Writer's Block

  • Well what helps me is I just get up and walk away from whatever I can't write-but carry my journal around wherever I go, just in case an idea pops up! Another thing I do is go out, like at the mall, a walk in the park, just about anywhere. Then I sit and observe what's going on around me (carrying my journal always) to see if i get any ideas! :D

Another helpful thing would be to read a couple book in the genre you're writing to get ideas and motovation.

  • I have nothing else to do but draw and draw until I get that artistic vibe that allows me to write again. Or I make these fact sheets about my characters. :file

  • Once I get writer's block, I stop and I stop for a long while. Pick up a book and read and then I pick up another and another and another, as if re-juicing myself. Then I write until I exhaust myself and do it all over again.

  • I don't write anything. I just sit down with my writing scrapbook and write random words all over the page or cut out pictures from magazines and stick them in until something inspires me to write.

  • I usually just listen to music when I'm writing if I have writer's block. I seem to be getting it a lot lately and it's annoying me. :coffee:

  • ^ I agree with the music thing; I always listen to it when I'm writing. It seems to be my main point of inspiration a lot of the time. Songs just seem to turn into images in my head, kind of like movies. Then I just write them out.

I also find writing really late helps me. I just can't write on demand, but sometimes I'll be lying awake at like 12 at night and thoughts just come to me. It's not so good when you have to get up at 6 the next morning, though...

  • Writers' block gets annoying. I'm a new writer, and its expecially hard when writers loose the inspiration and creativity to write a good story.

People that posted previously (some) said that they watch television (disney, etc). How does that help you get motivated? That would not work for me because--then, when i am writing, those ideas would get in the way of my creativity. Possibly 'taking' an idea or two without even meaning to. Because I get them stuck in my head.
I usually can't write after watching a television show (expecially ones that I'm a big fan of) because of his reason.

To get inspiration...for me, It just comes and goes. Things that happen in real life sometimes SPARKs an idea in my head. Like a lightbulb. Other times, the weird, random dreams I seem to have on some nights give me ideas. Haha.
    xDD

    edit.

  • I've just recently found out that taking a long shower or bath helps me get over my writer's block. I get ideas and write part of my story while I take a bath. Only, when somebody stops me writing after, everything just vanishes and I have to start all over again. Other than that, music really helps. Then, there's reading me reading a few of my notebooks or jotting down random things on my notebook.

  • I'll just write blurbs, little sentences that sometimes make no sense it all. But then sometimes something will suddenly pour from me.

And then there are times when writing's just better avoided for that day or week, and then go back again later, I guess.

But I found that after a hot cup of tea/coffee and sitting down to classical music helps. [that makes me sound old. But it works. :shifty]

  • I get it all the time. Sad
I wrote about it in my Mibba Survival Guide story, and that helped.

  • I do my best writing at night. But for a few days now, I've had more ideas for another story than the other. So, I'm kinda screwed. I mean, I usually like getting comments that can help, but I haven't gotten a comment in a while...

    So, I don't know...

  • I had the worst writer's block for about a month, maybe more, and then I wrote a couple of drabbles that didn't make any sense and BOOM.

I have a million ideas for stories and I'm writing like crazy.

Although I think I'm getting it again...

  • I get inspiration from the kids at school. I just watch them in their struggles and write about it. Now that''s its summer, I'm utterly blocked. I've been going to the mall lately, people watching. IT helps a bit. And music. Just sitting up at 3am blasting my chem always gives me inspiration
