Do you notice when you lose subscribers?

  • I notice, and at first I'm a little sad. But a minute goes by and I don't really care anymore. They're just missing out on a good story.

  • I used to feel kind of upset when I first started posting on mibba and I lost subscribers.
I thought that I was doing something wrong and it sort of bothered me that people were losing interest in my work.

But now, I mostly write one-shots and drabbles, so I don't get any subscribers to begin with.

  • I do notice when I have a small amount of them.
If I have a large amount then I'm like meh.

:lmfao I have three subscribers to a one-shot which only has two comments.

  • I actually feel bad for the people who subscribe to some of my one-shots. It's like, they expect more, but they're never going to get more.

  • ^ Some people subscribe just to keep a link to the stories.

  • No, I don't usually notice when I lose subscribers. Well, when I do, I don't really take it in a bad way. I just kind of use it as an excuse to look over my stories and figure out what I can do to improve them.

So really, I think it's kind of a good thing.

  • I notice when I lose subscribers. Mostly it's because I've ended a story and started a sequel so it's not a big deal. I think that once or twice I've lost subscribers on a story I was still working on. When that happens it just makes me re-read my story and see if anything has taken a turn for the worst. Sometimes when you're writing a story things slow down or the plot dies or something else unappealing. I've unsubscribed to a couple of stories because the story developed into something I didn't like, so I guess I understand.

  • Mm, yeah, I notice. I don't care. At first, I did. but then I thought: Oh well. I'm not writing it to get subscribers, anyway. I'm writing because I enjoy writing it.

Besides, I subscribe to stuff and I forget what I've subscribed until I get an email notification and I'm like, "Wha....? I don't remember reading this." lol. So I can't really blame them. I'm slow.

  • I haven't lost any subscribers, but I do notice when I lose readers. That's pretty depressing... Sad

  • Mmmm, can't say I do. I actually don't think I've lost any...
    September 24th, 2008 at 03:26pm
  • No, not really.
And I can honestly say I don't care all that much.

The numbers don't really mean as much as they used to, because like, it's what's in the numbers that counts. Like I can have thirty subsribers on a story and one on another and the second story can mean twice as much to me, or be much better.

Plus I never really paid all that much attention to the number of subscribers. It never seemed... important, you know? Like, I'd concentrate on thanking the people who bothered to comment, but the subscribers were more just a number to me - I don't really gain anything from knowing that number, it doesn't tell me really anything except maybe that these people liked my story, so it doesn't matter as much to me as a good comment, which might tell me what the reader did/didn't like and which might improve my writing style a bit.

But even comments don't mean as much as they used to; don't get me wrong, they make me smile like an idiot and my whole day is brighter, but I don't get the same pangs anymore if people don't comment.

So like I said before, I don't really notice.

  • Yeah, I notice. But that's only because I don't have a lot.

    I really should stop caring, all it does is slightly depress me xD;
    September 27th, 2008 at 01:22pm
  • I notice when I gain them and I notice when I lose them.

How much do I care, though? It depends on the story. I mean, DS has...fifty-two subscribers, I think, though that figure might be a bit off. But I don't particularly care how many subscribers it has. That's my least favourite story of mine and I'm thinking of deleting it anyways.

But I do care how many subscribers Burning. and Capture The Soul With A Single Shot have. I've poured myself into those two stories. They're my babies. I'd get very upset if either of those two lost subcribers. They haven't yet, though. Luckily.

So yeah, I do notice and I do care, but how I feel about the number of subscribers depends on the story.

  • I actually don't look at subscribers and readers.
Cause I'm very mellow about stuff like that.
    I just like comments. =]

  • Just knowing that my stupid little cliched romance has captured someones imagination is all I need. It's one of the things that inspires me to write.

Subscribers coming and going means little, but the knowledge that someone has taken the extra time to read the story...it means so much more. =D

  • A little, yeah. but I have a heap so I'm alright.

  • I notice. I always become really sad for a while but then get over it when I get two more. So, yeah.

  • I don't really notice, no.
    February 20th, 2009 at 06:22pm
  • Sometimes. I don't really mind, though.
