Like, if I make dinner I'll make half of what I usually eat and then I sit around wishing there was more even though I know I'm not hungry.
I think I'd loose weight more easily if I lived alone, and made my own meals, because then I'd be in control of how much I actually need to eat, rather than want. I always feel obliged to eat whats on my plate :/

At home my mum always makes huge dinners, and if I start leaving half of it she gets all paranoid that I'm not eating. She doesn't believe in dieting or anything like that ( "You're fine the way you are!" )

Monica used to cook like that for me but at the same time, she's always very critical of my weight/image which just contradicts her making my food.

Everyone says portion control but my portions are tiny. I can't eat in bulk. The only big meal I ever have is dinner, and I rarely have large dinners either. It's just I'm a little and often kinda person.

I want to loose, ideally 20 pounds, which will sound ridiculous to everyone because I am 5'5" and 124 pounds. But my friends way like 80 pounds and then complain about being fat. Which makes me feel like obese even though people say I'm skinnier than them.

Hmm ... more walks, less snacks. That's my idea.

Well, Last year I decided I wanted to loose some weight.
So I stopped eating as much. Within time I was from eating hardly anything to nothing for days at a time.
I became underweight. Everyone noticed, Even at school people noticed the difference in my face and when they saw me in the changing rooms.
My friends began forcing me to eat in school hours if anything, no matter how much I refused or near throwing up.
Without them I would be anorexic now, But instead i'm still underweight but its not danger than how it was before. Even now I can't put on weight, And people complain that i'm too skinny.
So if your going to loose weight make sure you dont find it obsessive, Like I did. ;]

Well, I'm gonna try to keep this short, but I've been dieting since November, and to date have almost lost 50 pounds. I started around 220, and am around 170 right now.

I pretty much completely changed my eating style. I have a bad sweet tooth too. The main thing is self-dicipline. You may want it, but you have to learn to say no sometimes. One thing that kinda helps is gum. It's sweet for a while, and it gives you the sensation that you're eating. Flavored water too, it's sweet, but no sugar. Fruit is sweet too. Maybe not all as sweet as chocolate, but the big thing is self-control and knowing to just say no. I used to eat so much shit, candy, fast food and all that garbage, but now I'm eating a lot healthier and a lot more vegetables, way less pop.

The big thing: DO NOT stop eating or starve yourself. You need food to keep your metabolism up. The higher your metabolism, the better you burn calories. If you stop eating, your metabolism slows really badly. You may lose weight a bit quicker, but as soon as you start eating again, that weight will come right back.

You can do it if you really set your mind to it. take it from me. I've lost alost 50 pounds in about 4/5 months. :)

Weight is something that has bothered me for many years. I always have a certain image of how I want to be, and it seems like I can never achieve it.
I'm 5'3 and 137 lbs. I go on walks all the time, and ride my bike a lot. I do lots of conditioning in my room, with pushups, situps, everything. I try to run on the tredmil whenever I'm home alone, I'm terrified of people watching me, so I can't run outside, and my sisters tell my mom I'm going anorexic whenever they see me even near the tredmill. Makes me wonder why we got the damn thing.
I watch what I eat, and try to drink more water.
AND I HAVEN'T BEEN LOOSING WEIGHT.

I just like...idk, you know. It makes me want to give up. There seems to be nothing that will help. In another perspective, it is just a number. It's not like its tattooed to our foreheads, you know. I guess basically...all we can do is do our best to be healthy.

"That's another thing. You should eat something big for breakfast, medium for lunch, then small for dinner. My mom says that's what you're supposed to do, and yeah, she knows her shit."

ACTUALLY............you should eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day. it keeps your metabolism going and it keeps you quite full.
    yep.
at any rate, you shouldn't have dinner be your biggest meal of the day.
    yes.

and I don't think this has been said:
don't expect to lose more than 1-2 pounds a week.
anything more than that is unhealthy.
same thing for weight gain, more than 1-2 is unhealthy.

    edit again.
I bookmarked some links a while ago in regards to losing weight.
    SO I'LL SHARE THEM!

If I may point out. Doing the same workout over and over, eventually your body gets used to it. I use my mom as an example. She drives a semi truck, and has a hard labor job, but she's been doing it for so long, she doesn't lose weight anymore, because her body is used to the work, so she wouldn't burn off the calories like say if I was to do her job. Cause if I was to do her job for a month, I'd probably drop 20 something pounds.

Hello again fellow weight loss people ...

My weight fluctuates between 8st9 and 9st which is about between 122 and 127 pounds.

I can be 9st one day and then if I say, don't eat any sweet stuff the next day i'll be 8st9. And I do way myself at roughly the same time everyday so I don't know what this could be.

But I was just wondering if anyone knows if thats good or bad?

    ^^ Maybe it's the scale? Mine's crazy.

I found out about negative calories last week. I spazzed. They're basically foods that burn more calories than they produce. You have one more reason to eat oranges.
Well just plan to fail. Don't set incredibly high standards and don't expect to loose weight over night. Keep positive. Be happy, smile, it makes you skinny. Make a list of reasons why you want to loose weight to see if you have the right reasons. Keep in mind that you're beautiful. Get friends to help you with work-outs?

Oh and yes, cut out all sweet drinks, whole bread and super-refined sweets. [low fat milk is a good alternative to the whole one also, but watch out for diet products in general since most of them are just taste disgusting and full of chemicals.]

I'm trying to lose weight, too. But it's so hard in the summer because summer is so so so so so completely boring. And I eat when I'm bored. I probably gained like five pounds. Even when I try to DDR all the weight away.

Well, I'm supposed to be swimming today but I'm really afraid of showing my tummy to all those people. Sad

    Overload in a supervised situation.

Just work and work and wok til you can hardly breathe anymore, it's the most effective way to do it, just make sure you have a professional with you so maybe get a personal trainer.

You could try a few training types, comment me if you wanna know about them.

Oh, and by the way, girls are more likely to be a little overweight in their teen years, it's good to just leave it how you are and you'll eventually grow into the weight in a way.

It's like that with guys, we tend to be underweight in teen years (Not me though, I do loads of stuff) and then they put on weight and they become over the average weight.

Just let it happen to be honest, as long as you have a balanced diet and you don't drop exercise you'll be perfectly fine.

Trust me, I know physical science, I do GCSE P.E.

The whole changing weights thing...in the morning, you usually weigh less, because you've been sleeping and not eating...well, that's sort of how I think of it. But uh, yeah. Usually when I wake up, I'm up to a kilo lighter...I don't know what that is in pounds.

Try to keep yourself away from sweet things. I just binged on Nutella straight out of the jar, and I feel like crap right now. Sad

It's normal for weight to flucutate day to day. I've read it and heard it from people. Your weight and body fat percentage will and it's normal. That was the big thing with me for my Navy enlistment (Which is finally complete Wow ) My recruiter was telling me a lot of stuff, and I'd studied up and all that fun stuff.

And they say the best time to weigh yourself is as soon as you wake up. (I also add personally after you wake up and go to the bathroom I tested that theory, and it could make a difference up to a pound! Depending on how much you go. (sorry for the TMI there))

Because even drinking water will add weight on during the day.

    i have no willpower.
    Me too...
It's kind of hard, but I simply cut out the sweets; because I binge on it if I get my hands on it, so I just don't look at it.
I'm kind of proud of myself; I walked for two hours straight; I usually don't do that...

I want to loose weight and be less chubby. I tried cutting sugary foods out of my diet and replacing them with fruits and stuff, but I couldn't resist chocolate and those other foods that are bad for you.

    :grr:

    I'm about 53kg's, which is 116 pounds, I think & I'm about 5'3.

I need the will-power, I'd love to be thinner.
