Vampirism

Vampires were based of fact. Vlad III Dracula was a king, who killed alot of people and was said to be bloodthirsty. Tada, Dracula the vampire.

    Yes, and her too.

  • There is some kind of truth behind it, of course. And punkprincess is correct about Vlad, among many others.

It's just evolved with the telling of history.

But Vampires themselves, as in the creatures are a part of Mythology.

Myth, being the key word. :)

  • i read some comments earlier and you don't have to kill someone to drink their blood. people who go around saying, "oh yeah, i'm a vampire!" are posers and they're just sad however some people do actually drink blood within their own community. just leave them to it =]

  • I think vampires are absolutly awesome, but they are not real.
I've seen this documentary on the sci-fi channel were this kid and his friends would play roles as if they were vampires, but he soon started to believe he was one and killed his girlfriends family or something like that.
I just think sure vampires are cool and all,but they are make believe and i guess people get a little to obsessed with the idea.

  • Countess Elizabeth or Erzsebeth Bathory is known to have killed about or more than 600 women for their blood. She used it to retain her beauty an youthfulness by bathing in it and stuff. There were legends that she was a vampire but those are unreal.

Personally, I love vampires. Well, the ones in the movies and the books. I don't really know about real life except that it would be totally awsome if they did exist. :P

    How would it be awesome?
I like vampires too, but be honest why the hell would you want them out there sucking people's blood and stuff? There's nothing really cool about that.

Yeah, I guess you got me there about the blood drinking thing.
It's just the thought that something other than humans and animals exist is interesting. Which I'm sure we're not the only living beings in the universe.

They're cool. In books and movies and only in books and movies. Yeah, I write about them but I'd never be one. Ever. I think it's awful for people who actually kill other people to drink their blood. It's not right.

  • A lot of people lately have become over-obsessed with Vampirism.
I can't wait until it dies down.

There are some kids who are convinced that they are vampires, and have even gone as far as filing their teeth into points to look like vampires, and then in a few months they'll try and claim their dentist bill to get them fixed up on insurance

  • I once remember a show I watched, and it was about these people that were 'vampires'. It wasn't bad really, like, all they did was that they were really spiritual and they helped people who were sick by putting their hands over them and channeling their good energies into the sick person's body.

I believe in that kind of vampirism.

But the whold sucking blood thing, fear of light, and hatred of crosses? I'll just leave that stuff for a really good film .. or my dreams (:

  • I'm undecided, but I'm leading towards the fact that they don't really exist, I'm one of those people who will only believe something if they see it. I kind of hope they don't exist, otherwise that would be very creepy Shocked

Although I love reading vampire stories and just finding out infomation about them.

personally, I believe that every myth/legend has to be based on some sort of fact. How else would they have gotten started?

But for people to go try to become one, when it's something they're obviously not, that's just... not right.
Some people have very good imaginations. Authors like JR Tolkien, JK Rowling, and Terry Pratchett must have amazing imaginations to come up with something so... unique.

  • There might be some people who lust for blood or have vampiric tendencies, but as for fanged, cloaked, "I vill suck your blood!", Dracula-esque vampires, no, they don't exist.

Thanks to books like the Twilight series, though, they've become really popular in today's culture.

  • I think it is a sick thing in real life, which is why I don't like the vampire books that make vampires who kill humans good guys. Like Anne Rice's books. They're quite visual in the killing department, and I don't think it helps people who think they're real.
Nothing wrong with her writing, I just think it's a bit odd.

  • I love vampires and i do believe that they existed and still do but i would never become one or follow that as a religion. To me it would seem more like a cult than religion
