    If you post during the time of day when most users are on that usually helps. If I have an update I wrote at 3 in the morning I'll keep it until 4 in the afternoon the same day etc.

    - Pimp out your stories, whether it's in confessionals or WAYT or in the writing forums or even in your sig, blogs, in author's notes of other stories

    - Make friends with other authors on Mibba! The more friends you have on Mibba, the stronger the likelihood that they'll see the stuff you update / recc in their feed and you'll gain new readers.

    - Be kind and courteous and thank people for commenting on your stories. They aren't obliged to comment and it's always nice when you get a message of someone thanking you for the comment you've written. Especially what you've written is super nice and fangirly (ie all of my comments haha).

    - Summaries that aren't long, ideally they should pull you in but some people just like simple quotes and sticking that on. I like to add to the characters section too so the readers can have more of a feel of how the story is.

    - Tagging your story can help gain more readers if they're looking for specific stories.

    - Posting at specific times of the day when the site is more active helps!

    Advertise as much as you can:
    1. Blog about it
    2. Put a link to it in your signature
    3. Tell all your friends
    4. Enter it in contests (if possible)
    5. Put it up for a comment swap

    If it's a chaptered story, definitely try to stay on top of your updates. Too much time in between updates can make your readers lose interest.

    A catchy title and summary is always helpful. And I personally happen to be a sucker for a pretty layout, but the deciding factor on whether I read a story or not is usually an attention grabbing summary.

    Give kudos to your readers/commenters! I even PM these lovely people from time to time Mr. Green

    Be patient. Even if you don't get the response you were hoping for after the first chapter goes up, keeping working at it. Chances are the reader just wants a little more to go by before they can critique and offer their honest opinion.

    * Recommend it when you don't even have a chapter for it posted. Get people hyped.
    * Blog about it! Tell people what they can expect.
    * Tell your friends!
    * Ask for feedback on the idea in the forums!
    * Make sure it's not just a block of text, Mibba guidelines say double paragraphs are the way to go.
    * Have someone beta it.
    * Custom layouts help
    * Thank people when they give you comments.
    * Make use of LacTac.

    I'm going to reiterate what a few other members have said and advise adding a layout to your stories, a lot of people (not all) will click back if the story has the default Mibba layout just because I personally think that a custom layout, that connects with the story, gives them a feel for what they can expect.

    Also, try and keep the summary short but attention grabbing... I personally do not like reading stories that have summaries that pretty much tell you everything that is going to happen... or at least the main points.
