Writer's Block

  • I have writers block at the moment.
    It sucks.
I usually look over any lyrics... Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.
Also as a few people have said, I try and base some stories on my personal experiences..

  • On the bus to school with my headphones on, I listen to a lot of different kinds of music, so I take a minute and think about the lyrics, and eventually I have ideas just flooding for me to write down the first chance that I can.

  • School for some reason would give me a bit of help with writer's block. You're working anyway, and while waiting for the teacher your mind can become a bit more relaxed, so keep an extra notebook with you at all times.

Or just look at some art on deviantart. That gives me some inspiration at times. Or you can sit in front of the computer or a blank piece of paper, and just write until an idea pops into your head.

  • I also have one.
For me, my cure is - having a play-out.
Ya know, you act it out. I do that ><

Or sometimes I just read a book or sleep or
write a stupid, random story and then - I'll get an idea.

HAHA - stupid cures of mine :]

  • I never really get writers block but I can have a wicked short attention span and get bored with writing. My “writers’ block” is just me not feeling like writing even though I could. I almost only write when I feel like it and I get an idea I want to work with. It often starts of with me just getting a sentence stuck in my head which I write down. Sometimes more follows but sometimes nothing comes to mind.

To cure my “writers’ block” (AKA boredom) I * listen to music (mainly by MCR, The Matches, Green Day, Linkin Park and Flogging Molly) * read poems * read stories here on Mibba * watch movies (Nightmare before Christmas is a favourite) * draw * try to sleep (something always pops up when I’m supposed to sleep )

    And that's about it.

  • Exactly what What's in a name? said.

I just get bored with my stuff.

It has to be really original for me to be inspired throughout the whole story.

I just stop writing and do something else, which doesn't cure it, but it gives me a chance to think of another story to write (but never finish)...

  • Usually the weather will spark ideas to me. Mostly when it is snowing, raining, or if it is a gloomy, dark day.

  • I seemily am only getting insperation that's aiding my passion for original fiction thus abandoning my fanficitions.

I'm scared that I'll lose interest in fanfiction altogether. >.<

  • Music videos. I was watching A Little Less Sixteen Candles, and it gave me a great idea for a backstory! I was watching Apologise's video, and it gave me a new chapter for the fic i'm writing, but like haven't put it up yet. o.o

So ... chyeah. Music video's give me lots of inspiration, song lyrics do as well, but ... not as much. :/

  • I know this may sound weird, but when I'm doing the dishes I usually get ideas...:shifty

  • I had writers block for a couple of months. I only got over it about a few days ago.

Don't try and force yourself out of writers block. You'll just end up having writers block for longer..

All I did was just leave my story for a while. Even when you're not thinking about it your brain is working on ideas for you. ...I found that the song Read My Mind by The Killers kind of got rid of my block for me. I have no idea why, I just listened to it and had inspiration again.

  • as fucked up as this may sound, cutting gets me in a creative mood. :tehe:
i also get good story ideas in the shower sometimes.
or if something happens to me and it gets me thinking hey, that would make a good story, if... -insert plot-line here-

then there's the days/weeks where i'm just like, :cheese: CAN'T WRITE, CANT THINK, STABS BRAIN. sometimes i just have to stop thinking about the story, and that's when the ideas come to me.

  • For some reason, going for a bike ride/walk along my road helps. Seeing all those paddocks gives some inspiration for creating my own little world. Plus, it's away from all distraction or noise (ie, my family) and just gives me a little space.

    Car trips are good too.

  • I base most of the stories I write on personal experience. Most people can learn a lot about me by my stories lawlz, because I usually include things that I want to happen with my life, things that I'm scared of happening, what's already happened, etc etc.

  • Aghhhh ... I have writers block. Does anybody have any music videos, where two people find each other?
As many as possible. I don't care who the band is, what genre of music ... As long as two people find each other. Thanks! (:

  • I get writer's block a lot of times and what I usually do is just stop with my story for a while, totally forget about it and listen to music, walk around or play with my dog etc. and when I get back on it, my head is fresh with ideas.

  • It's going to sound weird, but it really works : hold your breath or go for a swim. When your brain doesn't get enough oxygen it will dilate the blood vessels. So by swimming underwater and holding your breath you will increase the blood flow to your brain. Not to mention that humans have a special reflex, called the depth reflex -I think- and when you are under water you body automatically increases the blood flow to your brain. But just try not to drown. -.-

Writing in a room with fresh air or when you're hungry helps too. Even the way you sit when you write affects your writing, if you stand with your back straight more blood will go to your brain, it will also tell it that it's time to work and concentrate.
