Paranormal.

  • I think those toy ouija boards aren't, uh, "real" portals to another realm. The one time I did play, it was painfully obvious my friend was moving the triangle thing. But I do know someone who played around with a real one- I guess one that is made from wood and is blessed a certain way- and was possessed by an evil spirit. After that incident she was followed around by a demon for a while, until one day it just dissapeared.

I think it also depends on the person. Some people are more "open" than others, thus spirits see them as a way into the living world, or a way to manifest themselves. For example, my friend's and I went ghost hunting at the edge of the city we live in, where apparently a Colonial solider hunts the bridge in the park. Apparently, you can see him- though we somewhat deduced that it was shadows playing tricks with your eyes.

However, on the way back, my friend Ashely and I started to feel extremely weird. Both her and I have had encounters with ghosts so we are more open to it. We got this overwhelming feeling of fear and sadness, and when I turned around, I saw- very clearly- someone following us. and hearing rustling and whispering all around her. Her and I started to walk faster, trying to look ahead, and not in teh forest. I asked her first what she said she saw, and she saw the exact same thing only she could also see people crawling out of the woods, coming towards us and asking us to stay.

Her brother and sister saw, felt, and heard nothing. She told me it's because of their personalities. They don't really "believe" in this persay, and immediatly close their minds to it, while ours were open.

So I guess it depends on the person.

  • ^ I make them. I wouldn't buy anything - God no!

I think its more about faith than being "open". The more you can believe that a spirit will be powerful and respond in a certain way, the more it will. I believe that we have a lot of power to shape the spirits - and I use that word loosely, because I don't know what I believe they are - but most of it isn't conscious power.

  • I personally believe in the paranormal, but I've never really had any experiences. A friend of mine did when she was thirteen. She woke up one night to a Maori warrior standing at the end of her bed. She wasn't scared or anything, and he just stood there while she stared at him. My sister told me when she was around 5, she woke up to a head on her door. There was blood dripping from its neck, and it was staring at her in a horrible way. (Just that shit-scary kind of way.) It then whispered her name, and she ran out of her room screaming.
Also, when I was on holiday in Rarotonga with friends and family, our friend Bryce took a photo and there were orbs in the picture. There's also a photo of my cousin Rachael from when she was a teenager, and it's of her and a friend, and standing behind them is a boy who is glowing. She said he was an Angel. She can also talk to the dead.. Um, and my other cousin has seen orbs a lot.
I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of for now.

  • This may not be completely paranormal, it could just be my dog being silly, but one time I was awake with my dog on my bed, at about three in the morning. Everyone else was a sleep. My dog was lying down (not sleeping though) & all the sudden she got up. She was staring at the roof, & then started to growl. I thought she was growling at her shadow or something, but when I looked up I couldn't see anything weird or out of place. She then jumped off my bed, & was jumping up like someone was there, then she started to full on bark. Then she calmed down. It freaked me out.

  • I believe I've had an experience....but it would probably freak most of you out.
This is probably the reason why I sleep so poorly.

    Tell us about it.
    Hopefully I don't sound crazy.

Anyway, I think something might have happened last summer, around 4AM.
It's hard to describe in perfect detail, so I'll try and do as best as I can.
The apparation that seemed to be over by my closet, wasn't really talking...just mumbling.
I noticed the face because of a picture I had seen. It was my Grandmother's brother, Mason, who died before I was even thought of.

I know how he died, and it was because he committed suicide.
(Carbon monoxide poisoning, inside his car, by the way)

The oonly reason I can think of as to why he came back was because of something I had said earlier. I wasn't really thinking when I said it, and regret saying it.

I said that anyone who committed suicide was weak, and that I didn't respect them.
I think that might have angered him; causing his spirit to come.

I could see him walk closer, and I felt so afraid.
I turned over onto my stomach, and it felt like I was being pinned on.

I apologized a hundred or so times and it stopped.

    He hasn't come back sense.

Well to be fair, suicidal people probably don't like being told they're weak. It kind of exacerbates things for them.

  • ^ *giggles*

I once really pissed a "spirit" off by refusing to believe it was evil - I told it it was just misunderstood. It told me it wanted to kill me.

    Good times XD

  • The first experience I had was when I was seven, I saw my first ghost ever standing in between some cactus while we were driving @ 2 A.M after a party.

I've also encountered a woman hanged in the living room of a former house I've lived in, she spoke to me, but I freaked out and slowly backed away into my room. Since then I never wake up to get water at night anymore.

My two last ones, were pretty much the same, just different houses.
I was asleep and then it got really cold, and I felt something crawl on top of me and a hand wrap around my neck and it started chocking me, I open my eyes but it stayed dark and I couldn't scream...
I was trying to kick, scream and shove whatever was on top of me, but couldn't.
I have no idea how it stopped, but when it did I flicked on all the lights and just crawled on my bed and just stayed there shaking violently.

Then the chocking thing happened to me again in the house I live in now and I also saw a little girl here.

  • The only experience I have had was when I was 10 ,sitting in my kitchen at the breakfast bar waiting for my mom to get dressed so she would take me to school. All of a sudden the light goes off. I run into my mom's room and tell her. She walks over to the light switch but it was turned off, the switch resting in the off position...*shudders*

My friends sister had an Ouija board when she lived alone at a one bedroom apartment, when she was in college. She finally realized that it was demonic, and she wanted nothing to do with it, so she broke it in half, and put it in her fireplace, not going to bed until she made sure it was all ashes. She wakes up the next morning, it is fully intact , sitting on her couch.

Mmmhmm. That doesn't seem likely to me.

But then again I'm a skeptic when it comes to ghosts and spirits.

  • ^Well, unless you're flat out accusing Frozen.Eskimo of lying you'd have to entertain the notion that it is possible.

I'm not accusing Frozen.Eskimo as lying as such, but I was implying that the story that was told to her might not be true, unless she was there right when it happened. But I got the impression that it was a story that was passed on to her. I just don't think it's at all likely that happened. But as I said, I'm a skeptic.

There are some stories on the thread that I'll read and I entertain the idea of it being true, but then there are some like that one that just make me laugh.

    I would've laughed once upon a time.

  • ^So what experience have you had that changed your mind?
    January 2nd, 2010 at 07:44am
  • I just refuse to be a cynic. I believe in God. So, I believe that sort of thing is possible.
    January 2nd, 2010 at 08:28am
  • I strongly believe in paranormal activity and psychokinetic abilities, mostly because my great-grandmother was a clairvoyant and many things she predicted in my family came true. For example, before she died in the mid-eighties, she told my mother she saw a baby girl in a vision and described her, and when my sister Dawn was born, she looked like the baby that Nona had described. But that might just be a coincidence.

I believe my house (which is quite old) is haunted by two or more spirits based on experiences I've had. I've seen the reflection of a woman in a white dress standing behind me in a mirror in a bright room several times, things move on their own, I'll close a door while I'm home alone and when I turn around, it will be open, my cats react to things that aren't there, and my little sister says that a blonde little girl "lives" in her room, and my mother has also seen her. I'll also hear something that sounds like heavy boots running through the house in the middle of the night and voices (one male and one female) whispering in my room.

There's probably explanations for some of this stuff, but I was brought up to take paranormal activity seriously. The only thing I can't explain is why I get light-headed and can't breathe well in a cemetery in my town that is rumored to be very haunted...

  • Coin-Operated Angel:
I'm a proud Ouija Board owner, and have had a few experiences several times.

The first night I used it was a couple of days after Christmas, when I got it. Emili was over, and we were trying it out. We met this kid Vazz. I got the feeling of him staring at me and such, and he didn't like us at first, and kept leaving and coming back. We thought he was stalking us, and when Em went to the bathroom, she heard breathing.

I'm fascinated by them, but aren't they supposed to be really unlucky?

  • ^ If you don't do a certain closing ceremony or say a prayer after you're done with the Ouija board, anything could come through, good or bad. The portal to their plain of existence doesn't close on its own. That's why if you don't know what you're doing, they can be very dangerous. You could contact some sort of demon instead of a dead relative or something to that effect.
