Oh yes. Since I didn't find a topic on it, I felt like adding it in to the mix.

Anyway, what's your opinion? Do they exist? Are they here?

In my opinion, I believe that there has to be other lifeforms out there. The universe is infinately huge so we can't be the only planet with intelligent...(!)...life.

    Discuss.

It's extremely narcissistic to think that we're the only life in an infinite universe.
So, yes, I believe in aliens.
[I wonder if aliens believe in us . . .]

    I believe there is something.
But of course alot of people don't believe in them because of religion, that God created us and only us.

I do believe in aliens, but only to a certain extent.
I do not think that they are skeletal creatures with webbed fingers and mystical powers, though.

I think there's something else but I agree with the above.

    That's such a caricature.
    They're life forms so...

I'm sure there's life on other planets. It's incredibly narrow minded to think that we're the only living things. The universe is massive, there's bound to be others out there.
I don't believe in those slimy green things with five eyes and stuff though.

I believe in aliens. All these galaxies and planets out there have to have something on it. Why else would it be there?

I don't want to get anyone mad at me, but when you say you believe in something out there then saying you're not sure if they are aliens is kind of...cancelling the statement out.
I know there's a better word, but I can't think of it so I'll say this:

All 'alien' means is something not know to us [humans].

Yeah, of course other life forms exist beyond us. It would be dumb to think that we're the only living things in the whole, big universe...

The universe is massive, it would probably take NASA some time to get around our own wee square of it, never mind searching for other lifeforms.
But I do believe in aliens, just not the type like E.T.

    Yeah.
It's a really easy feat searching for life in an infinite universe.

I think that the proper term for this topic should be extraterrestrial because alien can mean many other things. :shifty

    Anyways...

An "alien" does not have to be in a human-like shape or form. A peice of bateria from Mars is considered to be extraterrestrial. Any living thing unknown to the planet earth is an alien. So do I believe in bacteria and cells on other planets? Yes. Do I believe in intelligent life in a human-like shape? No. And my view on that may seem incredibly closed-minded but my logic makes sense.

I believe that God created us then let us evolve. Now. Earth was his only creation that he gave the opportunity to grow. At least into something intellectual. And he made the other planets for himself. Just to marvel at them.

Meh. It makes more sense in my mind.

I believe the only people I've heard say,
"One in a million chances happen nine times out of ten"
have been fiction authors such as Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams.

The chance of us existing, in the state [or beyond] as we are now, are ridiculously smal. Our existance is so very very highly improbable. We take it for granted, but it's true.

For the conditions to have arisen as they had ... and changed for our evolution as they have ...

    It seems like we're either
    1) Complete chance,
    or 2) Divinely inspired.

o.O I thought it was expanding..
    The universe is everything.
    And everything is everything.
    There's nothing beyond it.
So wouldn't that make it infinite?

The Universe is ... what's everything?
The Universe seems to be everything we know.
But what colour is it beyond the edge of the Universe?
Surely if it's expanding it must be expanding into something ... some sort of ... space.
But then what is beyond that. How can reality get bigger.
What does it mean when there is more of everything?

Well, if you have a dozen cookies and you make a dozen more then you still have more cookies, right?
    It's just bigger.

The Universe is defined as the summation of all particles and energy that exist and the space-time in which all events occur.

But you make the second batch of cookies from ingredients. Things that exist beyond the level that cookies exist at.
I spose it makes sense from a religious POV *shrug*

Well, I mean everything is everything that exists.
And new babies are born everyday and they are now included in everything.
    Does that make more sense?
    Cookies was a bad analogy.
Everything gets bigger because things are constantly being taken away from everything [dying] and being added to everything [birth].
