The Ending

  • I'm hugely probable to do bittersweet endings.
I love the idea of nothing being perfect because it sticks true to life. You have the good and the bad, I don't like to leave my characters fully satisfied. They have achieved their goals, but gained scars along the way.
In the My Personal Stalker Trilogy, I'm writing Charlie is put through the wringer.
First book- A lot of death, his potential first love dies, his house explodes, he's kidnapped, watches someone get shot and die before him, and after all that, he's informed that his father dies in the very last chapter on the very last scene.

Second book- He finds a new side of himself(being bisexual) while reliving inner demons through an ex bully/lover, secrets are held from him, and the end when everything is sold, he's betrayed in the worst way possible.

Third book- Haven't written yet, but it'll be even worse

  • Usually depressingly but with some closure.
One of my stories has a twist ending.
The ending to my three-and-two shot series is happier than I usually write.

  • Well, I've never actually stuck with a story long enough to end it. I have a tendency to get un-interested in what I'm writing and delete stories when they're either half-way through or almost finished... Facepalm

But I guess it varies on the story. Like my Frerard suicide fic has a sad ending. And the endings to a lot of my one-shots are either bittersweet or heartbreaking. (And I have no idea why... Think ) Although, a few do end on a happy note.

  • THE REAL QUESTION, IS WHERE OR NOT I ACTUALLY GET TO THE ENDING AND NOT GIVE UP HALF WAY THROUGH.

Nah, I tend to leave off with open endings. Like, usually in a story when it ends, you sort of just picture their entire life ending right there. I like writing endings where you know that life keeps going on after the story is finished. But most of the ends are tied up, just how the characters live afterwards can be up to anyone interpretations.

That's usually only in character based stories.

Otherwise, I'll admit, I'm a sucker for happy endings. C'mon, they're just so much more fun and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and hopeful inside when I read them.

  • I'm actually having a lot of trouble with ending one of my current projects. First of all I don't really want to end it, but neither do I want it to go on forever. Second, I can't figure out how to end it. It's about unrequited love, and I kinda want it to end at least bittersweet if not happy, but I can't figure out how to realistically make that happen. Think

  • The only story I've ever finished was where I ended up with a sort of cliffhanger, and it was all heartbreak and misery. So I made a sequel, and it was sort of a weird kind of happy.

I never really get to the endings, I give up after the second chapter, or the tenth. It's pathetic, but my fire burns out.

  • I enjoy sad to bittersweet endings. Happy endings are ok, but they seem sort of boring. I don't write romance usually, so if there is a guy and a girl in the story, assume I am not going to pair them in the ending. One of the stories I have now ends fairly happily, and then gets a cliffhanger in epilogue.

  • I actually tend to end my stories in epilogues... I'm not quite sure why.

Edit: After much thought, I've realized that while I end my story in epilogues, I don't really do traditional epilogues. Mine are more moment-in time-after-story-ended-that-shows-you-where-characters-are-but-doesn't-offer-any-further-explanation epilogues. XD Not the kind where it tells you exactly what happened for the rest of character's life.

  • Sad endings. And cliffhangers.

I don't seem to be capable of writing happy ones. Shifty

  • I can't write endings to save my life. They always end up terribly cheesy like in I Can't Hang, vague and odd like in Say It Like You Mean It! and The Mighty Mosh, or just plain stupid, which I've done in too many stories to count. I just can't bring myself to write a sad ending, though. XD
And it's taken me a few years to dawn on me, but I just realized that every story in the Renny Boy series ends with a Plaster Caster performance. Shifty

  • I usually have pretty open endings, and I usually stick some kind of hopeful twist on things that the narrator realizes or something. Otherwise it's bittersweet. I hate sad endings that make me feel like shit, and I hate unrealistically happy endings. I try to find a happy medium.

  • I usually write happy endings. I'm a real sucker for them, and everything must go right for my characters. Although lately, I've had quite a few ideas for the detective-y type series I plan on writing, and one of the endings for that is going to be pretty depressing, so maybe that'll change *shrugs*

  • It depends on the story, but usually I end it with the conflict being over, but the characters are all torn up with it. I like making the reader wonder if something's going to happen next. Or want more. Blah.

  • I like happy endings, but I love writing dark endings because I find it easier to actually finish. Happy endings are hard for me to write because they're usually soppy and gross and ew no Alex stop. If anything though, I like to write endings where the reader is left feeling hopeful, but try to make it realistic at the same time. I'm all about the realism these days.

Also, I tend to get torn quickly between characters, because there are some couples I've created that I ship hard, and breaking them up would be a crime within itself (and will also break my heart which I'm not prepared to do).

  • When eventually I finish a piece, I'll end it on a cliffhanger and not write a sequel because I'm a firm believer in imagination and I'm a douche like that, yes and I would want to see what happened next in the minds of my readers.

  • Most of my endings are happy. Life is sad enough without sad endings XD
