I have practiced Wicca for a few years now, and I have found it to be a very healing and positive religion, however, as I began to study it more in detail, I began to stop calling myself Wiccan. I simply call myself a Witch. I do hold to the basic beliefs of Wicca, but I don't agree with all of what is thought. I am a follower of the Greek/Roman Goddess Hecate (or Hekate), and She being a dark aspected Goddess, which makes me what many term a "Gray" Witch. I believe that if someone, does harm against me, then I have the right to defend myself, and send back the negativity that they have sent to me. At times if they continue to do harm then I will fight back with stronger means of action. This is sometimes see as a "bad" thing among many Wiccans and a few Pagans.

My mother is really catholic and when she made me take classes on it I had a feeling that it just wasn't me. I don't question whether there is or is no God. If you believe in Him, that's great, no pun intended. Anyway, I was reading this book and there was Paganism in it. When I realized what the religion was, I thought "Wow, a nature based religion? That sounds really great." Because nature surrounds us all the time and we all enjoy it. That's when I knew that it was right for me. I'm still currently waiting my year and day till I call myself a Pagan/Wiccan. For now I'm just catching up on the studies of it. My mom doesn't know any of this and if she did she'd probably try to bathe me in holy water. I rather not tell her till I'm 18 and long gone from her house. Nobody knows about it either so I'm just keeping the news to myself.

I am so interested in Wicca/Paganism. Could someone possibly PM me so we could talk about it? I read a little on Wikipedia forever ago, but I don't really want to go that route, since it's pretty unreliable.
    But yeah. Thanks guys. (:

It's a very, very creepy thing.
    But it's fascinating.
I was not a huge believer in this before, but I tried it.
    And weird things happened.
im wiccan. or atleast im a type of wiccan. wiccan means you beleive in no god or satan and you want to be closer to mother earth nd be apart of it. its not something you can just try then walk away from. we dont curse people or anything of that sort. we cannot use our religian in any personal gain. only to better others and the world.

My friend is a Pagan, or was it Wiccan?s not really sure, and i've always found the religion interesting.
I'm an atheist but I do live by Pagan beliefs somewhat. I'm thinking of trying it, but i'm still doing research and talking to my friend about it.
Might try it, and am not bothered by it.

I am not wicca or pagan but I do practice heavily. I can mentally draw a circle without candles, I can feel and see spirits, sometimes they talk to me, I can tell when someone is about to tell me to hurry up or they're running late and I can slow down or if I should move faster -- after the Greek everything, have to say it's my favorite. I've always been big into wicca and finally knowing and having my teacher has really helped.

I've read books about different Wiccan beliefs. Just like most religions everybody sees it differently, I promote it, I'm not Wiccan, but it's a very beautiful belief. I love how Earth bound it is.

My best-friend's mother is a psychic. I've never asked her about Wicca and the likes, but perhaps I will. I don't think I'll ever do anything with it, but I would definitely love to learn more about it.

I wouldn't consider myself Wiccan, but I have been studying up on it for the last year. It is a nature-based religion, because it falls under Paganism. And yes, it is witchcraft. There are two different type of it: black magick and white magick. White magick is the more peaceful of the two. Black magick is what you could consider "evil magick". It can be cruel, and can cause harm to anybody.

The whole Wicca religion is highly based on the concept of karma. What you give out comes back to you three-fold. It can work both ways. If you do something good for someone, something better will happen to you. If you cause any form of harm towards someone or something, you get it back three times worse.

I know that the pentacle is often mistaken for the sign of the devil. The pentacle is a five-pointed star with a cirle around it. Each point stands for something different: Fire, Water, Earth, Spirit, and Air. It is a sign of protection. It has nothing to do with the devil. If you were to take the circle away, then that would be an entirely different story.
I am Wiccan and I'm sooo happy that someone doesn't think that Wiccans worship satan or that the pentagram is evil. I would like to point out one thing though. Just because you are Wiccan, doesn't mean you have to practice witchcraft. A lot of people get that mixed up. Yes, they are similiarly related, but they aren't the same. I, myself, am a witch too.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to ask questions on threads like this, but I do have a question for an experienced Wiccan and witch and I thought this would be a decent place to ask.

I believe Wicca and witchcraft is the right path for me and I'm trying to learn more on it by reading various books. Someone on mibba told me to learn from the author Silver Ravenwolf. But on a different site, someone told me I should avoid reading Ravenwolf's books until I'm more experienced as she isn't accurate on Wicca or witchcraft and she spends a lot of time bashing other religions. I've began reading one of her books and before I go any farther in this book, I'd like a Wiccan and witch to answer my question.

So my question is, is Silver Ravenwolf that bad for beginners to learn from? And if she is, what author is the best to read books from to learn more on Wicca and witchcraft?
I've been told to wait a year and a day to decide if Wicca is right for me, and I'd like to learn as much about it as possible in that time, and I'd prefer it to be truthful.

Thank you to anyone who can answer my question.

That is completely untrue! Silver RavenWolf is actually the best author for beginners on the Path or Wicca and Witchcraft. She is a High Priestess as well as a mother, who has raised her children in the religion. She has writen many books for beginners. If you are wanting to learn the Craft then turn to her books to start you off on the right foot. Her book "Teen Witch" is perfect for teens wanting to learn the basics of the Craft. So, take it from someone who has studied for a long and hard, and start with RavenWolf. I wish you all the luck and may the Goddess watch over you. Blessed be.

    I'm pagan.
Wicca is a branch off of paganism. Paganism is an earth religion. Sometimes a pagan person believes in many gods and goddesses. Some just one god, one goddess. I love this religion. Its the only one for me, I just don't fit in with Christianity, its never held anything for me.
I believe in reincarnation, I believe that the spirit of the All (which would be considered God in Christianity) lives in every being, human or not. And though I am not a wiccan, I do live by the ever famous, An harm ye none, Do what ye wilt. It means, believe and practice whatever you want, as long is it harms no one, including yourself. I also don't believe in Satan or Hell. Or heaven. i believe in an Afterlife, and that is it.
    same here!
I am a witch and i have a friend who is a witch. It's only scary if you're afraid of what might happen.
Things have happened to me but i'm still a witch. It's a very down-to-earth religion that does not criticize anyone or anything. I'm a firm believer

This is what most people have against her http://www.fortunecity.com/roswell/vanthal/608/id57.htm

But I personally think if you read it with some of this stuff in mind she does lay down very good ground rules otherwise and I don't disagree with her as much as that article does lol. But it does have good points.

For 8 years of my life, I lived in an extremely haunted house. I was even terrified to fall asleep at night. My family was, and still isn't, very religious at all. then my sister's ex-boyfriend (they were together at the time) got me interested in Wicca. He had been deeply practicing the craft for quite a few years, and promised that he would cast a protection spell on my room and banish the ghost that was basically torturing me at night.
When we moved out, I got interested in the craft myself. Ever since we moved out a year ago, I've fallen in love with the craft. (:

I'm pretty. . . rooted, I guess you would say, in basic Christianity. (Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit and all that lovey-dovey stuff.) But the Wiccan religion seems, well, interesting. I'm not thinking of joining but I would like to know more about it just because it seems almost foreign to me.

One question I've always wondered is when someone says they "messed around" with the religion or had a bad experience, what actually happened? Did they not complete a ritual correctly? I'm curious as to know why and how these bad experiences came about.

When people say "Messed around" its exactly that they play around with different parts of wicca sometimes it's spells and if you arent carfull spells can go wrong. Other times people may try using ouiji boards and font know how to use them properly summonig harmful spirits which can lead to harm to themselves and others. Wicca is not something to be taken lightly and it is best not to try things (spells, invocations, rituals ect.) Without fully understanding what you are getting yourself into and knowing How to control the situations you enter.

I most closely identify with Wicca, but I tend to mix and mash my beliefs.
Somebody actually told me I was just a poser and going to Hell for having a "shopping cart" religion.

I don't believe in a Hell, or Heaven per say.
I believe that there is an afterlife, and everybody goes to the summer lands, until it's time for them to return and learn another lesson.
I don't cast spells, all though I did when I was younger because it was "cool"... it's just not something I'm comforatable messing around with.
I do partake in rituals though.
So I'm not entirely sure what religion I belong to, but I feel it's more to Wicca than anything.

My mom used to be okay with it, then she was "born again" and tells me I'm practicing the Devil's work -_-

You could be a Neo-Pagan thats what I am. Your basic over all belief is paganism and some of it's practice mixed with beliefs of your own and different spiritual paths. Thats a watered down way to explain it I think.
