How Long Have You Been Writing?

  • Since I could read, at three.

But seriously writing, as in stories that I finish and can stand to call my own? About two years now...late sixth grade was the start.

  • I've been writing since before kindergarten. They weren't stories that made sense, they were just random sentences. Most of them either about a cat or a dog. I stopped writing though and started something else.
I rediscovered it when I was eleven. I found a random box from kindergarten that had most of my work in it and I found the random sentences and just decided to pick it up again and try. And I did, I'm glad I did.

  • Third grade. I joined the newspaper club. :con: So it must be going on five years now...

  • About... ten years roughly, probably a bit more.

  • i started writing my first story around Christmas break, my sophomore year of high school. I was freshly 16 years old, so about 4 years now. Of course my first few stories I've written are the lamest ever.

  • Since I can remember.
When I couldn't write properly I'd draw my stories or act them out with play-do.
I guess I could write when I was in about five or six? The first proper story I remember was when I wrote a story in first grade and I got a shiny badge for it which meant I'd done real well and the teacher read it out to the class. :tehe:

  • Since I was five.
So around eight or nine years.
I've always been making up stories and fairy tale lands for me to play in. I pretended I was a character from one of my stories in third grade, and then again in fifth. I'd have conversations with her in my head and try to unwravel everything so I could write it.

Kindergarten through first grade, I wrote this two page story with no format or proper grammar or anything, and it was about a detective.
I was so proud of myself.

And I've been writing ever since then, I guess...

  • I wrote a memoir about getting lost and a brief biography on my uncle in 1st grade.

7th grade I started writing a 'theme' nightly. That was basically a 3 paragraph piece about anything, a movie, my day or completely made up.

That didn't last long because on Thanksgiving night I started writing/posted my first fan fiction (It was an MCR one, though occasionally I'll deny it...) and have been writing since then. Last spring I started writing a story that was a [fan] Fiction piece as my friend would call it, because the main interest was directly based off of a guy in a local band I fancied. It was just barely an original character, I made small changes like his real name is Seager Dailey but in the story it's Thoursten Seag, but everyone calls him Seager, which help me slowly ween off of fanfiction and creating my own characters.
I'm also part of the writing group at my school (Pieces of Our Minds) and they're really nice and helpful for warding off writer's block.

  • I wrote a lot in second and third grade, but then I sort of stopped when my third grade teacher told me I couldn't write about depressing, morbid things any more because it wasn't age appropriate.

I started again in sixth and seventh grade when we did poetry units in class. I took creative writing all through middle school and loved it. Up until this year, I was only writing poetry and short stories, but I've recently started some chaptered stuff.

  • I've been writing stories in general since I could kidspell, which is like ... spelling words how they sound. It's how kids in like pre-school write.
I remember writing a story about a girl who brought her baby brother to school in a backpack (accidentally) when I was 5 or 6? My dad still has it apparently. :XD.

  • I've always written short stories, though I always though them away because I'm overly crititcal of what I write.

And...I started writing fanfiction around late 2005 so just over two years.

  • I used to draw my stories when I was around 5 too. It was a huge saga and I still remember bits of it, I plan on writing it when I'll be all old and wrinkled for my grandkids.
Then I wrote my first poem for my mom's birthday when I was 6. I continued writing poems until I got into high school. So last year I started writing only epic/dramatic. Though I think my first long-ish story was in before I got into high school. Dunno, does it even matter ?

  • I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but realized it was truly my passion in about...5th or 6th grade (7 or 8 years).

Most of my stories are original, but I choose not to post them on Mibba.

  • i can't remember a time when i haven't been a writer.
    diaries, stories, poems, random thoughts...
my earlier writings were the lamest things EVER, but i love them.
my poems all mostly suck. :XD i have one that i'm not completely ashamed of.
    January 11th, 2008 at 07:13am
  • Wrote some stuff when I was younger (poems etc), but regular writing of stories etc?
    Since March...lol...:tehe:
    January 17th, 2008 at 02:46pm
  • Poems, grade five.
    Stories, grade six.

Although they sucked back then. :XD

  • 10 years. fiction and nonfiction. and it took until last year for me to finally finish a novel. i am good on creative things but weak on structure. i had to get a book about how to plot out a novel in order for me to actually finish one. lol

  • Two to Three years.
The first year of my writing it was absolutely HORRIBLE. I would have people on Quizilla actually telling me it was amazing and today I look back at it and wonder if they were lying for just plain crazy. At this point on time if someone asked me if I was the writer of those... Things that don't even count as literature I wouldn't admit to it.
My newer stuff is better and I would possibly admit to writing it if its one of my better stories.
