I think I tend to use present tense a lot. Think I've tried using past tense, but I find that when I use present tense, I can understand and relate to my character more, and therefore convey their thoughts and emotions better.

I usually write in the past tense, but my most recent story is present tense. I had quite a bit of fun using it for a change. Still, I largely prefer to read and write past tense.

I used to always be past tense, then I started jumping around (ex: I walked out of the room, picking up a bag as I went...) and now I've been getting into using present tense more often.
I do it all, I suppose.

I write the best in past tense, so I just use that.

Past and present, though right now I'm reading a lot of stories in present tense and since I usually write in between reading, the tense just rubs off on me.

I have a bad habit of switching randomly in the narration, but I prefer present to past tense. "Break" sounds so much better than "broke" and so on.

^ I switch around a lot, too XD It's a pain having to go back and edit it so it's all in the same tense tehe

I usually write in the past tense, but sometimes a story needs to be in present tense, for some reason.

It's been pretty much present for the last year or so, I'd say.

Lately I've reverted back to past-tense for most of my stuff, but Brendon, You Asshole is in present. I got inspired to write it after reading fic on LJ, most of which was in present-tense. There's some past-tense in there regarding things that happened earlier in time, but it's a present-tense fic and I think that just gives you the rushed feeling the characters had.

I always use past tense. Though there have been time when I have wanted to try present tense and possibly future as well though I'd have to say that if I were to do future I think it'd have to be in second person

Only past tense; forever past tense. I can't do any other tense correctly.

Future tense is interesting. It shows up in my fics sometimes 'cause that tense can actually be intermingled with other tenses, depending on what you're trying to convey I've found, especially for an ending.

I usually use past tense, but I feel like present tense can work well for some stories.

Always past tense. I can write present tense, but it just seems like a Goosebumps book to me, I really don't prefer it. I think future tense is really interesting if it's done right.

Mostly, I write in continuous past, perfect past, and imperfect (past imperfective). But recently, I've started to write in present tense in most of my one-shots that are in third person point of view. I don't really have a preference as to which tense I write in though. I just write in whatever tense seems to fit what I'm working on at the moment.

    What's perfect/imperfect? Shifty
Pretty much, the imperfect is just combining the past tense with incomplete, continual or habitual actions.

    Ex:
    I was swimming....
    I would run....
    or
    I use to eat....

And the perfect tense is just a mess to get into.... OMFG Mostly because there are three different perfect tenses - the present, past, and future. But pretty much, the perfect tense is taking "to have" and putting it with a verb's past form.

    Ex:
Present perfect: "The boy has eaten the candy."
Past perfect: "The boy had eaten the candy before he ate his dinner."
Future perfect: "The boy will have eaten the candy by this afternoon."

It's all a big headache and kind of makes me want to bash my head against my computer desk... Facepalm
