Homosexuality (and Everything Else)

It wasn't my intention to bash religion or to offend anyone, I apoligize. It was my opinion I expressed, I understand the rules within this forum now, which I will abide.

I have just recently come to realize that I am asexual. I don't know how it didn't occur to me before...maybe because I had never thought to look up the official name for how I felt. All I know is that in the past, even while dating people I really liked, I never wanted to do anything sexual with them. I mean, I like kissing because it makes me feel close to them, but anything further than that just puts me off. People would say things like "oh, so-and-so is so hot, I'd bang him. Wouldn't you?" And I would say yes, even if the thought of sex with them didn't appeal to me in the slightest. I don't know, man. It's like I don't know what else it could be. I'm romantically interested in guys but I have no sex drive (towards anything, really). And I'm cool with it

I know I'll probably get hell for this (not necessarily from you), but I sometimes feel like someone that's asexual may just have low or total lack of testosterone levels, (and yes, females have testosterone) which greatly lowers their sex drive. Now I could be wrong, but before you knock it, maybe next time you go to the doctor you can ask your doctor to test your testosterone levels.

My main reason for this observation is a collection of randomly gathered information from personal experiences and other experiences. I have watched shows on transgendered people and the females that become males speak of experiences of having higher sex drives after taking the testosterone shots. My experience is that my libido is on some other shit, and I know that when females do sports, their levels raise. I did sports from age 9-17 and even something sexual related can get me horny.

Another question, have you ever done sports?

That's really interesting, that's never occurred to me. I'll talk to my doc about it at my next physical. That would make sense, except, ironically, not in my case, because I'm a runner, and I've done track and field throughout high school. I've also been taking a strength class this year which involves a lot of weightlifting, so it kinda makes me wonder. I mean, your suggestion might still be totally possible. I'm not good at actual sports, just running and working out. I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but yeah.

It may or may not make a difference. I could be wrong and you may truly be asexual, but you never know.

Plus with a little more research I found out hat other factors can cause a female to have a lower sex drive.

One thing that I will never understand is that back in Ancient Greece etc, homosexuality was considered the purest form of love.

As a gay man, I understand that some people may think that my sexuality is not right, but in my opinion, if you are going to put the blame somewhere then put the blame on the sexuality and not the person. I did not choose my sexuality, if I had, then maybe I would have been straight, who knows? However, I am learning to accept who I am. I didn't make this choice, I never woke up one morning and said 'you know what? I'll be gay today, see how that goes'. I feel ashamed sometimes because people think I am wrong, that me loving someone is wrong. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't - I'm not a religious person but I'd like to think that if there was a God, he would love everyone as they were. After all, he created us, right? He should love us for our flaws too, and I believe that is what this is all about, accepting people whether you like it or not. I believe that's what Jesus would have done.

Eventually the world is going to come around to the point where we realize that homosexuality is absolutely normal, and there's nothing wrong with it. Eventually we will look back at the statements saying that it's unnatural and evil with the same confusion and disgust that we now do when we look back at the past where interracial relationships were considered abhorrent. No one has ever been able to give me a good reason as to why anyone should believe homosexuality is wrong or shouldn't be legally recognized in marriage.

Oh and to anyone that might bring up religion? In the Christian/Jewish sphere, technically Jews can still believe that, but at the same time, they can really only make that argument if they're strict orthodox Jews. I say this, because if you're wearing mixed fabrics and if you ever eat shellfish? Then please, do me a favor and be less judgmental about homosexuality, because the bible flat out states all sin is equal, so if we're going to quote that bible verse then you have to remember that tattoos, shaving, mixed fabric, having sex before marriage at all, and a number of other things are frequently done, are against God's law and are not illegal.

Christians should probably let it go since it's old testament and there's at least one school of thought that says the old testament no longer matters because of Jesus. Or at least that's the answer I get every time I remind people that God commanded that when women are raped, they have to marry their rapist.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Kind of an off-track comment to say, but you should be a lawyer. You have really, really good points there.

Thank you, although I have contemplated being a lawyer before. I usually end up going, "Nah, I would have to hit people, and then immediately get disbarred."

Apparently it's against the rules to actually bitch slap your clients.

Yep. I do bring that up sometimes, but there were a lot of the time where I'd already deemed the other person in the conversation to be, well, not intelligent enough to understand that.

Sorry, not sorry. Especially since I once discussed it with a woman who, with zero irony, compared homosexuality with murder.

that's really interesting! maybe in some cases that's true. but i've been kind of batting around the idea of being asexual, or at the very least gray ace - i have a pretty low libido and i'm not all that interested in having sex. but my mom dragged me to the doctor when i was younger because my periods are irregular and so when they tested my blood they got a hormone count and he said the reason for that was probably because i have pretty weird hormones for a female, and that my testosterone level was pretty high.

so you know it might be something that people who are questioning would want get that checked out if they like but i'm not really sure that it's applicable to all people who identify on the asexual spectrum.

Yep :) its coraza though. But there isn't a wY yet to get females testosterone up, though because testosterone pills are too high for females to take.

Yep, it was in the middle of the conversation and she was talking about how she doesn't judge homosexuals for being sinful. I pointed out that calling them sinful is inherently a judgment call, to which she responded to that with, "Well, I know murder is a crime, but I don't judge the murderer." She got mad when I was like, "No. Never say that again."

Haha wow. I don't even know what to say. I don't even believe in sin though. I believe in morals and right and wrong. To me being openly gay is not wrong. Matter a fact, what I find wrong is when people aren't openly gay because of outside peoples judgement and such. To me that causes more harm than help. But lemme stop here before I go on a rant, haha

Oh I believe you! I was just trying to say, since in your original post you kind of made it seem like you thought all people who identified on the asexual spectrum suffered from low testosterone, but in my case that's not true. Since, like I said, I have a higher level of testosterone than normal in most females, but I still have a low libido and consider myself gray ace.

Also I'm not sure if that's quite true? I mean, trans men transitioning take testosterone. Unless you are talking about strictly over the counter testosterone medication, it is possible to get testosterone that is prescribed by a doctor that would work for DFAB people.

Oh, haha, no I didn't mean that all of them are asexual because of that, haha.

But it's still too strong because they take the testosterone to get male features i.e. Facial hair, deeper voice, defined and stronger muscles and etc.
