I love religions like Wicca. Well, that came out wrong. I'm agnostic, and I don't plan to be anything else anytime soon. I mean I think that it's an interesting religion. I like reading up on religions like Wicca, Satanism, etc. although I'd never be one myself. It's nice to get past stereotypes and assumptions and learn what it's really about. Usually what it's really about are based on reasonable beliefs and they're pretty interesting to study.

I used to be Wiccan... I had a book with all the stuff in i, like how to initiate yourself into the relgion, all of the holidays, and spells, herbs, etc.

I kind of had a bad experience, kinda freaky. I left my circle open, and I think something evil got my power. Three bad things happened to me, which I find ironic, because of the whole "threefold karma" thing. I tried to do a stupid love spell and it just backfired.

I didn't mess with it after that, generally because I don't know what I did to leave my circle open. I'm pretty sure I was mentally and emotionally healthy, so I dunno.

In Wicca, you need to be healthy, and a good person. If you do something wrong or "bad" then it comes back threefold, also known as karma. I'm not big on the whole karma idea, but I do believe in it somewhat. I think things happen with a mixture of fate, karma, and hard work.

Yeah, so that was an aimlessly long ramble. :shifty
    [/ramble]
    Wow. That's so interesting...

I'm looking into becoming Wiccan. Right now I'm Christan/Catholic (I have no idea how to tell the difference). The book I'm using is Teen Witch by Silver Ravenwolf, it's very interesting and so far I love it. I will stay with my current religion though just be part of both. Has anyone else done that?

i personally find the modern perceptions that have created religions like wicca to be a poorly constructed rip-off of many older religions, the "arts" commonly associated to wicca are predominately miss interpretations of European, shaman or druid practices that were carried in a drug induced trance. i think before you get drawn into the over polished modern culture wicca i believe you should read into the cultures that it has be based around: like Nordic/ Germanic (vanir and aesir), Celtic (kelidh) ,classical (roman/ Greek) and saami or Mongol(hunic) myths and traditions. as these cultures influenced the modern sub-culture of wicca and you would learn its true cores and beliefs and views of the world.

I'm Wiccan and not afraid to admit it. I have two books on it and I am finding it to be a very cool, in a sense, religion.

I tried to be wiccan and it really didn't work out for me. So then i read into Pagan and now i'm proud to be Pagan and i love it. But wiccan is really what let me be true to my inner self. It really is an awesome religion.

It's possible to mix the two religions together, Wicca allows you to do that because there is no rules, aside from the harm none rule, which is in every religion. A lot of people mix religion's together, even if it's just the symbolism of it all, like some people use to god's and goddess' from Hinduism, and other's use Egyptian's. Silver Ravenwolf was the first author who introduced me to Wicca, however since I am on my own I read and lot of books about Solitary Wicca by Scott Cunningham too. But do a lot of research before you do anything; and when celebrating a festival start with meditation and focusing on the event rather than anything magik related; until you know you can do it and that it harms none.
    O B S C E N E:
I don't quite understand. Can someone who is a wiccan please explain it more?
Wiki can be changed and I want to get the truth.

I don't plan on converting though, I'm a proud Catholic. I am just very curious and I wish to know more.

    Please and thank you!
Wicca is a branch from Paganism, both are nature based belief's (can't really be called a religion because neither have a head of the religion), the basic difference between the two is that in Wicca they use magik to help bring good fortune and luck into their lives; basically it's helping to reinfornce postive thoughts and good karma.
Because Wicca has no head figure, like Catholic's have the Pope and Christian's have the Queen (or at least the UK do) there are no rules that everyone must obey, aside from the harm none, which is in all religions and belief's. With Wicca it's more flexible since people can worship a god and goddess, to allow them to give thanks for what has been given to them, to be able to ask for help if it's needed, to ask anything.

I'm not a full on Wiccan, at least not in the open, my belief's are my own and I have no real reason to tell people about it. My family know and don't really mind, and I get really odd comments about my pentacle necklace that I wear, like someone telling me that her boyfriend has it as a tattoo. I like Wicca though, it's got more freedom to it.

I'm not Wiccan, I'm actually an Anglican Christian.
But I do follow Wicca. It interest me very much, and I practice it sometimes.
    It's something I enjoy :)

Perhaps maybe you left the circle and it broke causing all the energy to be let out? Or maybe you opened a circle door and forgot to close it...? Idk, just random thoughts... :D

I've been into Wicca for a very long time. I started getting into the Craft when I was little because I saw Charmed [oh shush :p] and I started getting really curious and me and my friends would do our own little spells. Not knowing what I was doing, I've gotten myself into some Karmic trouble. XP

But since then some family of mine have been helping me. My best friend is also a solitary and she helps me along or answers questions. :]]

Some great books to read are by Scott Cunningham. Silver Ravenwolf's books are also great to read. Both writers are very different in styles, but it's always good to read a plethera of different styles and branches of Wicca.

Anyone here know any good authors on Shamanism? I'm interested in learning more about it...

I find Silver Ravenwolf's books to be okay, but now it's pretty much Scott Cunningham and other books that have more focus on solitary Wiccan's.
Although I am reading Which Witch is Which? by Patricia Telesco which is rather good if you want to learn about some of the different path's that are out there, ie Alexandria Tradition, Christian Witchcraft ect. It's a good read if you want to learn about different path's.

Wiccan practices can be actually quite frightening if not done the proper way. I am not Wiccan but my mother was and weird stuff used to happen in our house and things, I own all her old books on Wiccan practices and healing stuff. It's quite interesting.

A lot of studying needs to be done, and if your new to the Path, you would always be better to keep things simple and easy, ie meditation ect.

My advice: get all kinds of different authors and all kinds of different branches of Wicca! Like the person above said, Scott Cunningham and Silver Ravenwolf are great. :]]
