How is...feminism a form of racism? Feminists aren't their own race..

I don't think either side is right, bashing each other doesn't really get you anywhere, beating one another doesn't get you anywhere. I don't really believe violence solves anything, but that's just me. I don't think either side should ignore each other because that doesn't work either. I think, as time progresses, people are becoming generally more accepting. Sure, we aren't sitting in a circle holding hands and singing but we've come along way since people first admitted to being homosexual. People fear what they don't understand. I don't actually believe all homophobes hate homosexuals, I think they are generally scared and are closed minded and actually do think that being around gays will change them.

Personally I think it's hypocritical to say "I hate homophobes" because really, it doesn't make you any better than the homophobe saying "I hate gays".

    That's just my opinion...

I think it's wrong to hate someone just because they are homophobic. But I also think femism is just racism so I have weird morals.
I believe in understanding each other. People are afraid of what they don't know. I think homosexual/bisexual people should show the world how they really are and what they are about, not just bow their heads or worse swear/shout at homophobes. I don't think saying how much you hate homophobes or how wrong -or gay- homophobia is helps at all.
Remember how in fourth grade you always get told to "ignore it and it will go away"?
    Remember how it never worked?
    :shifty
Yeah that's what I was saying, don't ignore it. Stop and explain.
I believe that if you explain someone what you're about they will eventually understand. I don't believe in hate or violence.

I think that favoring a woman just because she is a woman is as wrong as favoring a man.
I am allowed to believe that right ? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for equality, but sometimes women are more equal than men. Like when a father tries to get custody, or when men are victims of domestic violence.

There's a different between a feminist and a woman that is sexist.

I disagree completely. My stepmother still thinks homosexuals are going to burn in hell and that they're disgusting. And I spent a year and half on her. Hatred can be so embedded in a person that somebody talking to them isn't going to be enough.

To me, homosexual's are the same as straight people. I was on Myspace and I see a banner about a Christian website and how a mother is DEVASTATED and completely thinks that it's WRONG that his son is homosexual. Some Christian completely accept it. :shifty It's confusing sometimes, at least to me.

Also, it's completely disrespectful when people go; "That is so gay!" towards something that is bad/lame. Although, gay means happy.

    Not anymore.

I rented a tape by Focus on the Family that describes how we were tricked by the media and society into believe that homosexuality is just the way people are born and how we need to overcome it and it has testimonies byliars people who have been "cured".

Yes, please show me a feminist who isn't a sexist.
I know that officially feminism doesn't imply sexism, but unofficially it does. It's not fighting for human rights, but for woman's rights. I'm all for equality.

Also because it seems silly to make an other post.
Do you think your step-mother would agree with you on anything ? I don't. She probably associates homosexuality with your person and that's primary why she hates it. But I don't know you or your step-mother, so I couldn't tell for sure.
I still strongly believe that talking and explaining are enough. If a person can be made to believe homosexuals are sinners and they will all go to Hell, he/she can also be convinced that they don't. People can be convince to do insane things, why can't we teach people not to hate? Violence and hate are never the answer, right ?

    a) My mother is a feminist that isn't sexist. She makes a very conscious point of not insulting men as a group.

    b) If women fight for women's rights is sexist does that make African Americans fighting for their rights racist?

    c) My stepmother didn't know I was gay at the time. She still doesn't know, as far as I know.

a/ And it would be great if everyone would be like your mum.

b/ I'm not going to comment on that one because I don't think fighting would do us any good.

c/ Yes but you guys weren't exactly on friendly terms. You were trying to convince her of something, she doesn't really like you so she won't believe you. I'm not saying it's fair, right or normal but people usually associate concepts with the persons voicing them.

    p.s. Sorry for the spam.

So if a homosexual tells a homophobe something they aren't going to associate it with the homosexual that they hate/are afraid of/whatever?

How about how for certain jobs like firefighters, men are chosen over women because they're "stronger", or how men in some workplaces still get paid more? Or how about how when a woman works in public, she has to deal with old men constantly hitting on her and making sexual comments not only from customers but from coworkers- simply because she's a woman? How is any of that fair? I have yet to see any of my male coworkers get hit on by older women but I get it from not only people my age but older men who get to the point they stalk me.
Sexism is way different from racism, so I have yet to figure out why you would say feminists are racist.
    I'm also a feminist who isn't sexist.

    To get back on track...
what is the correct term for someone who is a gay rights activist...or is that it?
I'm kinda blanking on vocabulary lately..

They are going to associate it with homosexuality. When you are homophobic you aren't afraid/hate just one person, but all homosexuals and you have a general view on them. It's like that with all phobias.

And Martian you just assumed that men can't be victims of sexual harassment at their working place. That's the kind of thing that makes me think feminism is racism.

I love how asexualism has not really been discussed.

Well, it obviously just hasn't come up yet.
But if you wanted to talk about asexuality, then go right ahead.
No one is stopping you. I'm sure everyone would have stuff to say about that, too.

    I don't mind asexuality...Well, honestly speaking, I don't mind anything. x]
I mean, there's even people who fall in love with inanimate objects.
Love is love, that's my view of it. Yes, to some it's rather odd when people fall for..."objects" or "animals" but, well, I don't really mind. Whatever floats their boats.
Asexuality sounds cool...In my sick, twisted odd way, it does. You don't have to worry about falling for someone or having a boyfriend/girlfriend 'cause yeah, you're asexual! ...:shifty...Did...That...Make...Sense? ...

It's also sexist, not racist. Feminists are not their own race. Racism deals with different races not sexes.
