Amira looked around her new apartment. It was bare for the most part, but it had a bed and a kitchen. It was enough for her to get her fresh start. There was the fear that her ex-boyfriend was going to find her. But that was why she chose this city. She didn’t know anyone here, there were a lot of people in this city, and she didn’t tell anyone she was moving here. Amira hoped that alone would be enough to protect her, but she wasn’t completely assured by it. She just wanted to focus on what was right in front of her at the moment. Like trying to get her apartment somewhat organized. She really didn’t have much, just some clothes, her new phone, and new computer. She didn’t want to run the risk of being tracked down.

Amira just hoped that her neighbors were nice or at the least quiet. She didn’t really think that she would make friends with them, but she did want them to be at least friendly enough that they didn’t hate each other. Maybe it was because she was just wanting a kind face around or a someone who would be willing to show her some kindness. Though it was mostly hopeful thoughts. She would be fine if she didn’t have to listen to yelling everyday.

Matt walked into his office thirty minutes later than normal, heading to his seat in the memorized manner that he always went. He leaned his cane against the wall behind his desk as he sat down. He had the sense that he knew what was around him at all times, but he knew that people could be watching him. It was easier to appear like an average person and not the Daredevil that he actually was. He put his hands out on top of his desk and felt the papers there. He could feel the bumps and ridges from braille marks. He was curious as to what was in for the day’s business. He could never tell if it was going to be a slow day or a busy day.

“Morning,” one of the other lawyers in the office called out. Matt gave out a quick greeting back as he tried to read through the pile of paperwork that was on his desk, knowing that his assistant always put the day’s plans on the top sheet for him in the morning. Something that he hadn’t had to ask her to do, and honestly he was thankful for. The sheet had been her idea, and it had stuck because it worked for him. He knew when he had to get things done and when things would be slow.
