I've always had major issues with losing weight. I was tiny as a kid, and didn't really start putting on weight until I was about 14/15 and buggered up my knee, which put an end to play football for the school. I didn't change my dietary habits and 10 years down the line I had literally tripled in clothes size. I didn't bother at that point to change anything because hey, what's the point, right? I wasn't going to lose it all so why should I bother? I had that mindset for pure ages as well.
Luckily (well it isn't lucky at all I guess) I've recently been diagnosed as Type 1 diabetic (nothing to do with my size, being diabetic runs in my family and T1 isn't usually caused by weight anyway, it's autoimmune) and seeing as I was basically forced to cut out a lot of the sugary drinks and foods I was consuming, I lost like 4kg without even doing anything. Now I'm really trying to lose more weight. The number on the scale is going up but to be fair, my fat percentage is also going down, my measurements are smaller and I've been doing a lot of cycling / weight work so I think it's maybe just gaining muscle that's caused the actual 'weight' gain?
Not that I recommend getting diabetes as a way of losing weight (a tad extreme) but it's worked for me.
