I go to a catholic school. I take religion classes.
But I don't believe in God. I haven't since I started there. I just find it really interesting to learn about different religions and understand how they work.

I was brought up Jewish, went to (and still going to) a Jewish private school since I was about 6.
It sucks. At least i'm switching schools next year.

But I think that the whole Jewish school thing opened my eyes... because they're so focused on religion there, it gave me time to really think about it... and a couple years ago I realised that I didn't believe any of it.

I have nothing against religion, it's just not my thing. I believe it the cause behind war and hate, and I really don't want to get into something that causes so much stress.

That, and I can't force myself to believe. Ha.

    ...Yeah.

The bible was written between 40-80 years (depending what gospel you are reading) after Jesus died. Most writters either had family their or were children...
Well, apparently Jesus did exist, but what's still to say people weren't making that stuff about everything he did up? And him coming back to life?
What I was saying was how could they remember what happned properly anyway.

I mean do you remember what happened even two years agi at a school assembly?
    Yes (:

Me, I just have really big doubts and I don't believe in anything I can't see.

One of them, being the bible. And Incest, seriously, if it's a sin...

Adam and Eve were told to "multiply" so, they do, and the result of that multiplication probably had to multiply too meaning, incest. : \

Or maybe that's just me in my head over thinking shit :file:

Exactly. Incest is suppose to be a sin which means we're all sins. If brother and sister populated the entire world, we're all just brothers and sisters. So,really it makes no sense.

I've studied the story of Adam and Eve and I've learnt that it's not true.
You can't really get the whole world from just 2 people. Especially when they had two sons anyway. The story is figurative and has meaning.

    Sorry, that's just my opinion.

There's a difference between a theory and a scientific theory.

I sort of believe in God. The whole Adam and Eve thing isn't real, because...well, there's six billion people in the world. That couldn't have been started by 2 people.

And if the Big Bang created the world, how did the gases that caused it get in space? No air in space, remember?

I call myself an aetheist/agnostic, because I fit in with both groups. If I am proven wrong [as in going to hell and god or Jesus or whoever telling me that they were real all along] then I'd believe it. But, the thing is that I don't believe that that is oing to happen, so that puts me with both groups. I was raised in a Christian town, and was told that EVERYTHING in the Bible was a FACT. I had a real problem with that, not only because I didn't really believe it, but because the church was so closed minded about it. So, then I realized taht I didn't believe in Christianity, and I went through a fear phase. I was constantly paranoid that I would go to hell and such... I was just a mess. Religion should not mess people up like that. If a religion does that to people, it isn't a very good religion. But this is coming from me, a person who sincerely dislikes religion. I love spirituality, though. I find it fascinating. But I dislike Judaism, Christianity, Islam... all of those.

As for Paganism, Wicca, and New-Age religions, I'm really openminded about those. I used to be Wiccan myself, and I still consider myself partly Pagan. I don't believe in the God and Goddess, but I do believe in the concept about nature being a huge part of everything. I think the way we treat nature is a big part of our spiritual health. Also, my mom is Buddhist, which I think is really cool.

My main problem with the Bible is that everything is black and white. And even the parts that aren't, many Christians turn it into that! I dislike the whole "holier than thou" attitude, and it makes me sick.

Many wars and battles were [and are] fought over religion [example: Israel and the "holy land" being fought over] and I find it completely ridiculous. I think that all of the stories in the Bible are completely ridiculous and overly exaggerated.

It's just... I dunno. It just seems ridiculous that they have huge groups following these books. How can people seriously believe these things?

And if the Big Bang created the world, how did the gases that caused it get in space? No air in space, remember?
The gases and matter were bunched up really tight and one day it all went kaboom and thats how the beginning of space happened, they know that it happened because of the background radiation in space, background radiation is the heat that is left over from the bang. The gases and matter were in the middle of space.
The air was created as planets formed and their climates and eco systems changed.

I don't believe in most stories from the bible such as How God created the universe or Adam and Eve, they are too far fetched to believe. If we were all made from the same two people, why don't we all look similar?

We do. Almost everyone has two arms, two legs, ten fingers, ten toes...

If we all were a product of extreme incest [that sounds like a sport], then we'd all be mutated. Maybe we are mutated compared to "Adam and Eve." But if that were the case, we wouldn't be able to reproduce, considering that one of many forms of mutation. So, we wouldn't even be here, because that incestual family would have died out a lonnnng time ago. :coffee:

    Eh, don't mind my rambles.

So.....it makes more sense if you paste the whole thing.

"scientific theories are always tentative" doesn't mean they are wrong. They just might not work in every possible case.

No, it doesn't mean that they are wrong. It means exactly what it says on the tin, that they are tentative. It means that any theory can still be questioned, even if the evidence is good.

I believe in Darwin. I just don't think you can say, ok, Darwin is 'proven' and that's it, we can't question it anymore. If Darwin didn't question the accepted views then the theory of evolution would never have been written.
