  • The thing is, a lot of parents/guardians aren't comfortable talking to their kids about sex and vice versa.
They need to get correct information from someone.

I think schools should have some responsibility for educating kids on sex. Schools can't shy away from real life.

  • My school actually has a mandatory health class, and in it we get A LOT of sex education. Although we were educated about contraception and STD's and prenatal development, a few subjects were ignored. We actually didn't get any information on HIV/AIDS, although we were informed of every other STD. Also, homosexuality was not discussed. There was actually a question in my class about gay sex, but the teacher just said it was inappropriate. I think that if heterosexual sex is appropriate class discussion, gay sex should be as well.

    Totally agreed.
I can't wait until all the homophobes die, leaving just the sexually open people left.
Then sex ed will include everything and everybody will be better educated.

and my friend Andrew had it last year,
and he was just like "I now know everything about a girls vagina."
and I just go "OH MY GOD! ME TOO!"

  • One of the techniques they use at my school in sex ed is to scare us. They use over the top recounts of people having sex and things that have gone wrong.

  • I was in year 6... but that was just the basic stuff.
Then again in year 9. and it was pretty good and went into detail about contraception and stuff.
The lady even gave out free condoms! and showed us how to use them... and the different types and flavours.
    Our teacher looked quite disterbed.

  • I remeber when I first learned about that stuff,
I went around saying 'Vigina' && 'Penis' a lot.
Then my cousins would always say "What is it again?"
Just so I scream it. XD

    Like in Mean Girls?!
"Don't have sex. You will get pregnant, and DIE."
    :lmfao
That's my kind of sex education.

    Yup.

We got told some girl got paralyzed from having sex
But they were trying to scare us, it wasn't from the actual sex, she fell off the bed at a bad angle and had a back injury before :file:

  • In elementary school, we started taking Sex Education in like, grade four, with our parents permission; if we didn't have parents permission, we had to learn about health stuff instead, like food, exercise, that kind of thing..There were quite a few students out of the room at the time, I wasn't one of them..
Needless to say, our Sex Education isn't very limited in most areas, in fact...the teacher dislikes dodging certain areas most teachers dodge, strange, right?
I think it's because there's a lot of homosexual people in my school, and our teachers know it too, so, I think this our Sex Education teachers way of supporting them, I'm not sure though..
We learned about S.T.D.s in Grade Seven, and, to be honest, I passed out.
Our teacher also refuses to talk about the basics, like abstinence and stuff, so, I guess my school isn't like yours at all..
Or like a lot of peoples... It's strange, to say the least, but....I'm cool with it.
Though, a lot of my classmates (and, I'll admit, I'm part of this group) still laugh at the word "sex" or "hormones" or any words like that, immature bunch we are..

We've gotten free condoms since Grade Eight (so when we were like, thirteen or fourteen) our teacher was all like "Hmm, this is always pleasant.. :D"

  • My case is this. I first learned sex ed in 5th grade. Recently gone through it again (7th grade). Not much to learn except on what I already knew in 5th grade. On top of that, my mom, personally prefers not to give me the talk at all and she's a nurse for crying out loud. Disgust

Fortunately, this site helped me learn a lot from expert help and personal experiences that I knew I wouldn't get from school.

  • We get sex ed like, twice in our school.
    2nd year and 4th year.
I think it needs to be taught more.
But even at that, they just teach us about how it's supposed to be about love. :file:
