Hello from Germany! I'm still alive guys... Got to watch the hawks win the cup at 5 am. At a hostel in Krakow. I've missed so many games while travelling, I can't wait to watch the play off games when I get home.

Oh another note, what's everyone expecting from the upcoming Olympics? I'm personally interested in seeing what'll happen with Canada's goalie situation...

When it comes to the Olympics, I'm torn between the USA and Russia... Not just for hockey but with figure skating as well.

You bet your dupa I'm Slovak.

I'm always for Canada in the Olympics when it comes to ice hockey. Then Sweden, Slovakia (because I, too, am Slovak), Russia, and then USA.

I'm a bad American when it comes to the Winter Olympics. x3

    That's because Canada's the best ;)
My second team is always Finland.

I'm all for USA, mostly because a lot of the hockey players are from Minnesota that play on the team and I pretty much love every Minnesotan hockey player lol.

Sweden is my second team though. :)

Yet I'm also German, so I root for them too.

I'll support the USA as a team, but there are individual players on Canada, Sweden, and Russia that I like as well and hope to see do well.

But how about those jerseys for the USA? I don't mind the stars, but the fake lacing just rubs me the wrong way.

Yeah, the stars I think are actually kind of cool, but the fake laces look tacky. I'm not a fan of those.

I don't understand why they would take the plain jersey concept (just the USA on the front) and turn it into something that looks like a third grade art project. :/

At least Russia's jerseys turned out to be pretty badass.

So I just found out that my dad has been holding out on me. Back in the day, when he'd just gotten out of the service and college, he'd worked at a GameStop at our local mall. Apparently, Jagr was a bit of a gamer and he would send someone in (or sometimes even himself, reportedly from my dad) to pick up games and would leave my dad Pens tickets since he was the manager.

Like really? Free tickets when I wasn't around? Where are they now, Dad? Granted, his secretary gave us her Pens tickets two seasons ago when she couldn't get to a game. Literally, my first and so far only game was against the Bruins about a week before Crosby came back.

oh wow. I wonder what kind of games he likes.

It's been pre-season for two days; amongst others, Toews is out with an injury, Tlusty is out with an injury, and Klesla was taken off the ice tonight on a stretcher.

    It's gonna be a rough season, isn't it? :\

Vokoun had a clot removed from his pelvis and he'll be out indefinitely. The Pens have only won one game in the preseason, too, so I'm a little iffy right now on how this team will do with the final roster. :p

    The Bruins look decent, though.

Gosh, I cannot wait until the NHL season starts. Also, I am excited for the upcoming Olympics. Go Bruins! Go USA!

More than a little excited that regular season Hockey starts in seven days god save me.

Also did anyone see Gagner's face after he broke his jaw? He looks so messed up. Here, if you haven't. It's not graphic or anything, he's just swollen as all hell and his teeth are pretty wonky.

    @ Caputi Or Bust;
I'm pretty surprised the Pens didn't do better against the Hawks the other day, even though they did end up winning during shootouts. I mean, the Hawks didn't really have any top line guys playing, and the Pens had Crosby, Malkin, Letang, blah blah blah. I thought they woulda done better than beating the Hawks by one. Pretty surprised, is all. I'm pretty iffy on how they'll do with the final roster too lmfao

    ouch, that's gotta hurt.

I was also surprised about the Pens game not being a blowout, but comparing the two teams I would have been doubly surprised if the Pens lost in the shoot out with their top players out there compared to the fact that most of the hawks veterans in that game were d-men.

I'm curious if there is a fanbase on Mibba for slash fiction in Hockey RPF. I see that the category on other websites are dominated by slash pairings, and yet Mibba remains mostly het.
I'm working on a massive slash fic but it's a hockey RPF pair. Is anyone interested in reading it?

Also, the Chicago Blackhawks have won the first game of the season against the Caps after a beautiful banner raising ceremony, the scoring opened by Bollig (who woulda thunk it?) and a beautiful GWG by Oduya.

    It's back, everyone. Hockey's back!

I've noticed that on other sites, too, although I'm not really into that sort of thing. It has a big fanbase though so I'm sure there are some on this site if you dig deep enough. :P

The Pens and Bruins won last night, and Flower is looking stunning. I'm interested to see what Zatkoff can do this season and I'm excited that Kobasew got his spot on the team (and scored his first goal as a Pen last night!).

I'm actually really curious: Where have the pens put Jokinen? How has he been doing so far? I love him, I really do, and I'm sad he's not a Hurricane anymore but I'm so happy he went to a good team (that I don't outright hate).

I believe he's on the third line (definitely in the permanent lineup for this season) and he's been a big asset so far in two games. No points yet, but I'm sure that'll change real fast. lol
