Do you notice when you lose subscribers?

  • I notice all the time,
I get really into writing, and notice the increase of subscribers, which boosts my confidence,
and then if I lose one (though it doesn't happen alot), I get kinda "Unsure"

Meh, maybe I just care a little too much :cute:

  • ^ I know exactly what you mean. I'm like that too!
I get super excited when I check my profile and I have comments/subscriptions and get kinda bummed when I realise I don't have as many etc.

It motivates you to write better, so it can't be all that bad. xD

  • Sometimes I do because I think that there was like 20 at one point and then I see 18 and I'm like, wait...wait...tis not right in the world!

But I really do hope it's my imagination...

  • I don't regularly check whether or not the number of subscribers have changed, I care more for the reviews, but still I'll notice it. I probably care more than I think I do, especially when I have a story I've worked a lot on but doesn't have many readers anyway.

  • I tend to check regularly so I notice. I only realize I have gone up / down in subscribers if it's a memorable number like 100 or 45 as it was on my latest story. (45 because that's in the 15 times table so it means you go up a star :D) unless I really think about it. I don't feel too bad about it though. I may go "Oh My GOD D:" at first but I'm just being an over dramatic teen and I forget again a couple of seconds later. I like it when I get a few more though because that always encourages me to write. :D

I never notice. I notice reviews, not subscribers.

  • I never notice subscribers. It's not like I have lots of them to begin with, though. My stories aren't very popular. I usually only pay attention to the number of comments I get.

  • Sometimes I notice, and it bothers me a little for a few minutes because I feel as if I suck at writing. BUt then it goes away :P

  • I notice and I'm disappointed for a few seconds, but I quickly get over it.

  • So far, in the course of my first story. I've lost at least 50 subscribers, and probably closer to getting at 100.

I do notice when I lose subscribers, i'm not gonna lie and act like i'm above it. lol.

It used to upset me at first. Everyones first reaction is always going to be "what did I do wrong?" But as I got to be on the site a little longer and be a reader also I kinda understood it more.

I subscribed to stories that I thought were great, but with working and trying to write my own stories and everything else (including the fact that Mibba doesn't send out update emails to me half the time) I lost sight of them. Months and months can pass and when I look on my subscribed list half the time I don't even remember the story, and delete it. Nothing against the author or their writing.

It's either people subscribed and never read it and unsubscribed, or they don't like where the story is going. Which happens all the time. There's really nothing I can do about it, so I don't stress it anymore.

If you don't want to read my story, then don't. There's plenty of other people out there who will, and do. So i'm not going to focus on the bad, i'll focus on the good. I'm not gonna go back and edit the story and change it because some people don't like it.

Besides, if you ever want to get published you'll have people tell you 'no', and that your writing is bad, over and over and over again. If I can't hack this, I definately won't be able to take the barrage of negetive comments if I ever try to get published.

In short, yeah, I do notice a lot of the time.

Does it bother me? No, not anymore.

  • I notice, and then wonder what I did wrong or why they decided to unsubscribe. Shifty

  • I try not to notice, I pretend not to notice, but I do. tehe
    January 10th, 2010 at 03:37am
  • I try to look the day after I update. It bothers me a little, but then I get over it.

I usually lose people when I go months without updating...

  • Not really, I have a bad habit disappearing for a long time because I get distracted with something other form of entertainment for a while and then I come back and I'm like, "Oh, I feel so bad for leaving everyone hanging!"
    And I really can't help it, I'm ADHD and I feel a need for reason to hang around otherwise I'll leave. ^^;;
But I always feel really freaking bad in the end. T.T

    Ha, that's what I do! And I'm a total nerd about it. tehe I ego-trip a lot.

  • I notice it from time to time.

But what I notice is I'll lose like one or two and then I put up another chapter and gain like four more subscribers.

Haha, so whenever I lose a couple I know more will be coming my way soon enough.

Plus it just feels good to see many subscribers.
    ^.^

  • I'll notice if it's a big amount that I've lost (say... 10+ if my story has more than that to begin with). It does make me wonder whether the last few chapters haven't been captivating or whether it has more to do with how often I update.
