Wicca is defined as follows by Wikipedia:

Wicca (IPA: /?w?k?/) is a nature-based religion popularised in 1954 by Gerald Gardner, a retired British civil servant.[1] He said that the religion, of which he was an initiate, was a modern survival of an old witchcraft religion which had existed in secret for hundreds of years, originating in the pre-Christian paganism of Europe. The veracity of Gardner's statements cannot be independently proven, however, and it is possible that Wiccan theology began to be compiled no earlier than the 1920s.

Are you Wiccan? What are your views on the overall subject?

    Let's debate.

(I didn't see a thread on this, but if it belongs in a smaller subcatagory, then lock.

I had a bad experience in Wicca where I accidentally left myself open and was attacked. I don't think it's a bad religion at all. It's just not mine.

It's a very, very creepy thing.
    But it's fascinating.
I was not a huge believer in this before, but I tried it.
    And weird things happened.

    I'm pagan.
Wicca is a branch off of paganism. Paganism is an earth religion. Sometimes a pagan person believes in many gods and goddesses. Some just one god, one goddess. I love this religion. Its the only one for me, I just don't fit in with Christianity, its never held anything for me.
I believe in reincarnation, I believe that the spirit of the All (which would be considered God in Christianity) lives in every being, human or not. And though I am not a wiccan, I do live by the ever famous, An harm ye none, Do what ye wilt. It means, believe and practice whatever you want, as long is it harms no one, including yourself. I also don't believe in Satan or Hell. Or heaven. i believe in an Afterlife, and that is it.

I'm not pagan, but your views are pretty much the same as mine. I think Wicca is really interesting. I actually wouldn't mind researching it a little more. Things like Wicca and Paganism always fascinated me.

I wouldn't consider myself Wiccan, but I have been studying up on it for the last year. It is a nature-based religion, because it falls under Paganism. And yes, it is witchcraft. There are two different type of it: black magick and white magick. White magick is the more peaceful of the two. Black magick is what you could consider "evil magick". It can be cruel, and can cause harm to anybody.

The whole Wicca religion is highly based on the concept of karma. What you give out comes back to you three-fold. It can work both ways. If you do something good for someone, something better will happen to you. If you cause any form of harm towards someone or something, you get it back three times worse.

I know that the pentacle is often mistaken for the sign of the devil. The pentacle is a five-pointed star with a cirle around it. Each point stands for something different: Fire, Water, Earth, Spirit, and Air. It is a sign of protection. It has nothing to do with the devil. If you were to take the circle away, then that would be an entirely different story.

I'm not a wiccan, but it's quite interesting. My friend started yelling at me for owning a wicca-book, and I basically told her to back off. She says 'I'm okay with other people's beliefs', and then she goes ahead and yells at me for such. -Shakes head-

    That's not cool. "/

Yeah, I can't really buy those books in real life, so I get my info off the internet. It's a really good resource for this particular thing.

I tried to go wicca last year.
    I was immature.
    :shifty
But, Wicca is a strong and intriguing religion. I became interested almost instantly.

Thats something alot of people do. They hear about it, and then they automatically decide "I'm going to become a wiccan!" So then they start doing things they know nothing about, and usually end up getting hurt. To become a wiccan( some prefer witch) you must go through a year and a day of intense spiritual discovery and study. You have to dive deeper into it, and ask yourself if it is truly what you want. Paganism and Wicca are beautiful religions, but they just aren't for everybody. Maybe I will eventually become a wiccan. Who knows? I've done it before though. In another life I mean... I was talking to a friend of my friends mom, who is a psycic, and she was telling me how I'd been a witch before, in a past life. According to her, I'm pretty dang 'old'. hahaha

Yeah, it was actually quite strange. And her boyfriend was behind her with his crystals and when she asked if he agreed he looked at me funky, stroked the crystal in his hand, and then smiled, nodding

The're really nice people. I should send them an email...?

No, but she was just looking at me for a minute, then she said, "You have a beautiful soul, and a heart as big as the moon. You are amazing at loving people... but you need to start working on loving yourself."

I know that I need to start loving myself. it's hard though. "/
Yeah... sorry to put a damper on this convo. I can't wait for the mega- Christian kids to come on here and start telling me I'm going to hell. Fun debates!

    I'm a Christian and I'm wouldn't do that. :shifty
I mean just not all of us are like that.

Actually I always found Wicca interesting, if I wasn't
a Christian I'd probably study a bit up on it. The
only thing that ever kind of freaked me out about it is
that one of my friend's messed around with it a while
back and he got really.....weird? I don't know quite how
to describe what happend but he was definantly very
    immature and careless with it.

^ must've been careless, like you said.

And I didn't mean to go and classify all Christians as that. Sorry, that was rude of me. I've just always been a little guarded when it comes to Christians and Catholics because of my mom's mom and aunts. They are MEGA catholic, and if they knew I was Pagan.. oh Goodness, there'd be Heck to pay.

I was babtised Catholic, but I don't consider myself to be one. My mom practices Shamanism. I would say that I'm following her footsteps with that.
My grandma (my mom's mother) lives with us, and she has no idea what we practice. If she was to find out, she'd go all, "Woe was me" on us.
We can't even talk about it with my dad, because he goes bizzerk. He knows what we do, but he always as something immature to say about it.

Yeah I have no idea what he did, but it really
got out of control. Like I never understood how he did though,
like are there certain things to look out for or what?

It's okay, I understand I used to be a bit guarded against Pagans. I mean almost all of the Pagan kids at my school(and there are actually quite a few) are huge pricks but then I made friends with a few other ones and they're like totally nice.
So really I guess it depends on the type of person.

He could have been one to practice black magic.
Or he could've just taken the wrong direction. I don't know what to look out for honestly, because I don't know everything about Wicca. So.. yeah.

To be honest, I'm not even considered Pagan by the religions' standards. I just consider myself Pagan because my beliefs are Earth Based. I've been considered Atheist by some, but.. I dunno. It's hard to explain. The All is what Pagans call the spirit that lives in everything, and then underneath the All is all of the other deities. Such as the Sun God and the Moon Goddess. I believe in something more 'out there' and it might not necessarily be God, or anything. I don't believe it looks like a Man, like the Christian Bible says God does. I believe that we're all here to pay our karmic debt, and thats why reincarnation happens. That's why I don't believe in Heaven or Hell- just the Afterlife, where we go until we decide to be reincarnated again.

This probably makes no sense. If you have any questions, just PM me. It'll be easier to explain if I have specific questions. Its hard to be so brief.

But a friend of mine is and it always fascinated me.
Another friend of mine had a abdexperience with it, but I don't really understand what she meant by it when she explained it, now she won't discuss it with anyone.
