JACKSON
Somethings never change in this town, the was the constantly feeling Jackson felt. Yes, he did love his town and couldn’t really see him moving somewhere else. It just plain and boring with knowing everyone in this small town. But that was the price of living in a small town and quite frankly there was nothing he could or would do about it. That morning when his alarm began ringing at 5 ‘o’ clock on the dot, Jackson reached up, quickly hitting the snooze button. You would think that after this being a daily routine for so many years that his body would be used to this, however, that was not the case for him. After hitting the snooze button for a good time or two, the young cowboy finally climbed out of bed. Once his feet hit the floor, Jackson wasted no time in getting ready for the day. That was a usual routine as well - shower, tooth brushing, dressing in a shirt and work jeans along with boots, and finishing up with running his finger through his hair and placing a cowboy hat on his head. Ready to take on the day that lied ahead, Jackson made his way downstairs into the kitchen. A small smile appeared on his face as he saw the coffee pot brewing. If it wasn’t for coffee, Jackson knew that he would not be able to function correctly. Stepping up to the pot, Jackson quickly reached up in the cupboard, grabbing a mug. Pouring himself the cup, Jackson took his first sip of the warm liquid, letting the good cup of Joe soothe down his throat. Not letting another minute waste, Jackson carried his cup out to the barn, starting his morning routine. He knew his older brother, Levi, would have already started on some of the chores.
About two hours later, when things were settled around the house, Jackson finally made his way up to the store, knowing that his mama would already be up there. Strolling in through the store’s front door, he smirked brightly as he sees his mama at the counter. He nods to her, going straight to the back to get some of the inventory started. He began to go through what stock they had before glancing over the list of new inventory that they just got the day before, knowing that another shipment would be coming in later that morning. He kept up with this for a while until it was time to delegate this task to one of the few extra hands that would come in. It wasn’t all the time that they would have the extra help, but when they did, the Millers definitely would take it - just never expect it. Making his way into the store, Jackson made his way behind the counter as he started greeting some of the customers and other individuals as they came in.
Like his usual self, Jackson would help anyone who came into the store. Making the usual, average conversations with some of the regulars, Jackson went to check on some items for certain customers then took care of business with them. He even got caught up on the lock town gossip, some of the latest being his older brother's ex was back in town, which meant Levi didn't know yet or just wasn't going to accept it until he physically ran into her. Creating small talk with the folks who asked him, Jackson didn't have much to say, but boy was he ready to see his brother's ex if that was the case.
Once the regulars were taken care of, Jackson went back to restocking the store, looking over inventory, and handling a very more deliveries that they had received that morning as well.
HAILEY
Back Home - two words Hailey thought she would never catch herself saying. She truly thought that once she was out, she would be out forever. A small sigh escaped her lips as she came up on the small town’s welcome sign. Many memories came back flooding her mind as she drove down Main Street, seeing what things hadn’t changed and what little changed had actually happened. She knew that this small town would always have its ways that it was set in and nothing was going to change them. Driving down the town, she glanced out her window as she drove by, noticing the very familiar named shops and others buildings that made their small town. How long had it exactly been since she was last here? A good couple of years or so for sure. At least since the last time her father had gotten remarried and that had been easily 3 year ago. Taking a right turn off of the main street, Hailey drove into a parking lot, looking up to the apartment building complex that she had found right off the main street. This was happening and she was really okay with it - this was much needed. Stepping out of her Ford Explorer, Hailey opened the back of the SUV, looking at all the boxes she had managed to stuff into her vehicle. She reached back for a file folder she had in her laptop case.
“You know this was the best thing for you.’ She reminded herself as she closed the hatch. Walking into the apartment complex office, she went to have a small chat with the manager before going back to her SUV. Driving around to the correct apartment building along with parking in her specific spot. Opening her hatch back open once more, Hailey picked up a coupe of bags before making her way to her apartment. Upon reaching the door, she stuck the key into the keyhole, turning the key before pushing the door open. Allowing the door to open all the way, Hailey peeked in. “Home Sweet Home.” She spoke softly Stepping inside, she placed the bags onto the floor before going to inspect the apartment. It was honestly perfect.
A good couple of hours was spent unloading her SUV, knowing that her others belongings would be coming tomorrow via a moving truck. Which she was more than okay with, considering she was already feeling slightly overwhelmed with being back in her hometown. Once she had everything either placed somewhere or at least in the general area where it was going to be set up, Hailey went to grab her phone. Of course she had a million texts from friends back in the City who wanted to know if she was okay, did she make it, how long was she going to be gone, and was she ever planning to come back. She sighed, deciding she would answer those texts later. Looking to check the time, Hailey realized she had tons of time to kill. She had already met with the Hospital she was working at; however, she thought a nice little stroll down the town would help her come to more terms with being back home. Making her way into town once more, Hailey made her way downtown, before getting back in to go check out some of the old places she used to go, along with driving by her old ex’s family’s house knowing good and well that it would be a great condition and that they family was still living there. As she drove down the country road, Hailey knew that her SUV would be able to handle these roads, so nothing could go wrong…right? That was until she went to drive by the Miller’s place when she drove in some mud, managing to actually get her SUV stuck. “What the -“ She stopped herself, realizing she had hit the muddy, muggy, swampy part of this road. “Dammit!” She yelled out of her frustration as she got out of the vehicle. It hadn’t even hit her on whose house she was practically in front of.
