Science has taken almost all of the surprises out of life. Now this too?

They should just leave somethings alone.

I think that its a good thing. Think of the lives it could save. And i know, you should love your child unconditionaly, no matter what gender it is, but not all people think that way. This will probably save, little girls and little boys lives.

Science ceases(sp?) to amaze me, i mean wow.

I think it is unnatural there for should not be done or even tested.

Well, we do a lot of things that are unnatural, but people still do them.

I can see the good and bad points.
    But I personally don't think it's a good idea...

Would this create more transgender people?

Personally, I think it would be interesting if scientists could do that, but there are so many risks for procedures like this, and what about the simple surprise of knowing what sex your child will be? Ahh, well, people will do what they want.

Some theories and studies show that transgendered people are born as one sex, in the body of another. In my opinion, this would increase the chance of the child being transgendered. Scientists would have to have an embryo in order to change or make the gender that is wanted, am I right? Gender is determined by the XX or XY chromosomes, so if you wanted to have a boy, (EDIT) but you have a female embryo instead, you would add the Y chromosome. At least, that's what I have read...
Anyways, I do think doing this would increase the chance being transgendered. It makes sense to me, at least.

It was only a question... to get people thinking. Yes

You would never have a female embryo.

How do you figure? The gender of a child is affected by the number of y chromosomes that "hit" the egg. If there are no y chromosomes that "hit" the egg, you have a girl.

Maybe I'm confusing myself.. I'll re read the post the I put up.. I probably wasn't very clear on that.

Okay, I think I fixed it so what I said is more clear and makes sense...

Scientists would fertilize the egg with the correct x or y chromosome... it wouldn't be a girl, and then changed to a boy. It would always be a girl or always be a boy.

I have posted here before, but I have another view point, lol. Not my own, but I was talking to my dad.
He left my mother after they found out I was a girl because he didn't want a girl. He wanted a boy because they're more 'superior' in his eyes.
Now, I'm quite happy being a girl, but I know that if this gender choice was avaliable, I would definitely be a boy.
So, I mean, this shit could change the course of like, history. omgno:

    I'm against it. I don't think it's a good idea.
I think people will abuse this and nothing good will come out of it.

I wouldn't want to do that to my kid.

I mean, it's not a religious or moral thing or anything, I just want them to form the way the cells form, without any input or anything.

I believe that the capabilities of science are amazing, but that this is something that should be left up to God.

Some say yes, some say no.
I see the plus if you have a genetic disease that will be passed to a specific gender of child.
That would probaly be the only reason that would make me consider it. Otherwise, I think I would end up feeling some guilt over it.
    Pretty much the same, here.
