching over them.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife, congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Opal." The man said and then said some more things before dismissing the couple and their witnesses. Dom's hand slowly moved from Kiera's cheek to down her back and wrapping around her side to slowly pull her along as he led her out of the courtroom with his sister and friend following along. "The reservations have been set and Duke agreed." Jack murmured quietly as the four left the courthouse. "Good, make sure he doesn't do something stupid and actually hides," Dom murmured as he left Jack and Veronica to lead Kiera towards his car once more. "Now, it's time for our first public dinner."

When it came time for Dominic to kiss her, Kiera was quick to follow his lead. She didn't know what he wanted in that moment, considering the two witnesses knew the truth of their situation. But even so, she smiled up at the man, her eyes soft as she looked at him. Feeling his hand against her cheek, Kiera leaned her head into it for a moment. At least, until Dominic leaned down and brushed his lips against hers. She lightly did the same to him until he gave her a full kiss. Kiera shifted in closer to him as she laid her hand on his chest kissing him back. As he pulled away, she moved back onto her heels, her eyes fluttering up at him. Like she was so overjoyed to have married the man she loved.

Her hand slid down from his chest as Dominic wrapped an arm around her. Kiera stepped into his side, staying close to him as her hand reached behind him and rubbed his back. She followed as he lead her out of the room. Though as they stepped out of the courthouse, she leaned up and pressed a kiss against his cheek. Just in case anyone was watching. If he wanted it to seem real in the courthouse with only three people around, it seemed time to really start acting the part. "That sounds lovely."

They were able to get to the car easily and she slid in once her now husband opened the door for her. When the door closed, she took another deep breath before letting it out. Well, it was official now. They were married. He was her husband... at least for the next month. When he came into the car, Kiera turned her head and smiled at him warmly. "Who is Duke?" She asked him, her voice soft so no one outside of the car could hear them.
