    So, I'm a horse rider. 8)

    Anyone else?

I mainly do eventing with my 16hh thoroughbred, Eddie, aka Mr Brightside. We also compete in dressage, show jumping and a bit of pony club stuff.

Come one, come all and discuss anything horse-related.

Do you have a horse? How long have you been riding for? etc.

Or, if you just like horses, come here and talk.

    Haha!
    They are very pretty. :cute:

I'd have to say the worst thing about horse riding are some of the really competitive people you have to go up against.
It's one of those sports where people can buy their way in with really expensive horses.

Woo, I found a riding thread!

So yeah, horses are pretty much my life, hah.

I've been riding since I was 3, and got my first horse when I was 10, but sold him soon after, because he was really dangerous and stuff. Then I bought my second pony, a grey [white], 14.2 connemara called Adam from my trainer, who wasn't much better mentality wise, rofl. He's very.. highly strung XD I've had him for almost four years now, and he's like a dog to me, lol. He was severely lame about a year ago [infection in his tendon sheath in his fetlock], and was almost put down, but now he's much better, but I just use him for hacking about on, and for messing around with.

Then over a year ago I bought Flynn, a 5 year old [4 when I got him] skewbald Irish Draught cross thing [basically an Irish mutt, hah], 16hh horse. He was insanely green when I got him, but he's really coming along now

I used to event Adam, but only 2'3ish, because he reared/bucked/bolted, and so I was never confident ebough to compete higher, hah. He was never in pain, he just gets so wild at competitions. And Flynn I've just been doing a but of everything English really, but I will start eventing him in the future.

I'm a horse rider aswell, but have never competed.

I previously rode for three years during the winter as was taught by a family friend who is qualified. I then stopped for a year due to my teacher having a young child. I have seen started riding again and have been for two years.

Thats all I can think of for now.

I am finally taking lessons after more than 6 years of wanting to since I was eight. It is really fun. It took long enough for my parents to actually get me into a place for lessons. Yeah, really late for lessons when I am 14 but at least I get to go.

^^ aww, fourteen is alright. I started when I was eleven.

I was quite a scared beginner. Like; I'd always take hold of the saddle when we'd canter or trot even, ha ha.
Anyways, I took lessons for about six years; of which the last three years were quite advanced dressage lessons. And then I quit taking lessons because I couldn't stand the other people that were in my 'class' anymore. They were so phoney, it made me nauseous, really.

But I'm lucky because I started looking after these horses of this man I know since I was twelve and because I was taking lessons at the same time; I learnt more and more and got confident enough to ride the horses of that man, who were all green.
And now I've got three horses that are as good as my own and I can ride whenever I want.

I don't compete with them, but I've got plans to maybe start one of them somewhere next summer, we've got a long road of training ahead, so.
I used to compete when I took lessons at the dressage stable, but it was all so blown-up and phoney and also kind of unfair; that it made me quit alltogether.

I live on a Major, Major, Major Throughbred breeding farm, Sping Hill Farm in Virginia.
It's over 3,000 acres. And some pretty major race horses have been born here, and that I've known. :cute:

I was riding horses from age seven until age twelve. That's when my horse died Sad *sniff*
His show name was Corretta's Chemical Romance (I started competing after I started my MCR obbsession lol) but we just called him Vinny. I don't know why, but for some reason I started to call him that one day and it just stuck! I don't even think I remember his real name... it was weird though, I remember that much. He was a lepord-patterened appoloosa crossed with an Arab, he was suuper gorgeous. I think he was about... 16.something hands (my parents always did the official stuff).

Me and him competed in showing jumping like it was life. I was a daring and crazy little girl, I would jump anything that Vinny would even try. We got first more in some seasons then others but the lowest we ever got was 6th.

I loved jumping, I miss ma boy! :(

I love horseback riding! It's been so long since last time I did it, I miss it.
I used to go to a Western horseback riding camp one weekend every month before... Hopefully I still know how to ride a horse! ^^

I use to exercise a friend of my step dad's horse. I came off at a gallop and screwd up my arm. I'm not allowed to ride again, nor can I do it physically.

    I miss it so much.

I love horseback riding Wow I have a Welsh Cob pony named Bolgoed Celtic Conjurer Jasper Carrot, and we use to train eventing. We can't compete in eventing though, because all the competitions is 100's of miles away >.< But we're competing in Dressage and showjumping, we got almost 60 prices now :D Jasper is getting old though, so i'm taking it quite easy with him these days.. we've been togheter in 3 years now, and i love him more than anyone.

I think that the best horse I've ever ridden was at this camp. His name was Bud, and he was this really pretty golden color with a yellow mane. If I remember correctly he was an arabian, but I'm not absolutely positive. I really liked that horse, and I rode him practically every day for a week when I went there. I hung out with him so much that the owner of the place started calling me Bud. We weren't allowed to go more than a slow-ish trot, though, due to the fact that on the first day someone fell off and broke her hand. I really miss that horse and I wish he were mine.

I used to ride, but that was four or so years ago. It makes me really depressed that I can't because of money issues. Owning a horse is my dream that I'm determined to fullfill later on. But, it seriously makes me want to cry, I want to ride, or just be around a horse, so badly. Sad

    I ride. Well, used to.
I went to Hampton Court Horse Rangers, and I really didn't like how it was run and the attitudes of other people who went. Like, they'd get asked to do a job, and because they were too lazy to do it themself, they'd try to pass it down to younger people.

I wasn't even a younger person, I had been there for five years and it got to the point where I couldn't stand the people and hated how it was run. So I just stopped going.

I miss all the horses though, espeshally Perry because he was beautiful.

I'm thinking about getting my own horse, though. :D
