Vampirism

I'm sure there were people like vampires that were real to an extent, but nothing of the immortal or killing people sort. I personally like the taste of blood. I've occasionally dragged a finger through someone's blood if they had a cut and tasted it. I stopped as I got older and learned about the diseases that could be caught by drinking someone else's blood. There are also people who have some disease (forgot what it's called) which causes them to be highly sensitive to the sun, such as if you're allergic to something, too much can cause damage.

When it comes to killing people, I don't care how devoted you are to a subject or an idea, that is not okay, especially when it's not so much a religion as it is a fad or a fantasy. I've seen a few people saying, "Oh, well those people probably thought what they were doing was right." But I'm sure the families of those victims did not. And while these "vampires" are running around, killing more people, these victims' families are in mourning because some weirdo decided they wanted to impress a creature that is most likely fictional.

I say most likely, because vampires could very well exist. People have mentioned that we don't have any proof, but that could just be because they're really freakin' good at hiding.

I agree with Alex, in the fact that Twilight is a work of fiction, and when it comes to fiction, writers and authors are allowed to take liberties. No story is an original story. Shakespeare's stories weren't even original. Pretty much all of them were taken and rewritten, and sometimes, he would rewrite the same story. Stephanie Meyer did the same thing, taking the myth of vampires and rewriting them. (No, I am in no way comparing her to Shakespeare, but rather, pointing out a parallel that is true of all authors.) Sure, the sparkling thing was kind of silly, but it's quite frankly nothing to get so upset about. I really don't think that sparkling vampires are comparable to a cannibalistic Santa Claus.

I heard of a disease where people actually think they're vampires. They don't need help-they need a reality check. Vampires aren't real.

Vampires aren't real. They're cool to think about and imagine, but at the end of the day, they don't exist. People who think they do and say they are one, they need a reality check.

Often times if they actually believe that they are a vampire, they're mentally ill. Schizophrenia is one of the bigger causes of it, so a 'reality check' isn't exactly going to help. That would be something they absolutely 100% can't control.
