    Why I write original fiction:
    * I don't like writing sex scenes. At least serious ones.
... I didn't realize sex scenes were exclusive to fanfiction.
They're not. They're just more common in fan fiction.
    Now, that's not necessarily true.

    Ever read a romance novel?
I'm not saying in general, I'm saying on this site. There are a lot of similarities to fan fiction and romance novels though.
    Sly For example . . .

...and that's it? Slash is the only similarity between Fan-Fiction and Romantic Fiction? So ALL fan-fictions are slash and have unabashedly romantic sex scenes?

I write "moment in time" fanfiction because to me it is beautiful and very, very real.

I write original fiction because :

-I love creating characters. People are walking into my head all the time, and writing about them... well, it's fun. I've invented these people. Creation pride.

-There is a lot of fan fiction on this site, and I feel that it doesn't need me putting it out there as well when there are so many people writing it better than i probably would, hence original fiction. (The one fan fiction that i wrote, that was the first story i posted and was for a while the only story up here, was written because the beginning and the end came to me simultaneously, and i love the end. It makes me giggle to this day. It was quite fun, but it was cliche, and unless an absolutely wonderful idea appears in my head i won't be writing another one.)

-I've always made up stories. Fan fiction doesn't come naturally, but original fiction (of varying quality once it is written down, true,) is spilling out of my ears.

    So there you go.

    I write origional because:
-I love it when characters start walking around on their own
-I love it when a plot comes together
    -I couldn't not do it.

    I write dirty fanfiction because:
    -I'm a pervert
-and some characters just have to get together.

Right now, I write because the words make it better.

They don't understand the words, but I do.

Writing it all down makes it better.

I write slash because I'm more comfortable writing boys than girls. I also find it more attractive and appealing than het. And it just seems natural, for me anyways. It's easier for me to get into a story and be able to write it if it's slash.

I write original fiction because I love to create and make worlds for these characters that I think up. I'm always thinking about characters and stories in my head, so I love to try and portray these things on paper and here.

I write fan fiction because I love the people I write about and I love to write. Naturally, I put two and two together and got fan fiction as the answer. I just think it's a way to portray my creativity and show how much these people inspire me.

I write it because that's the way my mind works. If I didn't write, I'd make up stories in my mind and map them out anyways. If I didn't write fanfic, I'd be imagining that some of my OF characters were band members. I'd make up stories about them. I write OF because sometimes people just pop into my mind and I can't stop them. They start writing their own story and I just put it on paper.

My mind has equal servings of curiosity and imagination, so if I don't write something, I want to know what happens. I'll think about it before I go to bed and it will drive me insane.

In short, I write because I have to. I write to keep my sanity.

Same. I have to be creating something - pictures, prose, music, poetry, whatever - Or I feel like I've lost all purpose. I've always got a story going, and there's always plenty in my head that never make it to paper, often that I never tell anyone about, and I still have imaginary worlds even at my age - some of them are solidified in stories, some not. I'm addicted to writing. Funny sort of addiction, innit?

I write stories, generally, for three reasons.

    1.) I want to write.
As The Clock Strikes came about simply because I wanted to write a story.

    2.) I need to write.
Any therapy fic, The Nightmare Stories, Conversation in Dreamworld.

3.) I want to read stories like I write.
And I generally reread my stories because I've written something that I would like to read.

    I write when I can't cry.
I hate the term ''therapy fic'' because I don't believe in therapy, but more or less it's a kind of therapy, it's a way to let go of things. And there are things you just need to let go. I don't really have a person to go to with my thoughts, I don't believe that God or some higher being would want to listen to my worries or thoughts so I write them.

I write original fiction just because I need to write original fiction. I'm actually a big fan fiction reader, but I just think it's too creepy to put myself in the shoes of a person I admire and I'm self-absorbed enough to only write about and with myself. Also OF gives me more space to breathe, I don't have the most realistic writing style. Making someone famous my main would take away some of the effect, I want my character to be as anonymous as possible.

I write about love because I am a loving person and love is an important part of life. And it's fairly easy too. Just write about what you feel.

And I write original fiction because it's so much easier than fan fiction, you can make up a person and put your own experiences in and create an entire life, and with fanfiction-even AU-you feel as if you have limits.

I don't, either. I feel like I can love the characters no matter what I do with them.

Lately, I've been writing since I have a story in my head that won't go away. I know it won't until I get it all out on word.

I write original fiction because creating original characters is what I'm actually good at. I've never actually tried writing fanfiction though, so I might do it eventually.

I never feel like I have limits with fanfiction, which is why I have gotten so comfortable with it. It is like...my own little fantasy world with these dolls that I can mold into whoever I want. Part of me writing fanfiction was because I had a hard time thinking up stories if I didn't have a character name/appearance attached to the plot. I stuck with it for partly the same reason, but also because it is almost like a thrill for me. I haven't grown out of it yet, and I don't suppose I will for a while, though I am drifting towards OF.

I write because I have to. If I don't.. I'm useless, worthless. Not to mention bored. I wouldn't say I'm good in comparison to others on here but it's still my biggest strength. I intend to be good one day.

I write fanfics because I love the people who I write about. Their creativity of music inspires creativity in me. It may be a little odd but, ah, never mind. I can live with being weird. I try to do some OC characters and I hope to write OF at some point. Simply because I could share it with people in my life more then.

I write fanfiction because you are taking something (or, more, accurately, someone) that many are mystified by and creating a new, vulnerable side of it that characters can relate to and sympathize and empathize at the same time. It's actually a process that takes so much discipline--trying to bend something without breaking it. And, if it's a popular subject, making it extremely unique and your own requires a lot of inner strength that some original writers don't possess. And, quite frankly, fanfic is often harder.
