Well I was diagnosed with Clinical Depression, but was told nothing. I honestly don't think I'm that depressed, though I have tried to take my life a few times. I refuse to take the pills, though.

I've been diagnosed with depression and bipolar I. They don't treat the depression, but when they started treating the bipolar I it helped the depression a little bit as well, so I believe they are connected, if my medication for one diagnosis helped the other as well.

I think i have depression, a lot of people do. But my mum refusses to go get me checked out, and i dont wanna go on my own.

Well she did take me once, because its affecting school, i can't get up in the morning sleep at night. I never feel like going out, i just sit around all day listening to music. But the doctor said there was nothing wrong with me, and my mum didn't believe him. She said he always had a problem with him. There wasa a lot of awkward silences and he kept asking me things like 'So do you think you'd be better if we could just get rid of all the kids at school who bully you, or dont listen to the same music as you' Which to me was like WTF. He kept saying that we cant make everyone like what we like, which is what i was trying to tell him. I dont have a problem with people liking other music, its just when they call me emo for likeing what i do. They've done it so much that im starting to believe i am an emo.

So after that, my mum promised me she would take me back to see another doctor, that was 3 months ago. I still havent gone back. And here i am at 4:55 AM not being able to sleep.

This is the sort of stuff that annoys me

I was diagnosed clinically depressed in June after I tried to take my own life, and prescribed Prozac a few weeks later because basically I was unwilling to try and get better.

Its working for me so far....only thing is its given me chronic insomnia. Hence why its 5.15 and I'm awake.

All this doesn't mean that you are suffereing from depression. Insomnia can be common in teenagers.
Do you ever feel numb and void of emotions?

I've been diagnosed with a moderate case of Bipolar disorder and Dysthymic disorder.

Wow, it felt good getting that off my chest. I've never told anyone 'cause I don't want pills shoved down my throat like they do to my brother.

How often do people with depression/bipolar disorder refuse to believe they have a problem/say that they're not sick?

When I was first diagnosed (depression) I didn't want to believe it so I tried to pretend I wasn't, despite the fact that I had cut up my arm.

No, I saw this therapist dude and left right afterwards. I didn't give him any of my information because I knew that would happen. It was one of those confidential things.

Pretty much. I've got my mind set on not taking medication.
I've lived with this stuff a long time without pills and I can continue to do it.
Besdies, I don't know how much of me I'd loose to the pills.

I may be a freak, but I'm damn proud of it.

I refuse to believe in mood disorders -like it's something you could believe in- and psychoanalysis for that matter. In my little universe at least they do not exist. I'd rather believe forest nymphs come and whisper spells under their breath while I'm asleep or that stars come down from the skies to dream with me. Actually I believe all kinds of weird stuff. -shrug- It's not like I have something, I've just been urged to ''see someone'' on a few many occasions. And I wanted to say that I believe in stars and forest nymphs.

Anyway, I was asking because there are many people out there who try to diagnose themselves and I found the habit odd.

How do you diagnose yourself? Do you just...say you have it?

So it would make you more suceptible more to having a disorder? It doesn't mean you're automatically going to get it...

No it doesn't mean you are definitely going to have it. There is a higher chance if the parents have it, though it depends on the family history of the illnesses.

I suffer from from depression and my brother is schizophrenic. None of my parents suffer from anything, but my grandmother on my mother's side was bipolar.
