This isn't the "Why I Wrote That Story" thread. This thread is for why you write in a specific type, genre, fandom, rating, pairing, or about any specific topic.

*Remember Mibba's rules on bashing and insulting. No attacking or insulting people who do or do not write on any specific topic.
I write slash for a few reasons:
    a) I find it much more sexually/romantically appealing.
    b) I find the emotions deeper.
    c) I like writing boys.
    d) I don't like writing sex scenes that involve vaginas.
    e) No need for OCs.

I don't write original fiction for a few reasons:
    a) I have difficulty creating a realistic OC.
    b) I have difficulty explaining the way someone looks well.

I write fanfiction for the above reasons plus these:
    a) I love the people I write about. Why wouldn't I want to make them characters?
    b) It's what my brain tells me to write. Seriously.

I write fanfiction because I find those pairings. The way the people act and stuff kind of stays in my brain and my brain puts them into scenarios. Kind of like What Ifs running constantly in and out.

    Why I write slash:
    - Because I never felt comfortable writing women as main love interests.
    - I find it more sexually appealing
    - I can come up with better storylines with slash.
    - When I started writing in MCR, I never felt comfortable using there girlfriends and I never liked making OCs, so I just decided to pair them with eachother.

    Why I write for MCR/FinalFantasy
    - Their music inspires me to write, so why not use them?
-I write for Final Fantasy because, well, I used to like this guy who Had a Reno theme at a gaming site so I made a cloud theme. Thus started the love for the pairing Cleno. Which is really the only pairing I am willing to write for that fandom.

Why I don't like wirting origina?
-Because I can never think of cool names.

I write OC fics because I can make up whatever I want about the character. Every little detail is made by me. When I write Green Day fics, I have to go around what Green Day are like. But for OC fics, you can write whatever you want.

    I write because:

    a) it keeps my head from exploding.
    b) it's one way of letting people know how I feel
    c) it's how I cope with certain things in my life
    d) blah blah blah, every other reason

I only write OC fics because:

    a) I can do absolutely anything with them without it being too far fetched.
    b) I feel uncomfortable writing fanfics.
    c) It's easier for me to expand writing styles.
    d) I just love it.

    An OC=original character.
    Not necessarily originally fiction.

I write fanfic because I like seeing how far I can stretch a personality...
Also because I feel that this way, we could have some type of insight [even if it's fictional] of what they're actually like off-screen/stage/radio etc.

I write het because I relate to it better. I write slash because it 1 - makes my beta happy and 2 - because it's more attractive.

    Why I write original stories:
    a) The story lines come easier to me.
    b) No one will yell at me when I do something with a character/story.
    c) I love making up characters.
    d) I find when I write original stories that they are more believable.

Why I don't write fanfiction anymore:
    a) I feel the need to get everything right about the real person - looks, personality, background.
    b) I just don't feel right writing them. It feels like I'm taking someone else's "creation".

    Why I don't write slash:
    a) I can never think of a good story line that isn't cliche.
    b) I don't think I could ever make it believable.

    Why I write het:
    a) It's a lot easier for me to write.
    b) I can relate to it more.

    Original Character fiction.
OC fiction could be fanfiction with an OC too, though.
Not that I particularly care for the term 'original fic'.
    It's better than 'purefic' though.

    Why I write Original Fiction:
    - I get to create a character. And I seem to be good at that.
    - I find it gives me a huge area of writing to do whatever the fuck. I could write about aliens turning the world into cheese or a romantic love story.
    - I just like original fiction

    Why I don't write fanfiction:
    - I seriously never pay that much attention to rockstars. I would probaly ruin the story by describing them wrong.
    - I suck at it. I've written a short tiny one that I hated. I'll keep the fanfiction to authors who know what they're doing.
    - My brain is too small and explodes trying to think of a non cliche' plot line for it. ._.

    My reasons totally suck. >.>

    I don't write fan-fiction because:
-I have a hard time keeping the traits of the characters straight
-I have a hard time with sticking to pre-made characters' personalities
-I feel unoriginal when I write fan-fiction (just a personal feeling)

    I write original fiction because:
-I like to create characters from my head
-I can make my characters look any way I want and not hear beef from people about changing appearances
-I can write whatever background on my characters I like (I can make them have any disorder, financial situations, family problems I want, b/c they're mine.)
-I like knowing that, when I'm done, everything I just created is fully and entirely mine.

    I write because:
-When I don't, I get funny in the head
-I like to see what ways I can transfer a picture from my head into words
-I love when I write something I like, and people love it back.

    I write AU because:
+ It's always interesting to take people to places they would never be.
+ I like to write about people who don't seem to have a voice in typical fanfiction [Trying to Be & Billie Jo].
    + It's like "original" fanfiction.
    + It's more fun.

...I don't really think there is something that I wouldn't write.
Well, of course there are SOME things I wouldn't write, but...those are kinda obvious. I like writing het and slash and fanfiction and fiction.

I like writing heterosexual fiction because...I actually don't have a real reason to write it. Because it's a challenge for me.

I like writing slash because it isn't a challenge for me. I don't know how that worked out. And it can be amazing if written the write way.

I like writing original fiction because that is completely me. All of it. And it makes me like myself in a weird sense.

    I write fanfiction because:
    I enjoy it.
The character's are pretty much ready made.
It's easier to come up with ideas of what can happen in certain scene's ect.

    I don't write slash because:
I don't feel comfortable in writing stories about people who are indeed straight - though I have done it once, but I wasn't comfortable in doing it.

    I write fan-fiction because:
People know what the charcters look like
    I find it easier
People read/comment more on fan fics than they do on original fiction

    I write slash because
I find it easier than hetro/femmeslash
    I enjoy writing it

Agreed. AU just...as odd as it sounds, AU seems more natural to me. And its not as limited as sticking to facts. I mean yes, in certain AUs, I like to draw from facts such as the character's well, character and likes and dislikes. That sort of thing.

But if you apply all of that to scenarios outside of being in Hogwarts or being in a band or acting or whatever the hell it is, you open up so much and it does give you insight into these people. Or at least helps you think.

I write about gays/lesbians because I want people to know that treating them any differently is wrong. That's why I put semi-hidden morals into them.
