Being Able to Choose the Sex of Your Child

I want a suprise when i have a baby.. I dont care if its boy or girl least i have a baby :D

I don't see what's wrong with it.
If you wan't to get things in accordance to the baby's sex, it's probably a good thing to do.
Though, buying unisex clothing is an option too.

Or you could just want a few months for the ultrasound to tell you if it's a boy or girl.

I'd assume they would mess around with the sex chromosomes of the sperm, and determine which ones a X/Y, well that's what I think....

I'm not sure whether I agree with this or not.
I know that in China, there is still the issue of the killing of baby girls so they don't have to pay for them to get married, and the want for boys to earn and work for the family.

So if one country just started having all of the same sex baby, it wouldn't be very balanced.

They could do it without the cloning, like designer babies. If you're able to choose the sex of it, sooner or later they'll be able to control alleles for certain phenotypes.

I mean, I'm not against choosing it, if you want to choose it then go right ahead, it's your choice. But there isn't the fun debate between you and your friends about whether it's gonna be a boy or a girl. If you know it's kind of boring, you know?

I think maybe designer babies are a little step too far, but if it's what you desperately want, and you have the money, and the ability to deal with the grief from other people, then why the hell not?

Government getting hold of it and using it against other countries and such is not a good idea though. Then again, it just depends on how you view different extremes...

That's why I think you should have to fill out certain papers to explain why you wish to choose the sex of your child. Making armies and such should be illegal. I mean, the world will get so unbalanced, it will be insane...

If we have too many men and not enough women, the men will become sexually frustrated and rape rates will be going up rapidly. There will probably be a lot more prostitution around as well, seeing as it will probably be worth a shitload, considering there will not be many women.

Technology is great and it's created some amazing things, but I really think things like the sex of your baby should be left alone.

It wouldn't be balanced at all! That's why we have women and me, to have this whole harmonic balance on this earth. Without one, the other cannot live. It's just the way it is, and to think that now they want to alter that. Think of all the possiblities that something horrible could go wrong. People would turn against each other (*shivers*), I really hope it doesn't happen anytime soon.

But there are more women in the world right now, and women are the non-dominant, weak gender, which I think, is the way it should be. If the genders become balanced out, I think the women are fucked. We will be abused and taken advantage of. The world is perfect the way it is right now.
